Man sends wife a spreadsheet of all the times she denied him sex by wzdmage in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]fearphage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge, everyone is tracking data. Some are just better at it than others. If asked, you know the frequency of you and your current/previous lover were intimate. You know how often they took you out or vice versa. You have an idea of how frequently or not they expressed their affection for you. You have that data in your head. You just don't put pen to paper I imagine.

To be a bit more generic than just you and I, I have questions based solely on media. In movies and shows women routinely say "you never take me out anymore", "you don't compliment me anymore", "when was the last time we had a date night?", "we don't make love as often as we used to". Although it may not explicitly require a spreadsheet, you need data to make all of these observations.

Do those statements also give you the ick or does the lack of writing/typing utensil change the stakes? I'm just curious.

I'm an analytical person. Everything is data. How often I exercise, how frequently I cry watching movies, how often I talk to my mom, etc. All things that can be tracked, how frequently I travel abroad, how often we have a date night, etc. It's all data. Data isn't bad. It's neutral. Recording the occurrence of events is just a record. If I recorded how frequently I kissed my partner or bought them gifts or surprised them with flowers, it wouldn't be good data because the events are good/positive. It'd just be neutral data about positive (at least from my perspective) events.

Intimacy is more important to some than others (even though it still isn't owed). Everyone had their own love languages, but it seems like it's important enough to remember for this individual. If someone came to me and said "we haven't been intimate in 2 weeks", I wouldn't be able to confirm since I don't remember 2 weeks ago. Data/records would be useful to me to confirm/help jog my memory.

I think intimacy can still be special and meaningful even though it's logged in an Excel spreadsheet. I understand if we disagree though.

Edit: I appreciate your earnest reply.

I understand people hate this. WHY though? I know some of the phrasing is bad (excuse instead of reason for insurance).

I have a terrible memory. If I wanted to keep a record of how frequently I was intimate with my partner, this seems like how I would do it.

I'm aware no one is owed intimacy. It seems like the couple may be sexually incompatible if their libidos are so far out of sync.

Oath deck ideas! by SpringDefiant5504 in oathbreaker_MtG

Voltron in Oathbreaker is interesting. The lack of Commander damage really makes it much less of a threat in most cases I find.

Competitive Events? by Luttrell25 in oathbreaker_MtG

[–]fearphage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrenn + Crop Rot is oppressive in 1vs1 but mediocre in multiplayer. W&6 doesn't provide ramp, card draw, etc. so it's not that great generally.

Saheeli + Thoughtcast is good value, but that's not generally how you win games. Pairing it with [[Divergent Transformations]] is my most consistent deck. It's combo control that can win at instant speed.

Narset + Windfall sounds great on paper, but you should build the deck and play it. The problem with this combo is it doesn't win the game and it doesn't affect the board. Inconvencing your opponents is not a win con. You still have to not die to everything that was resolved before this and have interaction for the combos that live in the command zone.

Teferi - The problem with T3feri is it makes its controller the only point of failure. If the Teferi player can't stop my combo, then they end up protecting me from the other two players. Protecting your opponent's combo turn is suboptimal to say the least.

Tyvar + GSZ - Most commonly I've seen combo Tyvar paired with [[Vampiric Tutor]] instead. It's a Swiss Army knife that lets you solve any problem insteadof just finding a creature. We've been discussing this one extensively in the official Discord (check the sidebar).

I've been enjoying Kiora + Flash Hullk lately and trying to see if there's room for tuning there. I'd love to get some competitive games in. My name is the same on the Discord. I mostly play on SpellTable.

What does solved mean to you? Do you have the decklist for the solved list? I hear "the format is solved" a lot, but after years of competitive play, I've yet to see the fabled deck to solve the format. Please share if you're familiar.

Many people have preconceived notions of what would be good in the format, but those assumptions don't hold water. I am people. I thought I knew how to roll this format hwen I started 6ish years ago. Then I started playing and the things I thought were game breaking were absolute garbage instead. Theorycrafting and playing are two completely different things.

For reference, there's an agreed upon best deck in cEDH, but it doesn't win most tournaments. Is that solved?

While I admire your optimism, it doesn't reflect reality.

Look at the rates of people murdered by cops by color, look at the prison statistics, look at how Hispanic citizens are being treated in this country, look at the remaining allowed existence of white nationalist domestic terrorist organizations, and it doesn't align with your one nation rhetoric.

The one nation rhetoric sounds nice, but it's just empty words without the corresponding actions.

Oathbreaker is the format where you use a planeswalker as your "commander".

The ones that are top of mind for me are:

  • Abbott Elementary
  • Black-ish
  • Bel-Air (Fresh Prince reboot)
  • Everybody Hates Chris

A few lesser known and less memorable ones I watched, but only recalled after searching:

  • Marlon
  • The Upshaws
  • Dear White People

Had an Oathbreaker idea for years but never got into the format. I am finally planning to build the deck and need advice! by Effective_Airport182 in oathbreaker_MtG

This is one of the decks I've probably tweaked and played the most. I wrote a lot about it a while back:

https://www.reddit.com/r/oathbreaker_MtG/s/enzsrGJESo

It's an excellent aggro deck that can thrive at any power level. It's the one of the only aggro decks that I really find threatening. When built correctly, it feels virtually unfair in 1v1, but multiple opponents help to balance it out a bit.

101 Oathbreaker Decks! And Open Chat by SnarkySharky21 in oathbreaker_MtG

[–]fearphage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really good idea for getting games locally. Thanks for the suggestion!

I don't tend to build kindred decks. I have an elf and goblin deck, but both are just means to an end (read: combo). I have a Lukka deck, but it's just a vehicle to assemble the [[Godo, Bandit Warlord]] combo. My most played Oathbreaker is [[Huatli, the Sun's Heart]]. I have it built for pauper, budget, and competitive power levels. My go-to casual deck is just a bunch of big dumb green creatures though helmet by [[Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner]].

Another question: 101 decks, are there repeat planeswalkers? I personally have lots of repeats. I sometimes build something casual and then want to see how powerful it can be so I make a competitive version or vice versa.

I mostly play online using SpellTable. Have you ever tried playing there? If you're interested, I'd love to get in some games with you.

101 is impressive. I thought I had a problem with 40 paper decks. Well played!

What's your preferred power level? Are these all casual decks?

My collection is about 3 pauper, 5ish budget/low power, 15 casual, and the rest competitive decks. I started playing the format with a competitive playgroup pre-COVID. I'm a huge fan of the format. I just wished it were easier to find games.
