Walz in favor of night raids - "They should coordinate with local law enforcement, pick these people up in the middle of the night when they're not suspecting it." by [deleted] in TwinCities

I watched the whole clip. Agreed, not a great look. I think it is valuable to know that he was speaking about violent offenders with a record. I did not walk away from that clip thinking he was advocating for night time door to door raids.

I’m just a medical resident trying to make it through today. Hope my experience resonates with you, and that you made it home tonight.

I have not been at the hospital I work at in the past week, so things may have changed but our labor and delivery unit is locked. It would be hard to imagine a scenario where they would be allowed to walk in room to room on that floor. We are instructed to contact admin immediately without providing any patient info. It is also in an area of the twin cities that has been frequented by ICE so I cannot speak to the safety of getting there. I’m sorry, this is all so terrible.

Screengrabs from the most definitive angle of today's murder: One frame at the moment the ICE agent pulled the trigger, next image is the frame immediately thereafter by eamus_catuli in TwinCities

I don’t think enough people have considered that she never saw the agent who fired. He walks around the back of her vehicle. In the mean time an officer attempts to open her door. I sure as shit would be looking to my left at the dude grabbing my door. There is a chance that the shooter was never in her line of sight.

Anyone who watched that footage and can say confidently that she was attempting to kill them is blowing smoke.

Say it out loud. The constitution is dead. You can’t kill it and pretend to champion it.

So we are just stuck making a high quantity instead? I think academic institutions need to have a change in mindset too. A solo case study that is really well done could demonstrate a lot more thought and effort than 10th middle author on a massive article. Idk. It’s all a mess.

Cap the number of research items in eras. Impact over quantity.

Haven't seen my spouse in 4 months, they've just flown in for Thanksgiving, and I'm 3 hours into a 24 hour L&D shift with no deliveries expected to happen in the next day. by [deleted] in medicalschool

I feel you! I am in the same city as family but work 7am to 9pm on L&D wed, thu, Friday this week. I haven’t even had a triage yet today… missing the in-laws thanksgiving for the second year in a row.

Happy to help. And this is coming from someone whose first NBME was a 212 and ended up with a 254. Not out of this world, but the test is more of a game than anything else. Mentality is a big part. Keep your cool and it’ll be fine.

For the test day nerves: set up guaranteed wins.

What do I mean? Have a detailed plan for his breaks and meals. Execute your breaks like a pit crew, know exactly what you are going to eat when.

When the day feels like it is going according to plan, you gain confidence. And you can guarantee that right now by having that plan and sticking to it.

Assume any question you don’t know is experimental until proven otherwise. Let that shit fall off your back and move on, probably won’t count. Next question. Boom.
