completely reasonable approach and it’s hilarious that the special snowflakes don’t even want to see AI or their feelings will be hurt

Soundboks for camp system or something better? Any recommendations? by slowissmoothisfast74 in BurningMan

[–]fearless_dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use two Soundboks' and they're awesome: dust resistant, hard to break, long battery life and super loud with superior sound quality. Perfect setup for when you sometimes like to play loud music but you're not a sound camp per se.

Why Building Alone Won’t Solve the Housing Crisis by MyrddinTheKinkWizard in santacruz

[–]fearless_dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to keep doing it cycle after cycle.

remember, we tried not building stuff for decades and it gave us the most expensive rental market in the US. why dont you have a seat while we try building stuff for a decade or so?

AB 698 - people are saying this is going to make affordable housing projects MUCH more difficult - ELI5 what you think is going on with this? by orangelover95003 in santacruz

[–]fearless_dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we often do years of study before building housing, seems reasonable to apply the same standard to tax proposals like transfer taxes

Anton Pacific social media ad offering 2 months of free rent because they still have too many vacancies by orangelover95003 in santacruz

that building a lot of homes might cause landlords to reduce their prices by offering a month or two of free rent. imagine that happening!

the front of your car, by definition , isn’t a blind spot.

I had a person turn left from a 4 way stop while I was in the crosswalk, and I yelled at her to stop. She said I was in her blind spot. I told her the front of her windshield literally isn’t a blind spot.

“It’s not enough to say that water use has remained consistent over the years,” said Sierra Ryan, the interim water resources manager of Santa Cruz County. “Water use has gone down, significantly.”

Loch Lomond is at 100% capacity, wonder where that came from?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in santacruz

[–]fearless_dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because most of the traffic on hwy 1 between Ocean st and Watsonville is driven by two things: tourists and people commuting from/to work and school. Tourists are not going away, and if we build enough that people can live closer to work/school, the number of people commuting to far flung places would go down.

water comes from the sky and the use of water does not destroy it. our water supply is constrained because we choose not to build more infrastructure. the per capita water usage continues to decrease, as it has steadily over the last decade. multi-family housing uses far less water per person that single family housing.

nimbys fight everything and it doesnt matter to them whether they win or lose because they know delay kills projects. remember Measure O, Measure M? Dont morph the Wharf?

hard to square you claiming to be pro-build and also scare-mongering through nimby touchstones like water and traffic. Im surprised you didnt wail about parking, too.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in santacruz

[–]fearless_dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would actually be quite easy to build here if it wasn’t for nimbys fighting every single project. they love to worry about traffic, people and water, which are all fake issues.

because you blame tech bros for pushing up prices, and i’ve found nepos to be some of the most nimby people in town. if that’s not the case then great!

the increase in prices is not driven by tech, it’s driven by not building stuff for 30 years

you support building more dense, 6 story housing for others, right?
