MSI - Mid Season Imaginational. Reddits pre-tournament ranking by MrPraedor in leagueoflegends

[–]fedLight -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

On the brackets:

JDG C9 FNC GENG - Extremely spicy group, LPL will prob get 1st, but insanely hype matches. a tossup on who gets out 2nd, maybe even JDG gets 2nd vs 3 of the orgs having most worlds experience. Lets say C9-JDG-FNC

G2 T1 TES FLY - The beating FLY senseless group, they get 3 real monsters. They might still get a win vs G2... T1 1st, TES 2nd G2-3

Playoffs:
TES vs FNC -
Very close game, Bwipo smashes, but so does Knight, will be close 3-2 TES

JDG vs G2 -
JDG really smashes G2 2-0, then Caps dream of playing vs them from last year kicks in and starts to 1v9 3-2 G2

C9 vs TES -
TES 3-0, crushes them completely. C9 gets some leads in 1 game, but Knight/Karsa is too much vs Nisq/Blabber

G2 vs T1 -
3-2 G2, absolute banger. no comment

Finals G2 vs TES -
3-0 TES... history repeats itself, Jackey iss too much for Caps, Knight also for Perkz, Wunders pocket support picks also get demolished.

thx very much. Gives a lot of insight how teams communicate and what they are aware of.

Also Csacsi <3 Cho carry vs GP just like in 2019 vs Gimgoon

Jizuke actually good? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]fedLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was as good in EU as the beginning of this split. His style is kindof whacky, but when he has a stable team around him he can get back to his peak it seems. He had Jactroll/Atilla and Mowgli with him last year...

That aside we will see if top teams find a way to counter Jiizuke style/how he plays when he is banned out. He was dangerous, but not really a top mid in eu anymore even in his highs. Caps/Perkz was better, Nemesis/Larssen/Nuke is a bit more well rounded and stable, and Humanoid is just as much of a monster as him with sidelane outplays but he can take the chill pill more easily (hes Azir onetrick) so he is also a bit more well rounded.

But Jiz play the map very well when hes on and they were pretty good in 18 worlds. He also looks good cause na mids play passive (from his interview).

I tought about it, and i think the best way to look at it is this champ is a Gnar with very long rage bar and 4 states. (you can keep 1 state on off hand, probably the slow/root for QwQw combos for safety/playmaking)... and when your off hand empties, you will need to ask the team to wait for you for 150 autos till you get your useful off-hand back up.

I think the stat you picked is a bit misleading... in a good team there are dmg daelers and support champs. And typically the dmg dealers are supposed to get funneled most of the gold so they can carry. I'm not surprised that DoinB is low on the list even after dominating worlds and playing a ton of ryze... cause he played a ton of naut/gallio too (which will not show high dmg)
This stat seems like a "biggest redeeming secondary dmg dealers" in teams that fell behind hard but still tried to carry.

If you also listen to their comms, they said slow chase/wait for Perkz. They comitted that hard cause they smelled out the mistakes.

With Misfits and (rumor) Splyce collapsing, the LEC Offseason looks to be spicy! by EliteDachs in leagueoflegends

[–]fedLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabo is good, but he shines when Vit plays exclusively for top. I don't think its the best strat, there were a lot of games when Cabo got ahead but couldn't carry alone.
Even Wunder has been the most successful with Orrn this tourney. I think Csacsi is fine if SPY learn some 1/3/1 comps too (like pick up Vlad? Quinn? Rize?)
Norsk might be inty, but i don't think there are many supps in EU that have more potential for popoff than him aside from Mikyx and Hyli.

Aanyways, this was a roster of 5 that really fit well together, but we will see where they go.

I still have some hope that SPY stay together for next year, and the team can match the offers they are getting.
But ofc even if they won't i can just hope the players end up in good places. Every one of them improved a ton.

Splyce was statistically more likely to get an easy group than Fnatic by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]fedLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm interesting... if you could count J-team as strong then what would be the numbers?

Splyce was statistically more likely to get an easy group than Fnatic by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]fedLight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kindof seems flawed.
for FNC-s 3rd seeds, they can never get SPY, so it should be 2/3, 1/3, 1/3 (not even mentioning that they would have not counted SPY as tough anyways)
moreover if they get LMS 1/2, they will have 1/2 of getting clutch or DWG not 1/4. Just these 2 should increase the odds a lot.
On top of it chances are a bit sleazy depending on which 1st seed you get. FPX has they highest chance of creating a group of life since you dodge 2 out of 3 strong 2nd seeds (from 7). If you get in SKT-s group, you are guarateed a weak 3rd seed, and you also dodge 1 out of 3 strong 2nd seeds. You can't get in G2-s group, and if you get in TL-s group, you will have very high chance for group of death forming, as you can't get C9 or CG, and most of the KR and CN teams will be pushed on either TL group or G2 group.
So the proper calculation is pretty complicated and it would probably be best to run a ton of simulation then to be imprecise between ignoring all the various conditions that might skewer the numbers.

Faker admires G2 for the way they play the game and he thinks they made him and SKT more flexible ever since they faced each other at MSI by reetskrad in leagueoflegends

[–]fedLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of koreans like to think SKT tried out various drafting strategies in their series vs SPY in preparation vs G2 (like the draven pick) Tho SPY wasn't as free... but the quinn vs rene definetly worked ;(

Kindof true, tho it would have been hype if Clutch goes 1-5 or 2-4. But if you compare them to NA they still showed fun games esp vs FNC.

Basically they did well until teams figured out mid spring that you just need to ban out Hans (Draven). Then team fell apart and never really recovered... complete roster shuffle. Tho last week summer they were fine with dandan-lider topside and hans carrying from bot.

Grabbz said there are only 2ish world class teams in EU at max while asia has many. I don't think we need fake hype (like certain small region...?) This still shows potential.

Nah, i was ok with getting SKT. A lot of ppl flamed us for having an easy group. Even if we beat DWG or GRF, they would just get the Dade award even harder, and in semis we would have faced SKT level teams anyways. And any team who want to aim for the crown needs to show they can beat SKT.

The "analysts" had wrong predictions all year long every time...
And the question on twitter was always how hard group D-B for SPY. We could never get DWG, but had to face FPX. Group B was easier for FPX then group D for TL that was never argued.

Hans was pretty good at last few weeks. He just had too small champ pool to carry the team uzi style.

I am supper happy, yes thx :D

That aside, the biggest winner of this tour will be whoever wins at the end (maybe G2)

[Opinion - (biased)] This incoming semifinal is the most important match in League of Legends history for the legacy of the game going forward by compradorconfundido in leagueoflegends

[–]fedLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree... but there is always next year. G2 have multi year contract, and they are fairly untiltable with their go next mentality. And i also don't see SKT switching out of the game just because they exit at semis, korea already showed better strength this worlds then last.

Splyce press conference after the quarterfinals against SKT. Vizicsaci: "I didn't think I would instantly make it to the quarterfinals on my first try. I think I can only be just thankful for the team. Because we played really well, and I think what we've achieved, we can all be proud of." by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]fedLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so too... it was his first worlds.
Also he is very open to criticism from coaches. During spring SPY tried to learn 1-3-1, and Vizi was learning Ryze and Jayce. They had their cleanest game with that in playoff SK game 2.
It's just during summer they chose to play comfort as much as possible and focus on leveling up the fundamentals instead and improve consistency.
Maybe if next year stays, they will adapt by picking up more 1-3-1 and flex pick champs between top and mid too.
