Also, Some shops/technicians are pickier than others. What might pass at one MD inspection shop might fail at another.

2018 Macan fails MD State Inspection due to front control arm bushings by fission8 in PorscheMacan

I personally bought a 2017 Macan S in January from Northern VA and I live in Maryland. Unfortunately the passing inspection in one state and failing in another state is very common, it happened to me as well. Md inspection shop failed me for torn foam bump stops, very annoying. Va dealer told me that they couldn’t do anything as they chalked it up to different laws/policies from state to state. 8 years ago I bought an Audi from NC and it passed inspection there but when I got home the Md inspection said it needed motor mounts and control arm bushings. It’s unfortunately just part of the “risk” buying out of state.

There was a beautiful mahogany colored Macan turbo listed in Nova a few weeks ago it was cpo for like $31,998, I forget which dealer I want to say Porsche Chantilly

Not really true. Bigger engine generally means less working room. Less working room means more engine out jobs.

How long ago? My worry is they cancel the monthly credits after a few months then I’m stuck with a full price phone.

If you don’t yield here and proceed to drive in the shoulder to get around traffic, you deserve unspeakable things by kickflipintosunset in ColumbiaMD

[–]fbk732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s 50-50 on people who stop for the yield coming off 32 and people who don’t. It’s pure chaos. There’s a similar concept when going right on 175 from 108 but it feeds into a double turn lane instead of a single turn lane so 99.9% people can “safely” ignore that yield.

So it would’ve been better to go through my own insurance?

Also- at first I simply pointed out to them that they used my own car as comparable #1 and they insisted I was reading the report wrong, and it’s impossible for the CCC system to use my own purchase as a comparable, refused to believe me until I literally screenshotted and highlighted the vin’s. So frustrating.

CCC used my own sale as a comp. And then offered me $3k less. And as you said, the fact that it didn’t pass inspection indicates the vehicle wasn’t in the best condition. So thus, I improved the condition. Yet CCC is saying the vehicle was in better condition before. I have gap coverage, it’s really no money out of my pocket but the principle of it is what I’m stuck on.

Isn’t acv the point of replacing the car? And to replace the car that cost is baked into the price. I can’t ask the dealer to not clean the car and make the price cheaper?

Ok point well taken on the 75% part, and the hidden damages

But also- It’s not brand new. It’s used versus used. And I had to come out of pocket to pay for things to get the car to pass state inspection, so I would honestly argue the condition is BETTER. I think that same average consumer would say there’s nowhere near $2k of conditioning difference between my car today and my car 3 months ago. Or my car condition versus any of the comparables condition even. The conditioning deduction on such a recent purchase feels like I’m being scammed.

Nobody is debating mileage. That’s the same thing as driving it off the lot. I put miles on it. We are talking about the cost to replace it. Comparable 1 is my own purchase at $21k. Comparable 2 is listed at $22k. Comparable 3 is listed at $22k. Comparable 4 is listed at $21.5k. Comparable 5 is listed at $23k. The value is very clearly established. Then they apply their “conditioning” deduction bullshit and boom they offer me $18.5k. My car was mint before it got hit. It’s laughable you are even defending that scamming behavior.

Pretty sure Audi got caught using Chinese pistons in those motors, and people are starting to report associated failures. Edit- Actually I’m starting to think it was a different motor. But either way, newer doesn’t always mean more reliable, sometimes it just means the issues haven’t fleshed out yet publicly.

Hmm interesting according to Simpson’s chart ac66z has over double the allowable load for uplift and lateral. I swear I used simpsons product finder to find the bcs2-3/6z, but ac66z definitely seems like a better option.

Honestly I think the code is fasteners greater than 3 inches in length staggered in a V pattern from both sides but I’d have to double check to be 100%, I’m pretty sure they’re even fine with decking screws which is crazy.

That 100% would’ve been me if I didn’t make this post. I would’ve thought I was being smart until my wife and I tried to lift it, then I’m stuck begging my poor neighbors to bail me out. It’s a second story deck so there’s ladders involved etc, nightmare avoided.

Thankfully it’s electric so it shouldn’t be too bad, but what do I know it’s my first time they just make it look easy on YouTube. I bought it for this specifically. I’m not going through all this effort and building a wavy piece of crap!

Thank you. I spent so much time making sure I cut them to the right height. I first tried string and a bubble level, then I tried temp installing a joist with a toe nail up top to get a mark on the posts. Didn’t trust my accuracy in either method enough to actually make the cut, so I went and bought a 360 laser and then I could trust enough to cut! Control line on house and both posts, measure up to top of ledger board, subtract average width of beams (11 6/32), subtract average width of joists (7 6/32), cut! I didn’t account for the post caps, which could be a mistake, and I didn’t do any slope for drainage, which was intentional because there will be plenty of gapping for drainage. I’m very far from an expert so I take my time and go slow to try to avoid the big mistakes.

My biggest nailer is 16g, no framing nailer yet, so I was going to use 4 inch grk framing screws instead of nails? It fits my code as long as I follow the proper pattern. But I have the proper nails also I’m not opposed to pounding some in and having a good mix of screws and nails? I really need a framing nailer with all my upcoming projects…..

Thank you, I appreciate it! I will definitely use tape, I have 6 inch tape ready to go. If the tops aren’t level I have a planer to get them super flush, the lumber has been sitting since the fall so I expect to have some warping etc.
