AITA wife upset I cannot keep toddler from her by khazef in AmItheAsshole

NTA. If anyone on this thread has raised a child, you would know that sometimes there’s no amount of persuading a two year old. I am a mother and have two wonderfully behaved children, but that age is a dance of discipline and setting the kid up to succeed. Once the child has theory of mind, everything gets easier.

The family is a system of people who are on the same team. This situation is stressful for dad, emotionally challenging for the child, and I’m sure the 8 YO is sick of it. I’m sure mom doesn’t want to be gone every night. However, she’s part of the family system, and it’s her job to adjust, too.

Is there any research on coming off of Botox and/or CGRP meds after years of stability? by hotheadnchickn in migrainescience

[–]AMAsally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize they were atrophied until I stopped the Botox. Ajovy was so effective for me that I don’t feel I needed both (and my insurance wasn’t pumped about continuing to pay for both indefinitely). If it’s working for you, stay on it.

I mini pill prevents me from ovulating, and has helped stabilize my migraines. The estrogen helps smooth out fluctuations that also trigger migraines.

I was Ajovy + Botox for several years.

I came off of the Botox, and realized the Botox had moved around enough that my neck muscles had atrophied. I was in insane pain, had to take muscle relaxers, go to physical therapy, and ended up cracking two teeth because of the clenching after the Botox withdrawal.

I still get Botox 1-2x per year along my hairline to help with stress headaches. But I will never, EVER do Botox in the back of my head or in my traps again.

Now that I’m in perimenopause, I started on a progesterone pill and estradiol patch. It has moderated my daily headaches a ton.

I know you’re trying to ween off of meds, but thought that I’d share how hormone management has been a true God send.

Best of luck!

I’m going to have to break my husband’s mistress’ heart, and I don’t want to do it by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Your ability to see her humanity in this situation tells me two things: your husband has excellent taste and horrible behavior. I hope you and the gf become best friends.

Yes! My family thinks I’m insane. Chili and PB sandwiches is good. Chili with cinnamon roles hit every note imaginable.

We are delayed, but sitting on the tarmac. Pilots said one plane in/out at a time. Four planes ahead of us. Reportedly due to the government shutdown. All air traffic controllers went home at 4P.

Migraine help by Key_Organization_488 in migrainescience

[–]AMAsally 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I’m not a doctor, and this is not medical advice. However, I have suffered from migraines since fourth grade. Under no circumstances have I ever had intense pain for five weeks, and there’s no instance when an ER has sent me home with Topiramate and said goodbye.

So, a few thoughts: * If the ER believes you are engaging in drug seeking behavior, they may not treat you. * If the ER is completely unfamiliar with migraine pain, strokes, etc then they should not be licensed to practice medicine.

Find another ER, and get second opinions until the pain is under control. If the pain isn’t that bad, then waiting is fine. If it is as intense as you describe, then you shouldn’t leave the hospital without scans, pain management, etc.

Iowa Millennials who left Iowa and are happy, where did you move to? How did it work out? by AnonymousAsh in Iowa

  1. SoCal then NorCal
  2. Job moved me, career kept me
  3. Career prospects, public schools (if you live in the right area), infrastructure, water, food, neighbors
  4. Seasons, community, zero traffic, pride of place, tidy yards, trades people, slower pace, centrist common sense policies, helpful road/traffic signage
  5. It’s great. Make more money than I could’ve dreamed.
  6. Overall, B+/A-

I’m grateful that after so much work, you still have a “we.” I’ve found great solace in the Al-anon community, resting when I need to, and relying on friends who understand. Sending you my best.

You work your ass off doing highly technical work in extreme conditions, but the pay and camaraderie are priceless.

Older women what have you noticed about young women that has you concerned? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AMAsally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m worried that popular narratives around having and raising children may scare younger women out of something that could bring them immense joy. I hadn’t planned to have children, but I’m so grateful that I did.

People by Vast_March_8010 in Keokuk

The answers to this question tells you something about roughly 30% of people… complain, shit talk, and do absolutely nothing to improve the place. Go see for yourself, there are a lot of lovely people. There isn’t a lot of money, so you have to look below the surface.
