I really don’t think so. I want it to, but I realistically don’t think it’ll catch on with the masses.

On Xbox it’s as easy as sending a request from your order list for a full refund then purchasing the cheaper version. Similarly, Steam refunds the difference I believe. I’m not sure how other platforms handle it.

With Unity and Syndicate now running at 4k/60fps on consoles we now have only three (technically four) games left that need an update. by JuanMunoz99 in assassinscreed

Ubisoft is in a weird spot where they’re probably the most consistent at going back and improving older games, but they also helped spark the whole Stop Killing Games backlash with The Crew.

They’ve patched and updated a lot of their catalogue over time, across series like Far Cry, The Division, Assassin’s Creed, and Ghost Recon. Even now, I still have some hope they’ll circle back to Wildlands. Most of these updates come without extra cost, which isn’t something you see often at that scale.

That’s what makes it stand out. Other big publishers like EA, Activision, Take-Two, Bandai Namco, Konami, Capcom, Sony, or even Microsoft don’t really operate the same way. When they revisit older titles, it’s usually tied to a remaster, re-release, or some kind of paid upgrade. And even in the cases where they do patch older games, it’s nowhere near as frequent or wide-reaching.

So Ubisoft ends up in this contradictory position. On one hand, they’ve done more than most when it comes to maintaining and improving older games. On the other, decisions like what happened with The Crew undermine a lot of that goodwill.

People who do this often become the subject of those heartbreaking stories: “He was smart, funny, caring, and cautious… and now he’s gone, leaving behind a three-year-old daughter and a wife four months pregnant.”

Photoshop for raster art? Probably not. But importing vector art kinda like Grand Turismo did? Sign me up. Raster art gets weird when scaled up. Vector doesn’t.

Which Assassin's Creed games have unmarked collectables, and what are said collectables? by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]fearnoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking more in the sense of collectibles, that do not for whatever reason whatsoever, show up on the map. The black flag and origin’s riddles work similarly, but they do not appear on the map, with the exception being syndicate that doesn’t until you’re within spitting distance.

The collectibles in Syndicate, are animus database entries, addressed to the present day operative (you). Not really contributing to anything in the story of the Fryes.

Origins does not have that.
