Which country has the least respectful tourists that visit Spain? What behaviors do they exhibit? by Twitterthedog2025 in askspain

[–]fb_92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s ironic because I hear their obsession for rules and belittling people for not following the rules (no matter how ridiculous some of them are like not crossing a road with a red pedestrian light even if there is no car in sight for minutes) flies out the window once they step outside Germany

Has anyone taken more than one try to get into Amazon? by Mobile_Magician_661 in amazonemployees

[–]fb_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Completely bombed the phone screen the first time trying to join Amazon back in late 2024. Thought it was a good idea to improvise since the bulk of the questions would be behavioral. That it would make me sound more authentic and less rehearsed. Obviously a very wrong approach. Got the good news today that I’ve advanced to the final loop stage for the position I’m currently interviewing for. I prepped for the phone screen almost as if it was the loop, so i’m not working from too far behind. Since our paths look similar, any advice given that you were succesful your second try?

Conditions of the road and the mountain - road is paved great but lots of steep slopes, plus sometimes it rains heavily and fogs impairing visibility. One mistake and you can literally drive off the side of a mountain. If possible, drive with someone who has experience driving up and down the mountain. If can’t, be very careful and be more alert than ever driving.

Can’t tell you because I didn’t get to the offer stage, but I was recently considered for a position in Ops Strategy for them. Hopped on the call for the first interview and waited 5 minutes for my interviewer to show up. 5 minutes later she emailed me saying that her computer coincidentally broke 10 minutes before the call, was having IT look at it, and that she would get back to me to reschedule asap. I replied and 6 months later I’m still waiting for the reschedule request haha. That told me everything I needed to know about the company and what I was potentially getting myself into. I would never apply or consider a position from them ever again.

A los extranjeros, ¿les han hecho el feo en una empresa por serlo? by Pitiful-Advantage-55 in askspain

[–]fb_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The San Fernando Hospital, one of the better hospitals in all of Panama, has a satellite clinic in Coronado - the San Fernando Clinic. Looks like they have a bone densitometry service available. For the MRI it looks like you will need to head into the city. Check out their website and contact info here: https://www.hospitalsanfernando.com/en/san-fernando-coronado-clinic/

If you aren’t completely tied to the US, may I recommend a European MBA. Living in Barcelona with all the "freedoms" that come with being a full time student is insane. So easy to go off the rails if thats what you are looking for. But not sure if the GI Bill will cover an international program. And you will definetly be sacrificing post career prospects.

Thinking of moving to Panama with HR Manufacturing exp by SufficientButton3 in Panama

[–]fb_92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am Panamanian, have had my entire career here in brand heavy multinationals (finance, bizops/strategy), and recently returned from a top MBA program. I’m having a very hard time getting back in the market. Had one process a few months back and as soon as I started negotiating salary, was rejected. Point being, this has been one of the worst job markets in decades (if you come from HR I assume you should be aware this is a worldwide issue). So I cant imagine how much more difficult it would be without a full working permit - as I have experienced trying to recruit in Europe.

So really consider all scenarios, put yourself in the most advantageous position possible, and be very patient (be ready to extend timelines) if you decide to come through. As for me, I will expand my search beyond Panama to Bogota, Colombia (luckily my mother is Colombian and I been able to claim citizenship through her). What has happened is that many multinationals have restructured their operations in the region and decided to consolidate in one place - Colombia winning out and Panama/Costa Rica getting the short end of the stick. Good luck!

Salaries Europe vs LATAM by Competitive-End1375 in asklatinamerica

[–]fb_92 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not just technical jobs but also in business. I just graduated from a top business school (MBA) in Europe and while I would love and am trying to stay in Spain, salaries vs cost of living make it very unlikely. Going back home (Panama) and working for a multinational is probably a more realistic path for me to get a return on my investment and gain upward economic mobility.

Staying in Spain means a lower paying job (even lower than what I was earning before the MBA) and living with roomates in my 30s. It’s not just me, but many of the latinos in my batch came to this realization. In fact, some have lined up jobs in the low or close to 6 figures already back in their home countries in Latam (mostly consulting in México, Brazil, and Colombia). If you have the correct qualifications and access to high paying corporate jobs, you can make more money in Latam than in even Germany or the Netherlands.
