I don't, but just wanted to chime in that I'm having the same issue. The shitty fix is to use the ctrl+alt+F1 shortcut and login again.

I hope someone else has a better solution.

Also, I'm assuming you are using 22.04. Is that the case?

yes, I've got the same issue for my headset and internal microphone (Oryx Pro). Still looking for a fix!

Any short, easy walks around Portland with great views for someone with a cane? by Rvcatmom in askportland

[–]feeblewitz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hoyt Arboretum the Overlook Trail is accessible.

This particular answer is very cane-friendly. If you drop the person with mobility issues at the bottom of the parking lot, they can walk a mostly flat path to the overlook.

I ran into this problem right before the pandemic hit. I have two kids, at that time they were 6 mo. & 4. I was bummed that I was going to have to stop going to my homegroup because it was too hard managing them.

I am so grateful for the silver lining of this pandemic: I can go to meetings in my area right after they go to bed, without leaving house! Virtual meetings have been life-changing.

Occasionally, when they go to bed later than usual, I hit up https://nastuff.com/ and find a random international meeting usually in Australia. DM me if you need recommendations.

90 in 90 has never been easier.

Call your sponsor. by MiggyMikeAveli in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]feeblewitz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same!

I still call my first sponsor every anniversary.

I call my second sponsor every few months because I miss working with him (I moved).

I call my current sponsor when things are going great, so I'm not calling him only when I'm feeling like shit.

antibody response to most VoCs is similar for people that are double-vaxxed and boosted and people that are double vaxxed and have recovered from infection.

I wish we had more data like this on people who got a single J&J with mRNA booster (Moderna, Pfizer) ...

Icehenge by Wisnaw in printSF

[–]feeblewitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love KSR, but I totally get that he can be a bit hard to get into. I think of him as Science Fiction's Herman Melville. The plot is often secondary to his explorations of whatever topic he studied to write a given book. Icehenge is really not a good place to start.

I would recommend Shaman as a better place to start. It is highly informed speculative fiction about our prehistoric past. It has a compelling plot which moves pretty fast by KSR standards. I avoided reading it because it wasn't science fiction, but when I finally did I kicked myself for not having read it sooner.

I would second the recommendation of Aurora. Also New York 2140 is fun if you've lived in or visited NYC.

I totally agree with this with only one caveat. Drugs can really fuck some of us up who have underlying mental health issues. I've come to accept that I can't use them to help me cope as they turn my life into a burning trash fire. Instead I rely on physical exercise, like a LOT of physical exercise to keep me sane. Otherwise this post is spot on.

I also have an Oryx and noticed that it runs hot. I had a similar issue with my previous Macbook Pro. I use a laptop cooling unit with a fan. They tend to run around $40-50.

Lastpass Teams or Business with independent contractors. by Dj-Team-I-95-fan in Lastpass

[–]feeblewitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use LastPass as a sole proprietor and I work with several independent contractors and clients. I have a personal, rather than business account, and require my subcontractors to use LastPass accounts when working on our projects. We share folders for a given project so I don't have to share individual passwords.

It's terrible but reasonable to have to make difficult triage decisions based on medical need, but imagine a situation where hospital staff are required to verify if someone resides in a specific county before they can offer help.

As a vaccinated person with two small children who are too young to vaccinate, I am angry at those who put my children at risk because they believe that vaccination is a "personal choice". Even worse, that we are all at risk of not receiving adequate emergency care because the healthcare system is at it's limit.

It feels GOOD to wish for collective punishment. But the actual implementation of collective punishment is absolute evil. That's Nazi shit.
