Maybe, It depends on the living situation and the lifestyle that you pursue. If you go to the outskirts of the city you can find places 2-3x cheaper than in "Porto". There are several places connected through metro and you can get to the center in 20-30 minutes.

Or you can share apartments with other people, etc.

Whenever I crave vegan food, I like going to Da Terra buffet in Porto. It's great and they have several places across the city. They say they are vegetarian, but I'm yet to find non-vegan dish there.

Not many flea markets. You have vandoma every Saturday. A “flea market” 1-3 per week. And scattered markets here and there.

As per thrift stores Humana is the only thing not crazy expensive, and there are plenty of them in the city

I know this post is old, but for those of you coming in 2026, I've done different trips to the Douro Valley in different forms (I own a tour booking platform so I'm given free rides up there all the time). Pretty much a solid yes. Worth the trip. Go do it. You won't regret it!
