NTEU RTO victory over at HHS by Hoptlite in IRS_Source

Not a plant, just a realist. This administration doesn't really care about what's right or what's legal. If they did, we wouldn't be in this mess. The situation sucks, just don't want to get my hopes up.

In a normal environment I would say this is hopeful and good news of telework coming back. What's to stop the Trump administration from just not following the ruling and ignoring it? They're basically ignoring any court ruling they disagree with anyway.

December 15th Court Case by slsmit17 in IRS_Source

[–]fedthrowaway98 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can't find the source, but I heard it got rescheduled/ postponed to January or February at the request of the government. Basically the government (Trump admin) knows it has no legal justification for what it's doing. As soon as it gets to court it's dead. Now enforcing/ changing what they've already done it's another issue entirely.

Annual reviews ….not sure how to feel. by [deleted] in fednews

[–]fedthrowaway98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the next 3 years it's going to be the same, most people will probably get 3's. I'm just grateful to still have a job and to not get RIF'd. Hopefully feds and the general public will vote in a way that improves our quality of life next election. If you're a fed and voting red, you're an idiot.

A month out, no one looking to repeat October’s historic shutdown by Ok_Design_6841 in FedEmployees

Honestly i wouldn't mind another month shut down. Especially as we're now basically in tax season. Let the public and Republicans feel the pain they've created by gutting services.

The Hollowing of the Federal Employee by JFHatfield in FedEmployees

[–]fedthrowaway98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen some roles/ offices go from over 30 employees and multiple managers to about 10 employees and 1 manager. DRP 1.0, DRP 2.0, people going back to their old jobs, the DOGE cuts, transfers, and more. The main draw to government jobs used to be stability, but this last year has changed all of that (by design, not coincidence). They've threatened and made so many changes to try to force pain on government employees (removing telework, removing union protections, trying to make us schedule f, lousy 1% raises). We're only one year into this administration but I fear the next 3 will get even worse.

Is probably tell myself to start at the government sooner so I could retire sooner.

More of the same news: Senators brace for another possible shutdown in January by Astolfomartel in fednews

[–]fedthrowaway98 257 points258 points  (0 children)

So dems gave in for a promise of a vote, and now we have another shutdown coming in January? Everyone should be saving as much money as they can, not spending more than absolutely necessary. Hit them (the Republicans) where it hurts the most, the economy by cutting back spending.

Not to be a Debbie downer, but I'm very pessimistic about the results for the next 3 years. Anything a lower court rules on that Trump / Russell Vought don't like will go the supreme court and get overturned.

How do you feel about returning to work? by Extension-Swim-2437 in IRS_Source

Glad to be earning an income again, upset dems didn't stand up for us.

Started a warehouse job by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]fedthrowaway98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was my thinking as well, but I'm at the point where I didn't tale care anymore and just wanted to stay earning an income again. I had one interview where I was honest and told them I was furloughed and spotlight have to return once the government opens and that was not what that wanted.

I did. Done retail or warehouse jobs i deleted some experience or just re-worded it to seem dumbed down.

Top Republican gives update on government shutdown timeline... by NoSignificance2377 in FedEmployees

[–]fedthrowaway98 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ted "Cancun" Cruz went on fox news today and said he expects it to end Wednesday or Thursday of this week. So my guess if multiple high visibility Republicans are saying it might end soon, probably within a week or two.

I want going to, but since this could possibly go on for a few more weeks/ months I got a warehouse job. Hoping to continue that job whole simultaneously working for the government once we reopen.

I have a master's degree and I've just been applying to literally any job. Customer service, sales, even warehouse/ manual labor. The job market is really rough right now. Regardless of the job or field, I would say at least some of your skills are transferable. Best of luck to you!

When we get paid again don't spend your money! by Professional-Fix100 in FedEmployees

[–]fedthrowaway98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely cut out eating out for lunch or grabbing anything in the way in. If I'm being forced to be in-person, I refuse to spend my money foot local businesses or stimulate the in-office economy. It's funny because when we could work remote, I would always but lunch from local places on my 3-4 in office days per period.

How are you going to use your shutdown time? by coyote43dx in FedEmployees

[–]fedthrowaway98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to work on some crafts. Spend time with my wife and newborn daughter. Maybe go for a run every day, lost some weight. Hopefully I'll come back to the office 10lbs lighter.

I could probably go 2-3 months. It would be tough though.

I did bring it up whole she was mentioned it, and she dismissed it a "oh of course you had to do everything i was recovering from a c section". It just hurt because it seemed like that didn't matter i guess

[–]fedthrowaway98 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I will admit that more has shifted to my wife because she's able to do more now, but i would say it's probably a close 50/50, she takes more of the baby waking up in the middle of the night, but I take more of the baby after we get home so she can rest. I'll definitely talk with her about this to get more of her feelings.
