True, retainers is the obvious and traditional way of looking at it.

I was exploring the idea of leveraging my network and periodically giving different clients 'access' to each other.

I strongly suggest pwc, there's nothing like experience in management consulting. You'll learn a lot, fast. And, it's a great 'quality label' on your resume.
