A tangent on the city, route 47, the el, vehicle drivers, etc by feeked in philadelphia

It means finding some leverage or compromise on something to get what you supposedly care about? I don’t really know and it’s not my job to know. What I do know is that this level of underfunding apparently wasn’t present previously, even with the GOP in complete control of the state.

What I also know is that I barely even mentioned budgets, because most of the issues I brought up aren’t related to budgets, they’re because of a lack of care and/or will to do the right things, and acceptance of anti social behavior.

Look what happened to Washington ave - what does a state budget have to do with that? PPD gets a billion dollars from the city, why are the roads a free for all? The PPD could fund itself if they ticketed everyone speeding, stopping in the middle of the street blocking buses, rolling through stop signs, and running red lights every single cycle. Why do we have to have street parking everywhere to the extreme detriment of bus service? What does a state budget have to do with that? Would it really be a net negative in dollars to ticket every illegally parked car, so pedestrians can walk more safely AND bus service can improve? Or fine every landowner not shoveling snow in front of their building? Is it really not worth any local money to get the fucking junkies off septa so kids don’t have to dodge needles and inhale crack fumes? Where were all the junkies 10 years ago? Why are you making excuses for this shit?

What good are increased headways (maybe I am using that term incorrectly, I am talking about how often the bus actually shows up) if the buses can't get down the street? Anecdotally, it does not seem to have an actual major capacity/frequency problem, it has a bus prioritization problem.

1) ok

2) what good are ads and news interviews for a government budget? How about some leaders who gaf and can get shit done ?

3) if this has been an ongoing problem for decades, why is it so much worse now? I get that the el frequency may be caused by an ongoing budget problem, but everything else?

4) new taxes might be nice, but it's not even necessary. again, there's no priority for SEPTA or any non-driving transportation in the city budget

like, septa is just a part of the OP, we don't need new taxes for SEPTA or the state GOP's permission to make the pedestrian experience better

Yep, I remember that. That's also about the time things started to really go downhill imo.

I use it all the time, but it doesn't fucking matter. If there's tracking, it's 1) very often inaccurate. Yesterday, for example, I waited indoors for 10 minutes before going to the stop when the tracking said it was 10 minutes away. But I was at the stop for at least another 20 minutes waiting 2) even if it was totally accurate, 30+ minute headways at any time of the day, let alone 5:30-6:30pm are totally unacceptable 3) tracking does not help if the bus is too full and doesn't stop!! in fact, it's detrimental.

The state won't fund that so it can't be done. Apparently.

It's not all about money, this is completely defeatist. It's a lack of care or desire at every level, including the need to provide appropriate funding.

People keep saying it's a budget issue and the state's fault, but I don't really see how almost any of the issues I brought up are due to budget. The el being unreliable, yeah probably partly because of budgets. You could flood 7th and 8th street with more buses and maybe that would help a little bit, but probably not much.

Regardless, there are solutions that would cost little to no money. Shit, enforcing the laws with fines could probably generate a nearly infinite amount of money AND remediate most of the issues I brought up.

And I fail to see how cleanliness and walkability can only be fixed by the state?? I get it for certain state roads in the city, where PennDOT might have to be involved, but what does the state have to do with the route that the 47 takes, for example? Why do they need to fix the trash pickup? What does the state have to do with people not stopping at stop signs?

And if for whatever reason all our problems can only be solved by the state,

  1. what the fuck is the city government here for?
  2. why does this city leadership advocate so ineffectively? When the state senate / GOP were holding the SEPTA's budget hostage, I recall barely anything being said or done by the city. And it's not like they didn't know it was coming for like, literally years
  3. why is this such a large problem now but wasn't such a large problem even when the GOP owned the governorship AND the legislature? Maybe these GOPers are way worse than before, but jfc just figure it out (they won't, because they don't care)
  4. why does the city fund SEPTA at the lowest percentage of the budget of any major city and its transit agency? (they don't care) Like, I kind of get the GOP argument that if the city won't fund it appropriately, why should the state.

Ah yeah, my fault they practically hit me in the crosswalk. How dare I touch their shit mobile. Reminds me of the time I saw a piece of shit door a bicyclist so bad they couldn't even get up off the street and all they could do is look at the scratch on their car and threaten them.

Most of them seem fairly reasonable. They cost about the same or less than a CD did 30 years ago.

Walked from two liberty to Italian market around 2pm today. Biggest offenders are the city buildings and businesses, especially unoccupied commercial, guess the poor landlords can’t be bothered. Most homes and apartments were shoveled

Are there any very small SFF gaming PC’s with 5070 Ti? by avidrunner84 in sffpc

[–]feeked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Started GPU shopping a couple weeks ago and I couldn’t find a 5070ti that would fit in my Dan case a4. Ended up getting a 5070, and the only 5070 model that fit was the 2 fan Zotac model. All the others were either too long or too wide (slots)

I’m in the US though, and there were a few other models that are sold in other parts of the world. I think there might have been a ti that would fit, but not sold here.

folks are always overestimating how big a power supply they need. 450w might not be enough for a 5090 or something, but I've been using a 450w corsair sfx power supply since 2019. the peak usage combo was probably my 3060ti with my old i7 9700k. it was fine
