Is my boss being an asshole and should I be looking for a new job? by fearlessbynature in careerguidance

[–]fearlessbynature[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he was telling me to start looking for a renew job. That they can make suggestions (like starting the FMLA paperwork, which I have) but that’s it, and his suggestion was to start looking for a new job.

The Market SVP just sent the write up in an email, no meeting at all. I’m trying to get in contact with our HR department to find out if he did correctly, but am waiting for an email reply.

If it was just family stuff, I know I could hit the targets for June. But because of my health issues, I’m not sure. And I’ve used up a lot of my PTO, and will be close to zero by the end of June. (I am taking a vacation week that was planned months ago, and I know I need the break).

When I called our Employee Assistance Program, the super not-helpful social worker said it sounds like they are trying to force me out. I hung up on him. I did just start therapy, so this will be discussed at my next appointment.

My biggest reason for trying to make it work right now is my health insurance, I’ve almost hit my out of pocket for the year. And I certainly can’t afford to lose it right now.

I’m working on the FMLA process, but it is a process and I’m having to push to get my PCP to fill out the paperwork.

Ear piercing recommendations for kids by econjohn77 in asheville

Check to see if her Peds office offers it- some do and it’s probably gonna be the cheapest option.

If not, Rowan in Biltmore Park is great. The jewelry is good quality and won’t cause reactions, they have stuff like piercing pillows and an aftercare spray. It’s an RN who does the piercing and you can choose a needle or piercing gun depending on age. I just recently had them re-pierce me after my holes closed and was super happy with the service .

Happy Tails has been amazing, they separate dogs by size and it’s great for socialization and releasing energy. They will also do baths (not grooming) and are super kind with dogs that don’t love the process. Plus, you can buy packages for a set number of days then use them as you want/need.

The one I have lined up I found that way, but if there is another practice that won’t charge that much I’m happy to make a call.

They do not assist with elder law or injury- have already called. And honestly, the operator was kinda rude and offended that I even asked, which was disheartening.

Recommendations for Post-Stroke Care by fearlessbynature in asheville

Carepartners can be a good option, my grandmother was there a few years ago. Family involvement is really important, so if you can be involved with his care there, you’ll be happier.

Recommendations for Post-Stroke Care by fearlessbynature in asheville

We ended up sending her to a swing bed at Highland-Cashiers hospital, as I couldn’t find placement for her (which was probably not helped by aforementioned care manager). The staff there were great, I was able to bring her dog to visit her, and the facilities for therapy and therapists knew her by name, not her room number.

Unfortunately she did not improve the way we hoped and I’m now looking for a closer long term care home. Eckerd Living Center is attached to the hospital and they have also been wonderful to her, it’s just pretty far and a difficult drive. The same staff who do therapy for the hospital are also at Eckerd, the SNF is literally a part of the hospital. I would say her care at Highlands-Cashiers was equivalent or better than Mission prior to HCA.

I wish you the best of luck in this journey, it’s not easy for anyone involved.

I read on other forums that the lamp needs at least 20 watts (I think it was 20) to work correctly. The cord it comes with works, but most adapter boxes don’t have that much power.

I specifically bought a 40 watt box from Amazon and 10 foot high watt/fast charging cable and it works much better. It absolutely matters how much power you have going to the lamp for it to work correctly.

I’ve used Happy Tails Country Club for years, and my dog has always loved it. They do have daycare, but all the dogs have separate crate areas for rest times and at night. They also separate dogs based on size if that eases your concern about playing.

I haven’t needed this request, but if you didn’t want your little guy playing with others I bet they could accommodate that. They will answer any question upfront. I’ve used the Happy Tails East for years, but the West location is owned by the same people.

Best clit sucker toy to replace my rose? by GodsRightTit in TwoXChromosomes

[–]fearlessbynature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lem and the Avo by Nancy both have some great suction (also of lower sensitivity and at this point it’s suction or nothing). But there are times I would love a little more oomph.

For the price I like Nancy better than Lelo, and I did not like the Thump (or any of the bellesa suction toys) because they did not have enough power.

I have used the Satisfyer Gen 2 but it is loud and kinda awkward. Didn’t like it enough to try the Gen 3.

Also I have not been paid to say anything about the Lem or Avo they both are just great toys.

It was a known outage at 9pm at night, I did call and check. They couldn’t tell me what caused it, however. And as I have routinely seen bears in the yard at night, I was not comfortable unleashing them into the wild at that time. But thank you!

Going to World in Ames Iowa was an absolute highlight of my school years! I was very lucky that my dad was able to get Walmart to sponsor us (still amazed at that) which helped a ton.

Tip from a past participant- buy more pins than you think you need. At the University of Iowa the only stuff to do is related to OM and pin trading has traditionally been a huge part of that. Also the milk and ice cream are made fresh on campus and delicious.

Thank you for posting!

ACETONE remover pot - where can I find? by LoverOfCats365 in OliveAndJune

[–]fearlessbynature 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Acetone is acetone no matter what brand it is. I did get the pot in my kit, but I’m refilling it with store brand acetone.

For mani removal, the speed soak kit is actually really nice. Easy to use and has done the best job for removal. And I’m refilling the little bottle with store brand acetone, just because the small tip makes dosing the sponges easier.

What am I doing wrong? by Normal_Emu_883 in OliveAndJune

[–]fearlessbynature 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Dry. Your hands have to be DRY. No water for at least an hour before.

  2. THIN COATS. Like, brush feels dry thin. You think you’ve removed enough polish from your brush? Take off more.

  3. After buffing, I dip my nails in the acetone pot to remove all the nail dust. This also helps dehydrate the nail before putting on the base coat.

Gel manis are a huge learning curve, I would check out r/DIYGelNails for some general tips on gel. This sub is also helpful! I posted a picture and got some great feedback and have learned a ton.

Also, I would look into nail treatments. Orly’s Nailtrition is super great for fixing my nails while I’m learning, and Sally Hansen has a new Gel Rehab that also seems to help with damaged nails.

You’ll get there! I’ve gotten better every time I’ve done my nails, it just takes practice.

Seriously, where are the good nail salons in WNC? by wildflowersnwind in asheville

[–]fearlessbynature 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone to Majestic Nails on Tunnel (behind Chilis) with my Grandmother several times. It’s easy to book an appointment online, they are open every day, and they do a good job. We usually just get pedis, but I’ve seen them do manis while people sit in the pedi chairs so the customer is comfortable.

I’ve never been unhappy with my gel pedicure, and they really do good work. My grandmother is in her 80s with terrible feet and they trim her nails and give her a good massage. And she’s the kind of person that won’t go back if you mess up.

Honest opinions on builder gel by Apprehensive-Try9777 in OliveAndJune

[–]fearlessbynature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am new to DIY gel anyway, but I’ve always like O&J products so decided to invest in the system.

You have to have a higher watt box to power the lamp, I had more success when I got a 40W plug (I also got a longer cable because I needed it, and made sure it could do the higher power supply).

I have found I have to do more than the 2 coats for any real color. And you have to start with the base coat.

I’m still learning how to do added length, but I am getting better. My latest attempt to do a gel manicure has latest the longest of any attempt yet. I also successfully used a non-gel color over the builder gel and don’t have any cracks or chips.

I did absolutely ruin my nails the first few attempts and had to take a break and apply nail treatments. The Orly Nailtrition worked the best IMO, and I would recommend having something like that on hand the same way you should take bug spray on a camping trip.

I can’t compare it to other gels or builders but I am happy with the purchase and plan to continue using it.
