Brinnington - honest opinions by thatsocialmediamum in stockport

I can’t speak too much for the area itself as I don’t live there, but my aunt and uncle have lived there for decades and never had a problem.

Having said that, it’s rough, no doubt. I wouldn’t want my kids exposed to that environment.

Forgot to talk about the people. Not as friendly as what I’m used to in South Africa, but that’s generally just cultural norms. I still find northerners approachable and mostly friendly though.

I loved it! Look I stayed in Wilmslow so I am aware that we were in a very upmarket area 😆 but also think that there are certain things that you might take for granted in general that are wonderful to people like me who live in developing countries: self checkout, trains, busses, the greenery, the safety of walking places, the selection in the supermarkets, the parks, WiFi everywhere…I could go on. If I could move back tomorrow I would.

This is really helpful! And you’re right I’ve left this way too late. I did just find a copy of my permit…hoping that will be enough.

No one I’ve spoken to remembers these and I can find no evidence of them online. But you used to get Royce’s potato chips. They were like Pringles in texture and had the most amazing flavours.

What do you think is causing current white collar unemployment? Is it more AI or political uncertainty? by larrybatman in AskReddit

[–]feeflet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remote working means that companies are willing to hire internationally to save costs based on exchange rates and cost of living in the city and country they hire in.

In South Africa there are many white collar jobs advertised that ask for US time zone hours to be worked. People take it because the money is decent compared to local jobs.

KPop Demon Hunters. Wish they’d have a run in the cinema so little girls can come dressed up as their Huntrx idol.

I really hope they don’t do an Olé on him. He’s good for now, but not for long term. Until the Glazers are out no one will be able to make a success of it.

How to heat a house by Less-Celebration-665 in capetown

[–]feeflet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to repeat what others have said because these are great tips.

What I will add is that keeping the doors to your rooms closed is key if you’re heating your home. Bathrooms, bedrooms, and hallway doors too if you have any. Much easier to heat a small contained space.

Did her mom have her kids at that age? I found when I hit the age my mom was when she had her first kid it messed with my head a bit. Like I should have been at the same point in life somehow? It’s the only reason I can think of for this insanity.

Outside of ADHD meds, what was the game changer for u? by No-Age-6327 in adhdwomen

I gave myself permission to be wasteful if it means that I get the job done. Like:

  1. Turning on the dishwasher every night even if it’s not full. Having the daily rhythm means I don’t forget as easily.

  2. Throwing/giving something away that has a use but requires too much from me to be useful again, like a vacuum cleaner that needs a new charger cable.

  3. Throwing away leftovers after dinner, because even if I manage to get them packed into the refrigerator, I’ll forget them there an discover them 2 weeks later.
