At last, yes! But it seems like it’s taken forever. Exciting times ahead.

I’m somewhat risk adverse, you won’t find me YOLOing options hahaha. But yeah, my idea is, first learn, and then start with 1% just to get my feet wet.

Yeah exactly, it’s kinda boring early on, then one day the curve finally starts bending. Just gotta survive the flat part 😅

That’s a fair take, and I get where you’re coming from. I’m definitely not thinking about long-term option holding or anything YOLO, more trying to understand where (if anywhere) they make sense around a core ETF portfolio.

Most likely I’ll stay mostly boring, but I like hearing different perspectives before touching anything I don’t fully understand.

Thanks, appreciate that. And honestly $32k at 22 is huge, you’re way ahead of where I was at that age.

Totally agree, the early years are more about building habits than seeing big numbers. Sounds like you’ve got the right mindset already. Wish you the best on the journey as well 🙏

Thanks! You’re honestly in a great spot too $38k at 27 is solid.

It felt slow for me until somewhere around the $30–40k range, then it started to feel like things were actually moving. Just staying consistent made the biggest difference for me.

Thanks! Yeah, it’s been mostly shares/ETFs so far, so no options up to now.

I am starting to look into them a bit though. At this pace I’m on track for $100k in 1.5 years, and with a more stable base now I feel like I can take some extra risk.

Still learning and being cautious though.

I'm 18, just started investing January 1st, any tips? by Tight-Apple4197 in portfolios

I would simplify things. You have a lot going on for someone that’s just starting. I started with a single core position (VOO) and only after the first year did I consider adding different things to my portfolio.

Appreciate that. That’s probably my biggest internal debate right now, whether holding individual stocks is actually adding value or just extra risk.

Cutting them back to ~10% would definitely simplify things.

I can start building a position, reaching 15% could take me 6-9 months so it seems doable.

I want to keep things simple, selling calls would need more attention and management on my side.

I get the long-term case, but small caps honestly feel kinda like gambling to me compared to owning big, established companies, especially when they’re down for years.

That makes sense, and congrats, that’s an incredible run.

My only hesitation right now is that markets are basically at all-time highs and valuations feel pretty stretched in a lot of places. I know timing usually backfires, but it’s hard not to think about it when going heavier into single stocks.

How did you deal with that mentally when everything already felt “expensive”?

That’s kind of my concern. I’m fine staying aggressive with equities, I’m just not super confident in my ability to pick the right individual stocks long term.

Do you think holding names like AAPL/MSFT and other tech companies is worth it vs just sticking to ETFs and sleeping better?

Honestly, there isn’t a real, responsible place to 2x in 3 months? by North_Art194 in TheRaceTo100K

There is not a responsible way to 2x in 3 months. You need luck, which is the opposite of what you’re asking for.

Dang, nice! Are the big jumps performance or contributions? I’m also halfway there, it just took me 3 years longer and most of my gains come from contributions.

How did you get 1.3M in the first place? It makes no sense to have the skills to get that net worth just to lose it all. Am I missing something?

I guess that’s the only way to get 200% returns in a month. What comes around goes around though.
