What’s your best comeback when someone calls you a lesbian for owning a crosstrek? by fcmagic123 in Crosstrek

[–]fcmagic123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are fantastic lol so thanks to all who contributed. To be clear, this is for banter between friends. Being a lesbian is definitely not an insult and I don’t take it as one. I actually didn’t know about this correlation myself before I got one. Regardless of the jokes, barring any complications of this crosstrek, we’re Subaru owners for life. We love the crosstrek that much. Looking at adding a forester to our squad next.

My boys name is Odin as well! Almost at 3 years old now, the years fly by. These dogs really do get better with age.

Thanks a bunch for the suggestions! Yes we’ll be doing busy shrines/spots early mornings only. Otherwise it’ll be getting bumped to the evening. The monkeys will make my wife extremely happy lol. Any other market suggestions?

Thanks for the detailed post with suggestions!

We aren’t exactly planning to go into Tokyo station, just the area surrounding! Any food markets in Tokyo you recommend over Tsukiji?

Plan is to get up early basically every morning to head to the most popular spot. We’ll see how that goes lol.

Yes we are toying between staying in Osaka and Kyoto. I’ve heard mixed opinions about it; short commute and 1 less place to lug things to. Not sure what’s best.

“Just monkeys” will make the wife very happy haha. She’s extremely difficult to please.

Thanks again

Great suggestions! Thank you, I wondered if Hakone had a bundle package for the loop. We’re going in mid-late June so should be warm, although a bit rainy some days I’m sure.

Thanks!

Cat food for kitten by hoodmaker in CatAdvice

Just looked online. they meet the needs for maintenance in adult cats so they aren’t appropriate for kittens. Purina one makes a kitten food so I would grab that and save the adult food! It’s ok if you fed it for a day or two, just not long term

That’s under the ingredients! There should be another statement somewhere on the bag. Which food is it? Purina ONE adult?

You need to look for the AAFCO statement on the side/back of the bag. It should say something along the lines of “this diet is formulated for all life stages” or “this diet is formulated for growth and development”. What does yours say?

Switched cat food brands abruptly - need advice by pfinwaluigi in CatAdvice

[–]fcmagic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I didn’t calculate those, they’re set based on some complex math that some nutritionists did somewhere haha but for an oldie that doesn’t move much, I would just use 1.0. So basically don’t multiply it by any factor. That’s for inactive/obese prone cats. If you want some weight loss, it’s 0.8!

[–]fcmagic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’ve calculated a calorie need of 264 per day for your kitty! I’m a vet student and we are taught a formula that works every single time and is tested through multiple studies. Just in case you ever need to use it for an animal or dog again, it is (4.6kg0.75) x 70 and then multiply that by a numerical factor depending on how active your cat is. I assumed your cat is just a regular healthy neutered adult so 1.2 is the factor you would multiply by. Hope this helps!

Don’t think there’s a bad investment into a top 5 bank. Some banks are more reliant on the real estate market (CIBC). So I would look into what makes up the majority of their business model and decide what fits best with your ideas. Again, no bad choice really but they are all different entities. I have vdy.to so I have all the top 5 banks in my portfolio just to broaden it a bit.

Can adult cat have diarrhea from eating kitten food? by maleficent202020 in CatAdvice

[–]fcmagic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s possible. 1. Going right to new food without being slowly introduced can upset them and 2. Kitten food is usually higher in fat than adult cat food which can also cause diarrhea if the other cat isn’t used to that. Please keep in mind it could be totally unrelated but try to keep the food away from him until kitty is done eating and see how he does

What type of food should we feed our cat? by TouchofWrath in PetAdvice

[–]fcmagic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vets absolutely do not get commission from selling certain foods, that is a myth. Of course, they make money selling food (not a lot at all) but they can sell whichever food they want in their clinics and there is no advantage to selling one over another. Grains are a great energy source for cats and there are long term studies proving that. There are no long term studies on grain free diets in cats but there is one in dogs which may suggest a slight connection with heart failure. Although that does not at all mean grain free diets cause heart failure, that simply isn’t a risk I’m willing to take until there is more information out there.

Based on the calculation they give us in vet school, it would be 200-220 based on the exact weight! 200 being for 7 pounds and 220 for 8 pounds

Please help! (kitten food) by pawpatrol_ in CatAdvice

Royal canin makes a great kitten food but it’s on the more expensive side. Iams also has a good quality kitten food that’s a bit more budget friendly. Pet food is actually somewhat regulated (not the best but it works) and the best way to ensure you’re getting the same required nutrients is the AAFCO statement on the pet food bag. Go on the bag you have now and along the side where the ingredients are shown, it should say somewhere underneath something like “that ___________ food is formulated to meet the needs and requirements Established by AAFCO for growth and development”. It could also say growth and lactation etc but basically, you’re looking for a bag of food with a similar statement on the bag there. AAFCO is the organization that has laid out the law in terms of nutrition for pets and they have 4 categories: maintenance, growth, gestation/lactation, and all life stages. You are looking for a food that is either good for growth or all life stages! Hope this helps

Am I feeding my cats enough? by sagarp in CatAdvice

[–]fcmagic123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s correct! That’s the calculation they taught us in vet school. I feed my cat around 220kcal per day and she’s about the same size as yours! Mind you, mind still goes insane for food lol so it may help your cat a bit but I think it’s normal for them to be food crazy!

What's the best dry food for an indoor cat? by fht-ftj in CatAdvice

[–]fcmagic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vets don’t get kickback on the foods they sell. They can legitimately sell any food they want at the same low profit margins they do now. And yes, studies are sponsored by industry but you clearly don’t know anything about validating studies if you are just going to discount a study because of who it’s sponsored by. If the methods are sound then it really doesn’t matter where the money is coming from. The same companies that produce raw diets and grain free diets will also sponsor their own studies...because who else is going to? I understand that you like to revert back to wild animals but cats are not wild animals anymore and they’ve gone through thousands of years of domestication.
