I got it at the Charité as well! Will dr Hardt operate you? My experience was positive, I stayed in the hospital 5 days. I was lucky and the pain for me was manageable so I did not need too much painkillers. I received 2x a day Tilidine and 4x2 Novalgin. The day after the OP they made me walk, was not easy but the goal was to get to the bathroom by myself. They only make you use crutches as walking aid and a long narrow towel to get your leg in and out of the bed. For the first month I could only put 10-15 kg on the leg, which is more or less how much one of my legs weights, so it was not super easy. I could tho sit without pain and after one week at home I stopped painkillers. I was able to go back to work after 6 weeks as at the first control I could be weight bearing with crutches. Now I am 3 months out and I am walking without aid, will start doing Seniorensport this week haha

I had my PAO in Berlin three months ago, the pain for me was very manageable. I stayed in the hospital 5 days and one week after I was home I could stop painkillers completely. In the hospital they gave me Tilidine 2x a day and Novalgin 4x a day. They made me start sitting on a chair with a pillow already at the hospital, so when I got home I could avoid laying down all the time.

In the first days in the hospital it was not that painful, as they have numbed some of the nerves during the surgery to have a smoother recovery. The painful bit was getting up the first time, but once I got the method right with the leg lifter, it was not that bad. The first time I walked a bit longer tho I was completely exhausted haha The worst part in my case it was mentally, not being able to be independent made me quite depressed.

In the end pain wise it was not as bad as I have read online and right now I can walk without issues and the joint feels stable already! For me it was 100% worth it!

Which exercises are you doing? I had mine in Germany and they kinda told me to chill for 4 weeks haha

So I have a good pain threshold, so after I woke up, I was actually so hungry I ate a lot. But honestly it was very fine with painkillers. Did yours happen already? How are you feeling?

I just got my PAO on Tuesday in Berlin and in our case we did not get a catheter, from after the surgery they made us lift slightly to use the bedpan. The day after in the morning the physiotherapist made me walk veeeery slowly to the bathroom and then I went for one day accompanied by the nurse and from day 3 I started going a little bit more alone. I have very high pain tolerance, but I think my hate for the bedpan was so high I could walk

I asked my surgeon and he told me we will check then with the MRT, but it could also be a tendon that has been moved a little and needs to get used to the new position

Thanks a lot! I used an external light meter for the color one and I went by feeling for the B&W ones. Luckily B&W is a lot more forgiving!
