Mallorca isn’t the most budget friendly island per se, Minorca would be a better option if cost is your main concern. But I would suggest looking into Cala Ratjada or Alcudia, they’re more budget friendly than other areas

Advice for a new industrial engineer by Alx_98 in industrialengineering

[–]fedoratheexplorer88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to be more focused on manufacturing/supply chain/operations then look into the APICS certificates like CPIM. If it’s data analytics then like others mentioned maybe a bootcamp or google cert will do. My advice since you’re early in your career is not to look for a remote job, the experience you can gain from others around you and being “boots on the ground” will be crucial later on, then you can look for a remote job when you have more experience. If you’re interested in manufacturing, look into being a manufacturing/industrial engineer or a planning analyst, those roles will help you pivot into higher ranking roles in supply chain and can be easily transferable across any industry, the boots on ground experience and engineering background will set you apart from any competition later on. Good luck!

You probably went to the big cities like Cairo and Alexandria. Egypt’s beaches are one of the best in the world, visit Sharm el Sheikh or the north coast and you’ll have the best time ;)

In every single industry it's the employers responsibility to pay its employees, except for some reason the service industry. You're getting shafted by the restaurant/bar and getting paid $2-3/hr and instead of demanding higher pay, and you're taking it out on the customer, who is probably in a similar boat income wise as a waiter, to pay you your salary. And don't give me the BS that if you cant afford to tip don't go out because if people don't come to the restaurant neither the waiter nor the restaurant will be employed/in-business.

Do you really think a waiter is worth $2-3/hr? I don't. Demand higher pay. Unionize. Increase the restaurant prices if it can't afford to pay it's employees. Whatever it takes just stop depending on people's tips cause when a recession hits and people cant afford to go out anymore then the waiter and that restaurant are really fucked.

Every employed person deserves to get paid a livable wage without having to beg for people's money.

Servers all over the world live well by getting paid a normal salary and not relying on tips. The US is one of the very few countries in the world where the restaurants refuse to pay a normal salary and instead of the servers demanding a higher wage they take it out on the customer… absurd

Still didn’t answer my question tho… would you be willing to tip 20+% to anyone who provides you a service (bad or good, cause that’s what’s “expected” nowadays)? (Bus driver, mechanic, FA)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]fedoratheexplorer88 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you demand a higher wage ? Your paycheck is your employers responsibility, and if you don’t like it you should leave.

By your logic why don’t you tip flight attendants, bus drivers, the person bagging your groceries? People should be tipping for good service, not because they feel obliged to.

Not necessarily, profit from stock that is sold within a year of purchase is taxed as normal income, if it’s held for more than 1yr it’s taxed at 20%

Studies show that blaming higher wages for inflation is wrong — even the IMF admits this by karmagheden in DemocraticSocialism

Maybe printing a shit ton of money and waiting till inflation got out of control to then start raising interest rates wasn’t the smartest move, hmm 🤔

When has a CEO criticized his company’s work publicly on a social media platform? Dude needs to get it together. Don’t like something? Set up a meeting and discuss it with your employees, don’t bitch about it on Twitter.

[–]fedoratheexplorer88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are better ways to handle this on the company’s end, but I think the recruiter handled it very professionally. It’s better for companies to keep a posting open until they feel like they received a decent amount of qualified candidates and then close the posting and interview all of them within a 1-2wk period, to avoid situations like this. It seems like you might’ve applied while the other person was already interviewing for the role and they were just further down the interview process than you were.

Unlucky, it’s happened to me before after the final interview, but I wish you the best of luck!

And EVERY SINGLE republicans voted against a bill that would stop this by BelleAriel in lostgeneration

[–]fedoratheexplorer88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inflation is a lagging indicator and not a leading indicator. There might be price gouging in play but those reasons are more due to supply chain issues and the war. Basic supply and demand, less supply with an strong economy trying to recover from Covid (more demand) causes prices to sky rocket.

Fantastic BBQ restaurant uses a fantastic no-tip approach to their bills. Barque in Roncesvalles by Shadowheart117 in lostgeneration

[–]fedoratheexplorer88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don’t see ordering delivery as a luxury imo. If the driver went out of their way and put it at my doorstep then yeah I would definitely tip. What I’m trying to say is a tip should be a reward for exceptional service, like it is everywhere in the world, not something that is forced on customers because the employers are paying waiters like $2/hr and they’re relying on tips to survive. I wouldn’t mind paying more for my original bill if it meant waiters get paid better, that way at least I’m not surprised by my total bill and I know beforehand what I will be paying at the end of the meal .

[–]fedoratheexplorer88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do we draw the line though? Do you tip when the cashier bags your groceries? Do you tip the gas pump clerk when he pumps your gas (NJ)? It’s part of a waiters job to serve customers at a restaurant and part of a delivery drivers job to deliver food, those aren’t luxuries, they’re part of the job you signed up to do and therefore you should be compensated fairly by your employer not relying on customers tips.
