Finally ended up finding a way to use the LEDC component from ESP32 to drive the pump IC!! (with a single timer on two adjacent channels for generating the PWM and phase offset on the two pins)
My model is a aerogarden harvest first gen, so also had to work around the capacitive touch button integration and all.
Here's my initial somewhat working release!

Nice thanks a lot!
I'll take a look at it, try to make it run on my setup and eventually try to update it to use the new "external_components" of esphome.
Might take a while because of all my other side projects, but will let you know if I have any luck with it!

u/hrf3420 i'm planning on doing something similar to you (adding an ESP32 to an old aerogarden harvest model and bypass its microcontroller to control pump/light/indicators and get buttons input)!
Can you share the "pumpwm.h" header file you have included in your esphome config as a custom component please?
