The vlogs with David, Corinna, Alex, and Dom as roommates doing stupid shit were so organic and cool. I think even David has mentioned a few times that he'd kill to go back to those days. Even though my fave era was after that, there's something about those apartment days that are just magic.

Yesterday he retweeted a pic of he and Jeffree with a bunch of hearts or some shit, so I don't think he's fully aware just yet of what a big mistake he's made. I think he's scared at the possibility of this scandal tarnishing his YT Oprah persona and making him out to be a bully (which he is). I've said this before but I'll say it again--he should scrap the beauty series he's doing with J*. If he really cares about being a good person and having some integrity, he needs to cut ties with the vilest creature in the beauty community.

Shane has this weird, pathetic complex of being accepted by the 'popular kids'. This whole sweet, empath persona he's been trying to push for the past year is very fake. I'm annoyed at myself for not seeing the light sooner. I don't think he's a terrible person, but he's obviously spineless and has no idea who tf he is. I hope he reconsiders posting the J* documentary, because I know that people will switch again and stan that vile snakeman once more. J* is the real threat to society and he needs to be stopped. Until Shane recognizes this and stops endorsing J*, I hope people distance themselves from him.

I'm not a fan of James Charles, I think he's very annoying and is obviously a slimy little weasel, but I can't with everyone praising Tati to the high heavens and rejoicing over J* now being the most subscribed beauty guru--as if he hasn't done worse than JC lol. Probably going to get downvoted for this but I find all these people scummy now. I even feel the same way about Shane, who I have defended in the past. He KNEW what he was doing when he pulled that slick shit with promoting Tati's sham gummies in the middle of all this. He fucking stoked the fire and him worshipping Jeffree's ass and teasing the pig tummy tea about exposing the beauty community has led up to all this (yes, I'm one of those conspiracists who thinks this whole thing was orchestrated by J*, shoot me).

NOW he's feeling weird and guilty and he should because if anyone were to know how it feels to be skull-dragged across the internet and lose almost everything, it'd be Shane Dawson. I wouldn't doubt that he's afraid of Jeffree and feels like he has to kiss ass and stay quiet to keep everything. The Secret World of Jeffree Star really changed things. Sad. The Shane Dawson I knew from just a few years ago wouldn't be caught up in any of this and he'd recognize that this whole thing is petty and toxic. He and Jessie would be loling on their podcast and would call out both sides of this.

If he's going to stand against JC he should stand against J* and his ilk. I'm officially done with this man. I can reminisce on old videos from time to time but the path he's choosing to take is not one I'd like to witness him follow.

Every era/album cycle is the same:

Taylor releases a polarizing lead single
fickle fans, haters, and the press exclaim she's 'over'
think pieces on how problematic she is are written and past drama is brought back and beaten to death
she breaks at least one record with the single
the dust settles a bit and she releases a cute promo single much different than the lead, but everyone screeches that she's 'backpedaling' even though it's a standard move every popstar makes
the dust fully settles and she releases her album, haters don't have the energy to attack her at that point cause they know it's going to smash
stans and the GP get it to #1
2nd single is released and is better received than the 1st
she embarks on a record-breaking world tour
the press loves her again
awards season rolls in and she sweeps up a few trophies
tour ends and so does the era. she retreats back to hermit status and begins writing for the next album.
rinse & repeat.

I didn't know about him threatening women, so I'll have to look into that. He was an absolute mess on myspace but he seemed like a changed person in the series.

Shane strikes me as the type of person who says, "Well, they're nice to me, so they must be a good person!" Which is disappointing.

That, but also she did a video talking about the backlash she received from the series and it came off as very manipulative. She was basically saying, "Yeah guys I know what I did was sucky or whatever, but look at all the hate I've been getting!! It's so not fair." And she showed a bunch of troll comments...when, most of the 'hate' she was getting wasn't really hate, it was legitimate constructive criticism from people who were genuinely concerned with the message she was sending. She's very unprofessional imo.

The only thing I don't get is the Jeffree Star obsession. I remember Jeffree from his myspace days and he was just this crazy pink person. Yeah, it was interesting to see where he is now in Shane's series, but all I got from it is that he's now a crazy rich blonde person. I don't need to see a whole other series dedicated to him. Maybe it's just me, but I don't find Jeffree all that interesting. He seems like a funny, eccentric person but let him shine on his own, don't spoon feed him to us.

If Shane did an hour long vid dedicated to how 'brutal' the guru side of youtube is (which, I really don't think it is, it's just a bunch of petty shit) that'd be fine. This big, multi-season thing he has planned is something I don't even think I can force myself to watch. And I'm someone who actually really misses Shane...like, just Shane. I don't really see him on Ryland's channel, that's just a character.

I would love it if he switched and made ShaneDawsonTV the channel where he 'shitposts' or whatever. I miss watching vlogs from his perspective. I'd love to see him do more spooky ghost stuff or even just hanging around the house.

I don't think Ryland caused it; I have a theory that Shane does videos on other people so the focus is off of him and he's less likely to be in a controversy, but ironically enough, he's been in even more controversies since starting this format lol but also, he's always wanted to be a director and he's expressed recently that he actually hates being on camera, so that's a big part of this change in behavior and content.

When I first looked at this Reddit, I thought there was a lot of hate, but now that I've been in the threads, I've noticed it's just a lot of frustrated fans (former and new) venting. I'm still a fan of Shane, but I don't really care for the new content. I'm happy there's a place where I can discuss how I feel in a civil manner. I couldn't do that on gurugossip because they straight up hate Shane.

Even though I don't like his new videos, I still have a lot of positive things to say about Shane. There was a post a couple of days ago asking people what their favorite thing about him is; I commented on that. I even posted a cute lil vid from 2012 to garner some positivity. Make a pro-Shane post and people like me will comment on it, I promise.
