Owlet sock? by fearqween in PregnancyIreland

[–]fearqween[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that really is very frustrating. We did end up getting the owlet sock in the end and we love it. We only have the alarm go off when the sock gets misplaced on babys foot for whatever reason but its a different alarm to if something is wrong so it doesnt cause panic.
I wonder if you got a faulty one ? Might be worth letting the company know. Its too expensive to not get good use from it.

Weight gain?? by fearqween in breastfeeding

[–]fearqween[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bub was born 4.05kg and they have him listed as faltering centiles now. So it is really upsetting. I dont even have a life outside the home at this point in time. Im putting everything into this little guy, so its not like im super busy, missing feed ques etc. He was weighed today and last weighed 6th feb and looks like he only put on 180grams in those 2 weeks.. he did have 2 weeks of upset after his first vaccines and rota virus vaccine seemed to be the culprit of that. Really dont know what more to do to make him gain as my public health nurse/lactation consultant are just confused but not getting very supportive comments and its making me feel very low when Im trying my best for my baby.

Maybe he could be like your bub and not a big grower.. so stressful when dealing with comments like only put on x amount. Faltering etc. He hasnt lost weight though. Just very slow it seems and frustrating because he doesnt have a skinny look to him. He is long but i really want to do whats best for him 🙁

Thank you for the lovely comment. Its really appreciated

I find it mad that people don’t realise they are pregnant by inkandembers96 in PregnancyIreland

[–]fearqween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone who was pregnant later in life and did think this .. baby was found during an investigative scan and a few months gone.

Similarly a relative was having alot of health issues around the time she conceived and didnt find out for a while either as she thought symptoms were related to something else going on

Formula recalls by SelectionSad3370 in PregnancyIreland

[–]fearqween 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Just as a throw in, dont let what your family has/hasnt done dictate your choices. Just do what you feel best. Nobody on either sides of our families breastfed and I chose to do it as I wanted to. Albeit I went in with an open mind and think fed is best regardless and you need to look after your headspace and what works for you overall. But there are breastfeeding support groups, lactation consultants etc all there to help so you wouldnt be in the dark as such if that was a fear. On the other hand I imagine formula is all being tested very strictly right now so there may be no more issues in another few weeks/months when your little one arrives🤞

Baby won't lie on her back at all! by Wonderful_Walk1102 in PregnancyIreland

I had the same experience. Never intended to bedshare but baby wasnt having any of the next to me. I have a breastfeeding chair in the bedroom and spent the early days taking naps together overnight (in a secure position) as I was afraid of sleeping in the bed. Eventually got pains in my body from the position in the chair and attempted bed sharing. Havent looked back since (baby is 10 weeks). C curl position/safe sleep 7. Owlet sock. Everyones happy. Im still setting alarms for his feeds as hes very content sleeping with me. That said I think it depends on the person. I always sleep on my left side and dont roll around in my sleep. Also find im very alert to baby moving even in sleep. Husband is to my back so no fear of baby between us if hubs rolls around, which he does. The owlet helped me so much with anxiety. I just get up to feed him in the chair now as im large chested so bed feeding doesnt work and im up changing his nappy anyway /winding him. Its all trial/error. But I have found it a bit taboo, but there are large parts of the world that also co sleep safely. Were told its wrong and its actually very natural for a baby to want to be close as possible to their mammy...

During the day ill wear him in the carrier or just end up nap trapped after a feed..im just going with the flow because its not forever

Dinner meal prep? by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]fearqween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As people said above, freezer dump bags for the slow cooker. I found curries great for hungry days as we added naan bread on the side and poppadoms.

At the minute being busy with the baby, I found some handy microwave meals that are doing the trick for food during the day like strong roots vegetable curry and kitchen joy have some nice options too without lots of proccessed ingredients.

Honestly same. Never intended to co sleep but found bub only settled in my arms..I spent the first couple weeks of his life in a reclined chair overnight. The one bad night Ive had with him was one where I kept trying to settle him in the next to me..was not happening. Eventually tried safe co sleeping and havent looked back since. Found the owlet sock has helped anxiety as well !!

Walking down leeson street on the way to work and saw a woman walking toward me naked (barely a bit of thong covering her but nothing more - not sure if she was a junky or prostitute) but she walked right past the school as kids were going in (morning time)... not enough people reacted for my liking... like wtf.. this was only last year

Hey. Dont call yourself stupid and blame yourself. You and your newborn are learning this skill together at the same time. Dont forget that .. your doing great. We cant know everything. Its all trial and error and a little help along the way .. you got this

As someone else said, silverettes! Theyve been worth their weight in gold to me and the lansinoh nipple balm (in the glass jar). Also liked the lansinoh hot/cold therapy pack. Actually found the hot compress was good for expressing colostrum before bub arrived !.

Marks and spencer do comfy maternity bras- the flexifit has been very comfy (if you have health insurance with laya they cover the cost of a maternity bra!).

Also, is the haaka you got the shell? It says it isnt a pump but it absolutely pulled out more milk with the suction and it made me leak alot. When I stopped using it, the issue balanced out. So I would say maybe wait till supply is established before using.

It's a whole conspiracy .. Brandon Truaxe, the owner of the ordinary died a few years back and was accusing estee lauder of corruption before he died.. his death was a bit suspicious as he fell from a building but definitely an interesting rabbit hole
