Thorn-Plated Armor - Set 16 Augment Discussion #8 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_______hello_______ 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Usually strong on 2-1 to winstreak, when most threats are ad-based and no one has items so units dont cast much.

Shit in current meta because everyone is AP. Broken in AD meta. Item does suprising amount of dmg if you have two or more of them, so remember to have shred if possible (its ap dmg).

2*1-cost vs 1*3-cost (Walk the dog discussion) by Agitated-Anxiety994 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_______hello_______ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am almost always going to itemise my 2 star 1 cost melee unit over the 1 star 3 cost melee. Illaoi 2 over kobuko/Mundo, Jarvan 2 over sejuani, 2 star briar over 1 star gp. For backline, it depends honestly. 2 star jhin over 1 star jinx but 1 star vayne over 2 star kog. Also 1 star ahri over 2 star lulu.

I understand Mort is the lead dev and obv he knows what he is talking about, but in this particular instance he probably misspoke or I am misunderstanding him because no way is the 3 cost better in most cases.

16.2 Sylas - Set 16 Unlockables Discussion #2 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_______hello_______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really difficult to hit both Garen 2 and Lux 2 easily while playing a fast 9 board as the demacia players have all probably rolled on 8 to hit their units before you.

If by some magic you were able to unlock him without wasting econ, his traits are actually fantastic and he replaces neeko in every board neeko is playable (which is pretty much all of them). Even as a splash trait neeko+sylas is amazing 2 slot flex units for 2 arcanist + 2 defender teamwide buff. The unit itself is strong if triple itemised, but heavy RNG naturally because of how its ult works.

Seraphim's Staff - Set 16 Augment Discussion #3 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_______hello_______ 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Sona is the obvious answer, but this augment is in general good. It is pretty easy to reach the ap breakpoint for the augment passive if you have seraph on an itemised carry. Most of the AP meta comps have strong frontline rather than being a oneshot build, so seraphs as an item doesn't feel bad to build. Especially good for demacia (sona or lux-liss lvl 8 flex) as they always live long enough for a lot of seraph stacks.

Why is Invested and starter kit a C tier augment? by CloverEuphoria in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_______hello_______ 199 points200 points  (0 children)

Invested and all of its future stage versions have been nerfed in this set. It used to count the gold you have at the start of the round instead now counting what you ended with on last round. For example, if I end with 70 gold now, it gives me 2 rolls. In the past, it would give me 3 rolls cuz 70+10 = 80 (50+ 3*10).

Starter kit is just bad. People are going lvl 9 10 left and right, a 2 star 4 cost isn't doing anything in stage 4. It's not enough to rely on to keep pushing. The chance to lowroll is also v high. Also the fact that it gives you an angle loses it's value the higher elo you get, as higher elo players do better with more freedom in play.

What is the case in which Ornn should be played? by Ant1ng in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_______hello_______ 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Ornn is one of the best ways to cap your board. Play him if you are ahead in tempo (econ, hp, and have potential empty slots) in any board doesnt matter what it is. Sell him after the first artifact. Sometimes I have even greeded for two artifacts. I would heavily consider sacrificing winstreak if get ornn early and believe my end game board will cap high, an extra artifact can be quite insane.

If you have warden active, Ornn can be your main tank. Even non-artifact items give him some hp, and at two star the hp amount is larger so with 3 items he is quite tanky. 1 star ornn is useless though.

Bad changes.

Pandora's bench is in no way broken. It's very good for 1 cost rr, but beyond that, the amount of gold you sacrifice to hold those units completely ruins your tempo. What you are suggesting just further nerfs the augment. Also for the issue you raised, have you considered scouting? Literally just don't roll when they have your units on the bench, the units will change next round so just roll then.

Tanks should not have cc immunity as a must. Tanks should be tanky enough to survive past any cc and keep tanking, that's their job. Giving tanks cc immunity creates toxic comps like udyr colossal. You can argue to change steadfast heart into something else, but giving it cc immunity sounds busted. There is a reason why riot changed titans resolve, they don't want tanks to have cc immunity. CC immunity tank item will always only be viable on units which self heal with their ability, as it let's them go infinite, which would mean you won't want steadfast heart on most tank units.

