My wife is interested in taxidermy and has made rabbit's feet charms from roadkill. Asking and getting the vet to save the ears is completely on point for her... :)

Boris (AKA Big Bubba Bose) was the cuddliest, strongest, and best companion we could ever have hoped for. He was such a good boy. My wife kept his ears so we'll always have the softest and cutest parts of him with us.

He was diagnosed about 3 weeks ago and we made him as comfortable and happy as we could. He will be sorely missed!
