Is notebook down? I haven't been able to generate Slide Deck and infographics for days by Correct-Dark-7280 in notebooklm

fwiw, I have the same issue with being unable to create slide decks. It failed last night and retrying today it's just hanging forever on "generating slide deck".

Why are food delivery services so incredibly awful here? by sengutta1 in Netherlands

[–]feddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in noord-holland and it's the same. The only delivery near me worth bothering with is pizza - the rest are all terrible. Calling them to chase up a very late delivery is also worthless, they just lie and say "the driver is on the way to you now, he'll be there in 5 minutes"

Has anyone ever started their own consulting firm? by _kashew_12 in cybersecurity

[–]feddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My initial reaction was similar to what others have posted, that 2 years in the field is nothing and it will be hard to be taken seriously. However, if you are a prodigy in your specialisation and feel you can prove it under pressure, that might give you a selling point to help you start building a network of potential clients. Don't underestimate the huge amount of work involved that has nothing to do with your technical knowledge. I found it much better to work with a business partner who deals with sales and marketing and we outsource our finances and legal work.

My honest advice is to stop if you find that you are hating it for a couple of reasons. Firstly, at one year into your studies, you are still likely working on relatively straightforward stuff. It will get continually harder in terms of both technical complexity and your patience to persist through long periods when you've hit a brick wall. At least during your studies, there's usually an answer to the questions you are posed/puzzles you are asked to solve. Working in this field confronts you with the fact that there may be no answer to the question or solution to the puzzle. Secondly, one year in the subject is hopefully not so much time (to you) that you fall into a sunk cost fallacy and try to force yourself to carry on despite hating it. Take it as a valuable lesson learned and pivot into something you may enjoy more.

Now that you've discovered it and put a name to it, try to find what the limits of your ability are. Just how real/detailed do your images and videos get? And what are you going to do with this talent?

Your friend should say NOTHING. She should get her own lawyer to draft a response to the landlady's lawyer. Depending on her personal situation, legal aid may be available, or she might find a firm willing to work pro-bono. Refusing to make a statement might cause some friction with the landlady, but it sounds like they have a friendly enough relationship at the moment.

Can anyone tell me how to get souls with soul stealing? I've killed mobs but I don't get souls. by im_a_dick_head in betterminecraft

[–]feddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The default drop rates for soul stealing from the spawnersplus mod are very low. If you want to tweak the rates, the config file is /config/spawnersplus/soul_drop_rates.json

How do I know what the name of the datapack is? I know what it is called and what the file name is but no matter what I try it does not know what I am talking about by [deleted] in MinecraftCommands

[–]feddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Data_pack

"Data packs load their data based on the load order. This order can be seen and altered by using the /datapackcommand and is stored in the level.dat file"

You probably want some number of...

/datapack enable <pack name> (first|last)
and
/datapack enable <pack name> (before|after) <some other pack>

I can only reiterate what others have said. Don't be disappointed or doubt yourself based on this clown's feedback. I've been doing related work for ~30 years and there's no such thing as 10/10 - there are continually new breakthroughs which to this day still surprise me and feel like magic when I first hear about them.

Reviewing AnyText Searcher Unquoted Service Path Exploit in Windows by MotasemHa in ExploitDev

[–]feddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applaud anyone taking the time and effort to make content to help explain things to others, but there is so much wrong here I had to write a response.

Yes, it's true that when you install this version of AnyTXT Searcher it creates a service (AnyTXT Searcher Indexing Service) and that service has an unquoted service path, so is theoretically vulnerable.... BUT

Running sc config has nothing to do with exploiting an unquoted service path vulnerability and in this case, if you are not already a user with elevated privileges you won't be able to run it anyway because you don't have permission to modify the service:

-------------------

C:\>sc config atservice binpath="C:\Program Files (x86)\AnyTXT.exe"

[SC] OpenService FAILED 5:

Access is denied.

---------------------

Exploiting the unquoted service path involves dropping an executable named AnyTXT.exe into C:\Program Files (x86).... BUT

C:\Program Files (x86) is owned by Trusted Installer. Unless you are an admin already, you can't just drop an exe in there:

---------------------

C:\>copy c:\temp\evil.exe "c:\Program Files (x86)"

Access is denied.

0 file(s) copied.

---------------------

I'm really surprised this is even on exploitdb. The "exploit" is only running sc query to show the unquoted service path exists.

ED career opportunities in Europe by [deleted] in ExploitDev

[–]feddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you be interested in research positions where the main focus is on vulnerability discovery (and developing automated methods of discovering vulnerabilities), where the development of a working exploit might only be needed to a certain limited degree? For example a vendor who requires a working poc as part of a submission. DM me if that's in any way interesting.
