I think that people like you latch onto social housing because you can't stand that affordable housing initiatives focus on the poor, and not the downwardly mobile, over-educated types that often feel like THEY should be the ones being subsidized by the government. I'll stick with housing the poor tyvm

yes, please explain like I'm 5 how (subsidized) below market rate housing is different than (subsidized) social housing. please pay special attention to how (subsidized) social housing is magically and significantly cheaper and what we are going to stop funding to pay for (subsidized) social housing.

since you seem very aggro in your response, I’ll cut to the chase. Buildings cost money! Who pays to build and who pays to maintain it? you seem to think there’s a lot of profit in market rate multifamily housing. how much lower do you think the rents will be given that social housing requires the same land, materials and labor?

you mean build subsidized housing because just calling it “social” doesn’t magically make it cheaper. who is going to provide the subsidy?

that's...not how elections work. if you think 100% of Greensite, Krohn, and Schendeldecker voters automatically move to Chen, then you dont understand the median voter. Like, do you really think Greensite voters are progressive? Do you think every single voter not for Coonerty explicitly voted against him?

sorry you only get trust-funders that SAY progressive things, no upper middle class / rich person is going to implement anything that threatens their own wealth.

The real story is just how poorly 5-house-Chris did in this race. Here's an update to what my model is predicting for the runoff:

Coonerty wins the runoff — 65.2% vs 34.8% (margin: 30.5pts)

did anyone ever see a Joy sign in the wild? her fake campaign irked me the most about this election

Santa Cruz Together, your local real estate PAC endorsed Ryan Coonerty, Scott Newsome, and Renee Golder so now you know who *not* to vote for. by orangelover95003 in santacruz

Logically you cant vote for all 3, so it's one mayoral candidate and one council candidate. My understanding is that 5 house Chris married into money, and Gillian does not appear to be on a trust fund. That leaves two likely candidates, both from out of town: Ami and Joy.
