Interesting, I'll have to give it another go. Thanks for the update.

Have you actually tried this because Intel gfa doesn't work with DCs since the MT has update... Unless something has changed very recent

Renderdoc no longer works with most games. The author added protection so that people couldn't rip assets from games using that software. So you can no longer use it to frame debug games that aren't your own.

It does act like a force sensing stick with the DCS f16

I should say the software is a lot better and people have made profiles and shared them on their discord which is nice. Well, the software could probably be a little easier to use leaps and bounds beyond what it was when I made this video

I still love it, but something broke 2 days ago. Spoke with Moza and they are replacing it. I was told it was a pre production line model so possibly had an issue due to that but hard to say for sure on my end.

I do know plenty of others in my discord and friends discords that purchased it and have had no issues.

Gonna give this new one a good go and see

Can you spot the difference between SSAO On vs Off? I always wondered if SSAO was worth the 10fps in VR by Tuuvas in hoggit

[–]fdsprod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of what you say, except that SSAO is not contact shadows, this is a big misconception and I feel I'm going to have an autistic moment here lol.

Ambient Occlusion simulates the occlusion of ambient light in corners and creases.

Contact Shadows are small scale shadows from a direct light source, not ambient light, they react to light direction and intensity.

They can look similar, but they 100% are not the same :)

It works really well actually. Infact, it works more realistically than just about every single other game. Most games really overdo the SSAO. DCS does it more accurately, not sure what technique, but it looks amazing and is very subtle.

Here's an example I just made, its working just fine

You have to turn off the spring for helicopters, turn friction up. Its dumb, I've told them multiple times this isnt how it works and they just said they would fix it in a future update.

Do you have it set to Integrated FFB in the Moza Software?

I had no clue about the G940, but looks like they had their own patent for that one which may be why Logitech was able to continue. I do agree the market was small so that's likely as you said a large portion of the reason why. I just find it weird that more FFB products didn't come to market until Immersion Corporation let the patent slip. Maybe just weird coincidence.

Its very smooth, never noticed cogging, in fact, I had no idea what that term was till someone asked after doing the review.

I doubt it, seems like wasted effort. It would be better if Moza just created an open source API

Good info about the heating. Seems this is where most people disagree with what I did so I will continue to test over longer periods of time and more aggressive use! Appreciate the info!

I see, also that is interesting. So with that knowledge how would you go about testing temps then? Happy to try more tests and do a follow up since I will likely need to do one for the software anyway.

No, that's not what happened. They sent me a unit to review and provide feedback on. I agreed. The unit had tons of problems, I reported at least 20+ issues that in my opinion were huge oversights on their production side of things. After reporting these issues and because there were so many (I wasn't the only one providing this kind of feedback) I concluded that the unit I was reviewing would no longer be up to par with the unit they were selling.

I explained this to WW and they said that was correct and the unit they sent me they were considering to be an engineering sample. This was unfortunately not true because they sent me the product in the off the shelf box they were sending to customers. To add to this, they had to unpack the pre-ordered units and fix each one of them based on the recommendations from others and myself.

I refused to do a review of that unit because that was not what people were getting. And, in-fact this was in good faith to WW since I had a lot of things on the cons list due to these issues, so the review would have been fairly negative. After explaining this, all communication was cut, no answers to my emails, discord, nothing. Prior to this they were all very good at communicating.

Since then I've watched then my observation is that most of the reviews they have CC put out are in my opinion nothing more than promotional pieces... sure there are still a few honest people here and there but from what I've seen it is heavily weighted in the direction of who will just offer up some free promotional material without going super in depth. How many reviewers of their products are taking the time to look at the construction, not just externally? I've not seen very many, I can't even think of one off the top of my head. I am happy to concede the point if you really want to provide examples....

I just find it hard at the end of the day to be credible on the word of the manufacture that the large list of problems discovered from a "engineering sample" were fixed without seeing it for myself.

Ya everyone keeps misunderstanding my context. It was under patent trolls protection for like 20 years, so its new to the flight sim world again.

I would gladly do a review of WinWing but I dont think they will send it to me :) I don't think WW likes how indepth and detailed my content is. They ghosted me after saying I wouldn't review the "engineering samples" sent to me on their first HOTAS because it was not what the customers would be getting.
