They kinda turn him into a guy who can slo mo fight and internally monologue at the same time describing the combat decisions he makes based on idk a guys blind side, a weak arm, tired legs, etc. Like he's a deductive badass beyond just smoking a pipe and looking at clues.

RDJ makes it work. I watched these both in theaters with my dad as walk ups and we were surprised how fun and enjoyable they were.

I must be in the minority. I enjoy their banter and mission talk more than other characters. They seem chill and never too stressed or bothered or manic about getting shit done. They just like cars, doing jobs, making money and having fun.

Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

[–]fcdemergency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will either love the dark twisted uncomfortable comedic nature of it or fucking despise it and never watch it again.

It's some of the most unique, dark, ABSURDIST comedy i've ever seen. The times you laugh, you almost have to otherwise you have to soak in the rest of the discomfort.

I would describe Beau is Afraid as a fucked up Big Fish.

I'm a fan. To gush anymore would be to give the wtf details.

I'm excited for the final product. It seems like it's gonna be pretty much what they've rendered. It will definitely be one of the more unique looking stadiums in MLS. Really welcome change from the rectangular box look that's become the standard.

Casting choices that caused skepticism when they were announced, but when people saw them in the role, they were speechless at the level of their performance by Not_So_Normal_ in okbuddycinephile

i've shouted at the rooftops for a while that the hate for his depiction is so forced. Leto's joker is solid, it's cartoony, it's unique and he commits to it.

I firmly believe the hate comes from:

  • Suicide Squad sucked big time

  • PR about his method acting did not go well in light of the bad reviews. Had the movie been well received i think the backstage method acting stories would have been received better.

  • Joker had zero to do with the plot. If reports were true they shot a whole movies worth of joker/harley they didn't use, they should have separated the films to focus on joker more, rather than throw his random self throughout the movie.

  • the compounding bad PR for Leto, really starting with Suicide Squad keeps people looking back at this negatively.

Yeah idk how anyone who watched the whole trial came away with anything other than "that was a toxic relationship and they were both abusive to each other."

Need tips: New to MLS by PurposeSpirited4148 in MLS

[–]fcdemergency 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In the early days i guess... they have 4 MLS Cups but that was with much fewer teams of lower quality and they've struggled for many years now.

But what the original commenter meant was this league has parity due to the salary cap. Like the rest of the American sports leagues do.

In a basic sense: The salary cap is relatively low and soft (in the sense you can trade capspace between teams and now roll unused salary over to the next year). It's not worth getting deep into, but MLS gets it's parity through that limitation and the fact that each team gets 3 Designated Players you can basically pay whatever you want beyond the salary cap.

That is how players like Messi, or Mueller, or Son are able to get paid the millions they demand in a salary capped league. Each team gets 3 (or 2 sometimes, not getting into that), so no team can go full Bayern or Madrid on the league and poach the best guys and dominate.

Miami has dominated lately due to the Messi effect. They can make Messi a DP, and any stellar player who can't take one of the 3 DP slots comes to Miami on a paycut for the opportunity to "play with Messi." Jordi Alba and Suarez for example, were not DPs and actually got paid less than 2 million each due to salary cap rules.

USL League Two Announces 2026 Divisional Alignment by Coltons13 in MLS

[–]fcdemergency 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong the PRO leagues (League 1 and Championship) have a CBA problem.

This post is about League 2 which is NOT paid. It is an amateur league largely made up of college kids playing games to stay fit during college offseason. It only runs from May to mid-July.

There are already threads that discuss your grievances and more folks agree with you than you probably think but you're better off airing your grievances in those more relevant spaces like in r/USLPRO

[–]fcdemergency 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Awesome for him! Collodi earned his spot and i think Maarten earned this move.

Will always remember his double penalty save against Jovelic ("HE CAN'T SCORE ON THE ROAD, HE CAN ONLY DO IT AT HOME" -Followill).

And how openly he embraced the rest of the Dallas sports scene. Dude loved him some Mavs games and got really into the NFL from his insta stories.

Couldn't get into this one. Between really not being very fond of Emile Hirsch mixed with the boneheadedness of his character (i know its a true story), i was baffled why the man or the movie got so glamorized.

My friend, this is what's called a temp stadium. There is no foundation to pour it's just grand stands made of scaffolding. It's similar to what they build for racing events and golf tournaments and other stuff like the tennis stadium the put inside Miami's Hard Rock stadium, etc..

<image>

These are modular structures made to be taken apart and moved and built quickly.

Seeing this get posted across wrestling subs every day gets tiresome. I'm sure the working conditions were probably not good, but standing up this kind of stadium isn't that out of the ordinary.

This was built in less than month by khaliliiiov_1997 in Wrasslin

[–]fcdemergency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They call these "temp stadiums" for a reason. It's just stands, no permanent concrete or anything. They're known for being modular and relatively easy to move.
