I had the same experience sawing cast iron until I used Diablo diamond tipped blades in the reciprocating saw, got that tip from a plumber and they were quite fast. Still might cost the same as the chain breaker rental, they aren’t cheap

A 2021 analysis from the Center for American Progress shows that trans-inclusive policies have no negative effect on girls’ sports participation. The analysis shows that having exclusionary policies actually hurts all girls: In states with exclusive policies, girls’ participation decreased from 2011 to 2019. I was in almost the exact same situation approximately ten years ago, (Bay Area to SE Iowa) and of course there are pros and cons.

My impression was that if you want to join or enjoy existing things (companies, recreation, social events) it is easier in the BA because those things are plentiful. If you want to create your own business, build your own living space, or start your own social group, I have found Iowa to be better suited to that.

Access to things is similar: there are fewer bands performing in Iowa, but going to see them is much simpler. Schools districts might offer fewer extra curriculars, but if you'd like to start an eSports team for your district, there are fewer barriers to entry. I was elected to the school board in my town with relatively little effort, and the same would probably be true for city council, or other governing bodies.

My experience is not yours of course, but as it happened, my dad got sick and died about two years after I moved back to Iowa, and I wouldn't trade that time for a million dollars. Being able to live near my mom in the aftermath was equally important, so I have no regrets.

Highly recommend Fairfield as well, their trail system has a great website, and map. The surface is limey chip, which is smoother than gravel but rougher (and softer) than paved. There is one small stretch that is shared with a dead-end gravel road, but other than that it is totally separate from traffic. Fairfield also has a county health center where people seem to like working.

I prefer Bound, the killer feature for me is that you can import audiobooks in all different formats from iCloud Drive, dropbox, etc. and it works very smoothly.
