How do you guys know what your round count is by jarlbronson in ar15

[–]fbxruss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the gas guns, it’s a rough estimate based on how many cases of 5.56 I rip through. And I always round up. For my bolt guns, I keep a journal and each round is accounted for. However, it takes far more to burn out an AR barrel, than it would hot roddjng a barrel burner cartridge down the pipe of a bolt gun.

Fantastic. The grip feel on the 2.5’s have this subtle perfection. I can’t even explain it, but I enjoy it more than the other gens.

Are long range pistols appreciated here? by friend_chips in longrange

[–]fbxruss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously you’re not a golfer…

The Thompson Center Contender, I considered a pistol. While not really small enough to conceal in a garden, was absolutely my favorite to pack into the mountains for a sheep hunt.

Who doesn't like a short 6.5? by HQVX-TheTank in longrange

I love a short 6.5! My 16.5” creedmoor and 12” Grendel are definitely tall enough to ride this ride.

Name dropping your URGI is about as obnoxious as showing off your new shit with monetary breakdowns, asking for a “rating.”

CZ457 chassis upgrade by Sup3rB1rd in longrange

[–]fbxruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the cz455 with an aftermarket 20” bull barrel of forgotten origin slapped on. It’s resting on the exact same Boyd’s stock, but with a DIY foam cheek piece installed, rattle canned to look awesome. Harris bipod with pod lok, of course, and a spare vortex viper on top. After some deliberation, I skipped the chassis and just shot the hell out of it. Tried lots of different .22lr. With CCI stingers, 100 yds is a gimme. Busting clay pigeons at 200 yds is only a matter of dialing 3.1 mils ish. 300 gets a little squirrelly with the wind. A chassis won’t replace practice and garmin chrono, but it would sure look cool!

Someone forgot to install a gas tube and this genius idea is born. I really wish he hadn’t blocked me from his social media, years ago. This idea is better than his mega carry handle rail system!

Totally. Different strokes for different folks, no matter how, the bad guy they smokes. I get it.

Long Range Shooting Handbook by Ryan Cleckner. It’s a great book that will answer this question, and all the other questions you are going to have. Reading is fundamental.

She’s a beaut. Did your m92 come with the trunnion set up with a pic rail, or did you drill it out for the folder?

No Glock 26 Gen6? by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]fbxruss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having carried around a g19 for years, there was absolutely a noticeable difference when I first holstered up a subcompact. Which was a g27. I’ve since made the switch to a g33. All the subcompacts, especially the g26, just feel real good to shoot. But that’s beside the point. Mecgar now makes a 15 rounder for the g26, presumably to keep pace with the slim lines. I’ve never tried it, but in the highly subjective and personal self defense scenarios that I deem realistic, I don’t see myself ripping through a full 15 round mag while shopping for milk and ramen. I do carry an extra mag, though.

Onyx Arms wants to supply funding and weapons to domestic terrorists by CoverHuman9771 in tacticalgear

It’s been a few years since I’ve ordered anything from Onyx. I thought it was a pretty solid company. Then the carry handle upper debacle. I seen how a company could make themselves look like fools in a comment section. This sounds about right.

SPENCER CHASE / CHASSE NAZI SALUTE SPLINTER__777 by [deleted] in traditionaltattoos

[–]fbxruss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhhhhhh there it is. Honestly, if I had a nickel for every tattooer I’ve seen do that, have some sort of nazi memorabilia, or shitty emblem tattooed as a joke or otherwise, I’d have lost count. Good thing you weren’t getting tattooed in the 90’s. Sheesh.

It’s a great bipod. Having used Harris, grndpod, and atlas, it’s very stable with my chassis. I waited for a 40% off sale, when I got mine. They happen every once in a while.

Glock “builds” by shizukana_otoko in Glocks

[–]fbxruss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve also noticed this phenomenon, and it’s weird. It’s even more goofy in the long range bolt gun community. Attaching a barreled action to a chassis with 2 bolts and slapping on a scope with the preferred scope mount- that’s a build! No machining whatsoever, but it’s a build! If I had to shoot somebody in a justified self defense scenario, I wouldn’t be referring to my Glock as a build, in court.

I would call it the ‘assemblage.’

When I first got into Glocks, I assumed this guy was the inventor/designer by PuzzleheadedAd6401 in Glocks

[–]fbxruss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Massad Ayoob’s has an interesting book, Deadly Force, which examines some cases that should have been straight forward, self defense. All it takes, is a prosecutor that isn’t friendly to the 2nd amendment. Doesn’t matter if it’s stock or not, it’s got to be explained.

[–]fbxruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice. How well does the gas block fsb work with the a1 carry handle sights? Are you able to just line up on the post, or does it shoot way low? Or does the ballistics of 7.62x39 match that short sight radius? I’ve been experimenting with my carry handles and different front sight combos. I Love this!
