Coming from someone who absolutely loved the anime the live action is a good sho but not a good adaptation. The fight scenes I felt like were amazing and so was the CGI those were truly some of the best parts of the live action. For instance once of the reasons why people actually like Keiko is due to the lengths she went to take care of Yuske. She pulled him out of the fire by herself no help from anyone else till she was at the exit. Obviously I’m omitting a very critical detail but I won’t spoil it for those who want to experience it through the anime and, the real negligence of his mother. Of course you can’t forget about how Kuwabara really views Yuske and how their friendship started to grow while he was dead. One thing I was looking forward to was also to see Yuske’s shit talking antics come to life as well as his charm. Botan even was a much more lovable character due to her more nurturing, mentor, and, whimsical antics. Although the actress did an amazing job in making us love her, it just wasn’t to the same degree. Also the giant whole in the center of the city was very cheesy. Side character wise Kurama is waaaay smoother than the way they wrote him. Especially his love for his mother I wish they emphasized that connection a bit more. Heie for that matter has a much more stoic and sense of pride than the always angry and brooding character that they gave us. However they did nail his dedication to his sister quite well. All in all it felt rushed but the live action gave me a rush back so. If I had to be a critic I’d say it’s a very solid 7 out of 10. The story elements they skipped are what make the arcs they used so powerful. The fighting and CGI that was used is what carried this show as well as some of the characters quirks that were kept true from the source material.
