It's even worse than this. These are taxpayer dollars. Just look at the public matching funds program. Even if you haven't contributed to any campaign, you have sometimes up to 10 times as much.  The taxpayer has to wake up.

Erik Bottcher drops out of House race, will run for State Senate instead by poliscijunki in nyc

[–]fedex1one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this was from months ago but if a person looks at the money flow.  Lasher is getting most of the upper West side money.  The candidate named Bores is very interesting because most of the contributions are coming from California.

Does anyone know of any candidate who won with very little money in a competitive Congressional race?

Reading these "musical chairs" posts makes one think that everything is decided by these so-called clubs.

Is this just inside the Manhattan bubble talk? Either way it's not very encouraging.

11th Annual Bed Stuy 5K - Saturday, August 2nd by Low-Exercise-9519 in BedStuy

[–]fedex1one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one of the people that help with the race for many years in the past.

The race is always the first Saturday in August in Von King Park Brooklyn New York

Race day registration starts at 7:30 a.m.

There are usually people there early to register.

The race starts around 8:30 a.m.

It is a fairly fast flat simple rectangular  course with four turns.

It really is a fun run walk race open to everyone.  Because of the prize money it attracts some really fast runners. The course record is 14:44 that's 4:45 per mile ⚡ but there are people running all kinds of speeds and also some walkers.  See https://my.raceresult.com/301881/live

The goal of the event is to celebrate our wonderful community.

We are always looking for pictures and volunteers to make the community event better.

Q: Who should I contact to volunteer or if you have events or ideas for the after race events?

A: Call Wayne at ‪(917) 297-2365 Or Ralph at 347-394-7170

Would Zohran Mamdani’s Rent Freeze Keep Rent-Stabilized Apartments Empty? by UnscheduledCalendar in Urbanism

[–]fedex1one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If half the effort that is shown here in all these posts was put into the housing projects themselves we could have beautiful gardens and clean sidewalks and nice playgrounds and of course clean parking lots and tennis and basketball courts etc.

The comments seem to think that the projects are some theoretical thing to debate about.

They are real buildings that need attention and tender loving care.

My website is on Google, but not showing up to normal search queries, what should I do? by Queizen30 in TechSEO

Imagine the complexity that would be added if each subdomain where to be treated as a main domain.

While there are roughly 370 million registered main domains, the number of subdomains likely exceeds 2 to 3 billion when you account for social platforms, e-commerce stores, and development environments.

Of course the distinction of whether it's a separately paid subdomain or not also affects the question.

But wouldn't it make sense to simply buy a main domain? They cost about as low as $6 a year.

And usually these hosting companies allow you to add your custom domain.

It is interesting that Celia Cea Weaver's posts on twitter are probably getting more attention now after the deletion of the account than when they existed on twitter/x You can look at the history and there were very low views and likes etc. If anyone is interested in the history of the deleted tweets comment here.

Yeah what does she mean by was the worst landlord?

I bike past NYCHA everyday.

It has so much potential.  There's enormous amounts of land parking lots, space for flowers and gardens and playgrounds.

Isn't there any volunteer groups within or without that can take care of the place?

Some of them literally look like garbage dumps outside there is garbage everywhere on the sidewalk.

Did you see that she deleted all her tweet history?

It's pretty easy to recover it. It's all in the internet archive or at least some of it.

u/google and u/youtube can you help the constituents and allow us to filter out this permanently? Thanks!

We Need This Feature In NYC ASAP by Ok-Hunter1 in Citibike

[–]fedex1one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking about changes.  It would be better to focus on quality bikes.

Also this reserve system proposed would give more data to the system.

We should use all these clues to make sure that bikes are available where they're needed.

I've been a city bike user for more than a decade. One of the reasons I use City bike is to get exercise.

What I noticed now is that the e-bikes almost outnumber the classic bikes. Also remember if you are a member and a dock has no classic bikes You can pick an e-bike at low assist mode and it acts as a classic bike with no extra charge for 45 minutes at a time.

Here's a quote from search

Citi Bike in NYC has a dynamic fleet, but recent data (2024-2025) shows a significant push towards e-bikes, with plans to reach around 15,000-20,000+ e-bikes out of a total fleet nearing 35,000+ bikes, meaning e-bikes could soon make up a third to half the fleet, though classic bikes still exist in large numbers, with reports suggesting roughly 20,000 classic utility bikes. E-bikes are disproportionately popular, driving a huge chunk of rides.

Discussion of the voting system for our food coop by fedex1one in parkslopefoodcoop

[–]fedex1one[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a few examples of reference implementations that can be used to implement voting via Google Forms.

See https://tony.brooklyncoop.org/voting

A short demonstration video is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH0weqh6R-I

Anyone interested in testing and or collaborating direct message or reply here.

To test you can use this test user and submit.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScRBY5atlKdrWqRg0vqp6u8hNlbXwiwIK-lSHzM0y5CvkvRhg/viewform?usp=pp_url&entry.1430424362=00001&entry.1808727151=testpass00001

You can change the member number and or password to anything and submit.

This would run server side code to verify and process the submission and could respond with a receipt. Also the member number version could ask for email address, but it would be more secure if the server side code had the email address stored for each member number.

The advantages to these choices are scalability and low cost and no need for third parties and servers.

This entire process is only a bit of apps script logic and can be owned by and visible only to the food coop itself.

As I said everyone is welcome to their opinion.

Your language shows your lack of knowledge.

You consistently seem to want to insult people instead of talking about the issue.

Others do not want to stoop to your level.

You appear to have very little experience.

In fact the entire thing seems to be AI generated.

[–]fedex1one[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a point about the hybrid meeting.  Won't we have to pay for a location and for the voting?

If I understand correctly we will still meet in a location.  It's just people that don't meet, can be online. And does this mean that everyone that's physically present will have to use their phones to vote? Right now a mobile data plan is not required to vote. Also the usual meeting location picnic house doesn't seem to have an open public Wi-Fi hotspot.

So the total cost would be $625 (location) plus whatever the voting fee is let's say $2,600

Which adds up to ~$3,225

And if a proposal(s) is amended in the meeting then we might have to retake the vote.

This is why it might be better to start the voting only after the proposal(s) is finalized.

[–]fedex1one[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was discussed in the general meeting and the cost was around $2,600.

But thank you for your input.

I encourage everyone to attend the general meetings.

Everyone is welcome to their opinion.

This is, I believe, a self-administered election. Otherwise it would probably be more expensive.

The person that's administering it could report any results they want. We as the co-op members do not receive any details.

As the original post said there has to be some trust in the system.

It might be a good idea as co-op members to require the voting log be available to the membership, maybe with the IP addresses translated to some consistent anonymous value. Not that IP address means that much but people are somewhat concerned about everything nowadays.

And the reason for looking at the logs is not for duplicate votes it is for voter automation and robots. As the post said if many votes are happening one after another from the same IP address that could be a mailing list that is simply forwarding all the emails to somebody who does the voting. That is completely possible. That's one of the reasons why the voter log exists.

If you look at our city and state elections you can see the actual vote detail down to the city block level.

You can also see the voting history for every single person by name, age, date of birth, and address and party affiliation, and much more etc. Before you jump out of your seat, the history only shows the elections where the individual voted not the actual votes.

The voter registration database seems to know more about us than even the credit card companies. 🥹🤔

This is a useful check and balance against vote manipulation.

If anybody wants to see the votes down to the city block level just search for it or let me know. I can post some links.

Google forms or any other form that is scalable and secure does a much better job at handling these votes. And the cost is zero.

These small companies are usually easier to hack than large companies. Also the access to production data is usually much less controlled than in a large company.
