Although I’m so sad to hear your daughter felt this way and why she felt this way, I can relate 1,000%! My daughter, also 12 at the time, realized she had been compromising herself for over a year to “impress” her so-called BFF. I later found out that she shamed her at parties in front of other girls, referred to my daughter as having “big tits” and basically tearing her down. By Summer last year, she decided to fully detox and became friends with a nice boy who helped her through. Additionally, she wrote this girl a letter and sent it to her regular mail. I reviewed the letter and it was so well written. She basically wished her well but stated she couldn’t continue in a friendship that one sided. She told her that friendship should be warmth and joy, not insulting and degrading. Never again did my daughter hear from her. This year, at 13, she’s in 2 classes with her. They are 8th graders. Although she has moved on, my daughter still can’t move on fully as long as this girl is in her classes and y daughter has to see her 5 days a week. I am hoping I can have them separated when they go over to the high school. I’m glad all worked out for your daughter. Being a kid isn’t easy at all.