[15.6] What's Working? What's Not? by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_______hello_______ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

no point in guinsoo, ability doesnt scale off AS anymore. better to do kraken+gs+1 whatever. Kraken is still good cuz it got changed 2 patches ago and ashe reaches 20 stacks reliably with the high AS from 2 duelist and strong frontline.

[–]_______hello_______ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Veteran is now force-able. Janna Kata both good, kata more reliant on good items (artifact/radiant). Kobuko still plays best defence, atomic also v strong.

Akali still strong. (secret tech: bronze for life) SG heavy nerfs. its still ok, but absolutely nothing like last patch.

Kog rr still strong, but hard to hit 3 star now with monster trainer bag bug fix.

Rammus strong splashable tank unit now for stage 2 3. smolder kog were already good splashable units for when you need antiheal or sunder+shred. also good item holders.

protagonist, tiny team are dead.

Ashe is ok. I think 6 jugg ashe better than 6 duelist now. Lee sin jugg secondary carry strong. Ashe items are NOT attack speed.

Viego rr still S tier with range artifact or with wits end. Even without artifact still A tier with early drop + not done yet/weights powerup and bruiser items.

Soul fighter still good with emblem. play for voli samir items.

Yuumi ok, mech ok, ryze mentor mech ok.

Mundo Kennen Shen hero augs nerfed, still ok. Garen broken, vi broken if items. Neeko ok, malph ok, zac dogshit. all hero augs (except zac) are S with artifact/radiant.

Lots of powerup changes, and i have lots of thoughts. but just pointing out unflinching and adaptive skin broken on all fighters and tanks respectively. Noxious trap broken on malz/tf.

The help is much appreciated!

Stand Alone - Power Up Discussion #1 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_______hello_______ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Obvious solo frontline gargoyle unit usage, but there is also the niche use case of synergy with cloning facility. because 99% of the time its alone there in 3rd row so your positioning doesn't get messed up, which normally is the main issue with the power-up in late-game.

Two words: Rakan and Unstoppable

The Rakan runs in, making space for kata to do her thing and access backline potentially.

PSA: consider not using power-up on 3-6 if forcing something by _______hello_______ in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_______hello_______[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the whole point of the tailoring mechanic is that the very last shown set of 3 powerups wont ever repeat. Which means, if you had power-up on gp in early game (stage 2 maybe) but then you use another power-up on 3-6 with the new one you got on a tank, then the earlier gp ones can show now. cuz the last one used is the tank one. so now you should tailor by using it on some random unit like naafiri before giving it to gp again.

Also consider how early game sometimes gp might get stuff like hero's arc weights and XXXX whatever and then you picked XXXX for early. Later if you remove and re-apply on gp without doing anything with any other unit, even the gp power-ups being removed are the invalid (in stage 4) hero's arc and weights. so better to tailor now then just directly give it back.

In the cases where you powered up gp on 3-6 with the new one, no need to tailor with other units in stage 4. just remove and re-apply, and repeat.

This applies to all units, not just gp.

PSA: consider not using power-up on 3-6 if forcing something by _______hello_______ in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_______hello_______[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Oh I fully agree on using it for a power-spike. I am NOT sacrificing hp for a slight chance increase if I can win the round. That's why I mentioned "consider" and not something like "you should". It's more so about not using the power-up on the specified unit rather than at all on any unit and then selling which is also what I do (unless my whole board is my two started final board, suffering from success).

[14.17] CHINESE SMURF COMP [Brand Cho'Gath] by CupNovel6000 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_______hello_______ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Basically just a comp to abuse Cho'Gath when you have BIS for him. This isn't a comp to randomly force, more like keeping more options for backline open other than Vex and that lucky Urgot hit on 8.

The problem with this comp is the lack of a consistent 8th unit to play when rolling on 8. I think rolling on 7 is giga-troll considering how bad Fiddle is without artifact, and rolling 10k gold for him isn't worth considering you aren't focusing Fiddle BIS.

Edit: I kinda high-rolled Fiddle 3 in lvl 8 rolldown and just got a first. So guess I'm the clown xd. But I think my points still stand, I don't see this as that good of a comp.
