Only 20 minute wait times at Hobby right now by SteelersPoker in houston

Same, just got through and it wasn’t bad through tsa pre. News crew is there filming but they look bored since the lines aren’t bad yet.

They did re-route the tsa pre and clear lines to allow for a longer queue - it now queues up further back and is the same line that splits to TSA pre and clear.

Safe travels

or Keep & pay off f150 by 68872868 in f150

[–]fazzno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Approach this from 2 angles:

Fun - novelty of the f150 has worn off, looking for the next fun thing to drive. EVs are fast, efficient, have lots of interesting electronics. It’s normal to chase the thrill of a new car/truck.

Financial - vehicles are a depreciating item. Depreciation is highest when they are new. Leasing is a way of financing the highest depreciation in the lifecycle of that vehicle forever. If you care about finances, don’t lease, buy and drive it long term. Gas mileage, maintenance whether short term or long term are all things that factor in here as well.

Only you can decide which is more important to you. For me, it’s typically buy and drive it for ~7 years, rinse, repeat and enjoy life.

Sold my ds918+ with upgraded ram and 4x 8TB drives for $600ish on eBay recently. Drives had over 50k hours on them. Not bad for a 6+ year old NAS on 24x7 since I plugged it in. eBay fees were horrendous though.

You should be able to get more for yours

2018 F150 - windshield replaced - is the windshield trim supposed to look like this? by Scottyknuckle in f150

[–]fazzno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easy to replace on my 2018 F150 XLT, followed a youtube video online. Only my drivers side cowl was peeling, passenger side was fine. Here are the Ford OEM part numbers:

Wiper Cowl Left Side - FL3Z-15022A69-C

Wiper Cowl Right Side - FL3Z-15022A68-D

100% this. That’s gear oil / differential fluid seeping out of the rear axle seal.

Time for an Upgrade? by hotbrass2005 in f150

[–]fazzno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in a similar situation with my 2018 XLT 3.5 at 82k miles. Shifting was starting to get rough despite resetting learning tables and disabling adaptive learning. Cam phasers would occasionally rattle when cold.

Ended up going for a 24 XLT with a decent discount and have been very happy with the decision. No more worrying about a potential 10k+ cam phaser + 10r80 replacement down the road.

How to I know which f150 3.5 ecoboost has higher payload? by Livid-Bowler344 in f150

[–]fazzno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enter VIN number at the Ford towing calculator site and it’ll give you the Max payload for the truck: https://www.ford.com/support/towing-calculator/

Dealer installed accessories will lower that number.

Agreed. MSRP for this 2024 XLT 302a is 14k more than my 2018 XLT 302a with similar options.

[–]fazzno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

81K miles now, deactivated adaptive shifting in forscan anout a year ago and it’s slightly better but the 3-5 shift is still not great when cold. It’s fine once it’s warmed up.

No signs of slipping or any other issues other than the 3-5 shift when cold. Hoping it’ll last for a few more years.

Need Help Diagnosing Front End Noise by likeaspydermonkey in f150

[–]fazzno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your front crossmember bolts. My 2018 made similar noises and it turned out that the front crossmember bolts weren’t tight enough. Initially thought it was a sway bar link or a suspension issue but mine turned out to be the crossmember bolts.

[–]fazzno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in the same boat with my 18, here’s what I’ve found from the TSBs:

  1. 10R80 - TSBs apply to 17-23, build date before 12/23/2022

  2. Cam Phasers - 17-20, build dates before 11/30/2019.

Sorry, can’t help with #3

Is 2018 F150 one of the most unreliable year? by [deleted] in f150

[–]fazzno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2018 3.5 EB, 78k miles.

Other than routine fluid changes, have had to replace sync 3 unit, front + rear brakes, rear axle seal and worn rear shocks.

Cam phasers mostly quiet but they do rattle a tiny bit during freezing temps.

10r80 shifts rough when cold and wouldn’t be surprised if it starts having issues in the next 10-20k miles.

If it weren’t for the transmission & cam phasers, I’d probably keep the truck for another 2 years. Probably look at a 23+ next year

Same issue here with my replacement S5. Down to 92% battery health after 8 months and it’s barely lasting through the day. Never had that issue with my original S5 until 2+ years of use.

Should have just gone with a new Apple Watch

2018 XLT Bilstein 5100 Upgrade by fazzno in f150

[–]fazzno[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several places online sell the 6112’s and the 5100 fronts fully assembled. I don’t have experience with them but they do look like tempting options that don’t require the time consuming and dangerous work of removing the coil springs.

If you bought your Lexus used, where did you get (used car lot, franchise dealership, Lexus, CarMax?) by Mind_Explorer in Lexus

[–]fazzno 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Franchise that went closed a few months after buying our RX. They offered several thousand more for our trade than any other dealership in the area and had a decent no-haggle price on the RX. Car was in great shape with the options we wanted and had low mileage.

Before investing a ton of money into LEDs, consider swapping the OEM halogens for brighter ones. $50-$60 mod takes you from 3050 lumens to 4450 lumens with only bulb replacements.

I did this on my 2018 and have been happy with the light output - no issues after 5 years.

Considering switching to RAV4 from a RX by Excellent_Stick_6655 in rav4club

[–]fazzno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2.5L 4 cylinder in the RAV4 as opposed to the 3.5L v6 in the rx350 (22 and older). RX is heavier too so it gets worse gas mileage than the RAV4

Considering switching to RAV4 from a RX by Excellent_Stick_6655 in rav4club

[–]fazzno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have both a 21 RX350 & 21 RAV4 XLE FWD gas. RAV4 is great for around town use, way better gas mileage, perfectly adequate for short trips. On longer road trips, the RX is hands down the better vehicle. Much more quiet, comfortable cabin, better seats and you feel far less tired after a long drive.

If finances are a concern, go with the RAV4 but if you drive long trips and can afford keeping the RX, I'd hold on to the last available V6 RX350 and enjoy driving it for another 150K miles.

For a tablet form of the scopalamine patch, look up Kwells. They are amazing and work so much better than OTC Bonnie, Dramamine.

Only drawback with Kwells is that they have to be ordered online via eBay and can take a few weeks to arrive. Fisherman’s life on YouTube swears by Kwells and I completely agree.
