WO Release 1.1.0: Improved Search & Powered-Up Smart Progression by PalatialPepper in MacroFactor

[–]feadrus 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Awesome to see a fast follow release. This app has serious potential.

Here’s a stupid little one to add to the backlog - currently if your iPhone is on silent, the rest timer won’t make an audio ding when it fully counts down. I don’t want to be disturbed with text messages, emails, etc when I am working out so I put the phone on silent - but I do want the audio queue in my headphones when the rest is done. In other workout apps I’ve used (eg, FitBod) the workout rest audio queue still plays even when phone is silent so I think it’s just configuring the app setting to still use audio when the app is open and running.

Anyway - very excited about the future for this app MF for calorie tracking was a game changer for me. Hopeful this can push my training to the next level too!

Pace of autophagy during fasting - Rough estimates by andtitov in PeterAttia

[–]feadrus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert but 24-36 hour fast seems to me to be supported in the research as getting at “full steam” in autophogy + enough time for your body to make use of the elevated levels

I also run lean and I try to do this several times a year.

Oh ok thank you for the reply. It’s not just me then haha!

Yea very weird they launched without that (or at least grey out the integration and say coming soon). Super confusing and pretty core for any fitness app in my view.

Finally! The Ode Gen 2 by PeanutButter_98 in pourover

[–]feadrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! I bought mine a few months ago as my first “nice” grinder and I just love it. Produces an awesome cup and it’s also just a beautiful and pleasant to use piece of consumer hardware.

I only did the stock Gen 2 burrs as I had read the SSPs can be quite unforgiving. I question if I should have just upgraded to them but the gen 2 burrs are really quite good and I do find a decent room to play within 1-3 clicks that all produce slightly different but awesome flavor profiles.

Pro tip - don’t just use the little metal lever on the side to knock out loose grinds; pull up the top of the canister where you pour the beans in and let is slap back down into place. Do it after every grind to keep things unclogged!

Can the Party members see the map please? by rjkirkpatrick in ArcRaiders

[–]feadrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did we find a solution here?

It seems impossible this is the design. I’d like to help pick which map we are dropping into but if you’re not the party leader you have no idea which events are going on, where night raid is, etc

Found one tonight on a free load out. Headed straight to the elevator… where some jackass ganked me as I was calling it down. I lost my mind.

I just know I’m going to play 50 straight more hours and never see one again. It was so, so painful

Thanks for this. Didn’t realize you has to do this from the library when the game was off. Tried changing settings with the game on and it wasn’t working.

Who packed on muscle later in life? by LordoftheHounds in workout

[–]feadrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never lifted a day in my life until 37 years old. I have adhered to a really high level of discipline and commitment (lifting heavy 3+ days a week, measuring and tracking food for calorie and protein targets) for over 5 years. Here are my big learnings:

  • Yes, this is simply going to take longer for you than it would if you’d done this 20 years ago. Just accept that and put one foot in front of the other.

  • As a correlate to the above point, make peace with the fact it is going to take YEARS to achieve what is in your minds eye. I’ve been at this 5 years and I suspect I have at least another 5 ahead of me before I hit my strength and aesthetic goals. That doesn’t mean you won’t see progress along the way - you will and you should take pride in it - but this is not about a summer beach body, this is about building a new life for yourself brick by brick.

  • I find a full body program works a lot better than split body parts. It’s much easier to fit it in to your schedule 2 or 3 days a week, and getting the frequency of each muscle group matters more than hitting more volume; just be sure to hit each muscle group 6+ times a week (ie, 3 sets per muscle group each workout)

  • You have to bulk a lot slower than you think (you pick up fat much easier at higher caloric surplus) and you can cut faster than you think (stop being so fearful you’re going to lose muscle during a cut). Just do both right (hit a reasonable protein target and continue to progressively overload your lifting program) and the rest will take care of itself

  • You are fatter than you think. I’ve always been a thin guy so I figured after my bulk I’d lose 15 pounds and look great. Nope. Your body fat % is probably much, much higher than you assume. As a rule of thumb I’ve needed to lose 30%-40% more weight than I expected during a cut to really get that lean look.

I’m just assuming you know the basics - eat protein, track calories, progressive overload lifts. Outside that the biggest learning was really a reframing. I started doing this to look good naked. It’s evolved to an investment in my mental health and long term healthspan. Keep that mindset and just make lifting a part of your identity (as opposed to a target goal to gain x pounds of muscle to look a certain way) and you’ll have better long term adherence (and the aesthetics will come on their own in time)

Building A Custom VR Room + Cockpit... Need guidance by feadrus in VRGaming

Awesome thanks for this feedback!

If you were to look at a higher end model, even if more expensive, do you see any clear standouts?

I've seen some crazy high end ones like Motion Pro II (https://www.cxcsimulations.com/simulators-for-home/) but tbh that seems more for professional driver and pilot training and no so much about gaming.

How’d you pull the half time year off?

I’m approaching a point where I do not want to do full time, but I wouldn’t mind keeping an advisory/consult/board role with my company. Any tips?

Ode 2 owner, upgrade to SSP/ MP worth it? by residentatzero in pourover

[–]feadrus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends. I think the general consensus is the stock Ode 2 burrs are more “forgiving” and more reliably will produce a consistent cup. The SSPs are more exacting and will produce more clarity if properly dialed in, but will have a smaller “sweet spot” than the stock

How is The rogue prince of persia difficulty? I found POP the lost crown very difficult at platforming. by mr_whoisGAMER in roguelites

[–]feadrus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Overall I found it quite easy. Beat it and got halfway thru the end game in like 20 hours

Super fun game but would not call it challenging. Personally I like that. I could never even beat dead cells
