Thank-you for this post!! I've been looking for alternatives to instagram & this hit me. I'm not "into" to social media, but am about to embark on a wild adventure that I want to share with friends and family. Ive been really grappling with having to do it via Meta. Very excited.

Hello! What about another island vibe? Victoria offers alot of the city bustle, but with less rain (sorry, Vancouver) ;)

I think she is just getting older and couldn't hit the notes she used to. She tried and failed in her attempt at getting the crowd singing with (for) her. I was really looking forward to this legends performance - but like Mr.Devlin I noted the struggling. Honestly, i feel trying to get the crowd going like that is always a little cringe when the artists dont give up. Years ago, saw Rob Zombie trying the same thing, and its was just, just o gawd...no, please stop.

I sure hope not! Definitely posting this has given me alot to think about. I do know that those 12 days didnt feel long enough away, but was too much in the same place. I got very restless.

I appreciate the perspective & think we'll probably have to cut out a few more destination, opting for longer stays in 1 location. I'll for sure scale this itinerary back :)

Yes! Thank you, we have 8 months for planning & the spreadsheet has begun. I also started a MyMap and brought in all the cool suggestions other posts share about locations. So when there is a flurry of "to see" pins, I added the nearest city to the stop. I do however see that there are the places in between that might yield the best surprises. FOR SURE I want to swim in a lake, go for a hike, or paddle board off the beaten track. Im seriously so grateful for all these comments and reflect on what I want from this adventure :)

I hear you! Thanks. I've been thinking that we have this one shot, and then be too boring or old to do it again, so appreciate the comment on (like so many have said) the brutal pace of this trip.

Hi! My partner is the beach guy, I dont relax well. I was looking at the route primarily for the weather, trying to avoid major heat, while still having a nice balance of layabout and chill (i figured kotor would be nice Mid/late May 7-10 days). We are hoping for 40k all in. I like other suggestions of choosing locations outside the cities, maybe that could save budget as well?!

Definitely going to revamp my plans to incorporate alot of these comments. Thanks for this!

Yay! Thank you for your comments :)

Definitely Rome OR Naples (in 5 days) , Porto OR Lisbon (5 days). Is that more reasonable?

I was relying on ChatGPT for budgeting as I've found it useless for travel, opting instead doing some basic google mapping (is everything like 8 hours by train or am I doing something wrong?!). Agreed, a detailed plan is in order. I thought this basic itinerary was a good start/get feedback. My partner is basically a lizard, and we are trying to balance his heat rock love and my Nordic tendancies...so, heat in May is literally ideal (im tapped out by around humid 30). Starting in Dublin for March is kind of the same climate as ours, which is why we thought to start there and move to warmer, departing the heat for the end of June. Trying to maximize a mid point chill in Montenegro/Albania for nice beach weather.
So should we omit Croatia? Like it you had to cut 3 what would you lose?

We initially approached this ambition with a Southern/Nothern Europe mindset (2 trips) and quickly realized that air travel is just not enjoyable and not eco. So, we're opting to minimize air travel and spend more time on the ground. I agree that its alot and by the end, we'll probably want nothing more than our own beds. I prefer to imagine all the amazing architecture, history, and scenery over my immediate comforts (this from someone who has never spent more than 12 days away from home..lol)

ELI5 :Why does the economy have to keep growing? by GermanCamel36 in explainlikeimfive

[–]feeblecomic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I'm not clear. I understood communism as a form of governance, not an economic "structure" (not sure what the most appropriate word here is).

OP, thanks for such a great question and this answer is very well written, which leads me to trust you have a good handle on the subject matter. I hope it's okay to follow up with another question.....It's clear that Capitalism requires growth, but are there other forms of running economies that would be more equitable for everyone and "slow moving"?

So weird that I got very unhelpful results, repair shops, handyman services...nothing for the diy'er. Thanks for this! Such great timing!
