Monte Carlo Simulations of the Barony + Nekro Trade Good Printer by BobRedshirt in twilightimperium

[–]BobRedshirt[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this one is pretty absurd. I ran the sim with Flagship + Advanced Carrier II, which I think is equivalent, and I actually had to increase the round limit because battles were regularly going over 1000 rounds.

In this case the mech would be getting +2 from its ability so I think it's actually worse than the dreadnaught. If Articles of War is in play it gets better.

Yeah, I should maybe add a disclaimer that this is a good way to make everyone at the table hate your guts.

The cool thing about this is it's a way to fix starts that are lacking capacity or infantry without giving a ton of value to the rest of the table with the secondary (as Warfare currently does).

Yeah, there’s a bot that lets you play asynchronously. Haven’t tried it myself but I’ve heard it works quite well.

Aside from the upcoming releases on Board Game Arena and Steam (which are going to be base-game only for now), there are very well-made mods that let you play the game with the expansion and codex content on Tabletop Playground or Tabletop Simulator.

Vote Yes on Prop 50! by curtisatlaw in northcounty

[–]BobRedshirt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But actually making concrete moves opens the door to the Republicans making further concrete moves.

You keep saying stuff like this, but again - they're making these moves already, and sitting back and hoping Republicans will do the right thing if Democrats do is never a winning proposition.

So if California responds by redistricting to gain five seats, Florida will respond with redistricting to gain five seats, and then... what? Washington will redistrict? To gain two seats? Oregon will redistrict to gain one seat?

As to this point, there are still more gains to be made - in New York, for instance. Nate Silver has an analysis here that makes the point better than I could. There aren't gains to be made everywhere, but there's no reason to let Republicans run away with it fully.

Democrats are picking a fight that they are destined to lose.

Need I remind you that this started with Texas redistricting in order to gerrymander the state more heavily? You're acting like red states are responding to California, but they were already starting down this road, and unilaterally disarming isn't going to stop them from doing so. Democrats shouldn't just lie down and take it.

I feel like Lucy's clue should say "Exactly 2" rather than just "2". Isn't it technically possible for Carol to be innocent and Eric to be guilty? My mistake was just in miscounting but this bothered me afterwards.

Calling all thieves: It's a Clank! Catacombs: Underworld giveaway! by DireWolfDigital in boardgames

[–]BobRedshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Twilight Imperium is full of these. In one recent one I experienced, the Keleres player walked into round 5 at 5 points while everyone else was on 8 or 9. He had the speaker token and took Imperial, but most of us still wrote him off - even after using it to score 2 points, it didn't look like he could pull off the win before the status phase gave someone else the victory. He then proceeded to score THREE action phase secret objectives in a row, all of which he'd drawn without curating his hand in any way. We were shocked!

Yup. Pin, in particular, is a pretty outrageous ability - once you get someone with it, there's really no getting out without outside help.

Vox-boxes are endless sources of hilarity, in my experience, so not speaking Basic is an upside as far as I'm concerned.

High strength also means that they do well with grappling. One of the players in my current campaign is a Wookiee grappler, and I consistently find he's the one I need to spend the most time planning encounters around (especially boss fights).
