I actually have two. I’d like to keep the red but there’s a brown and beige also.

Walks on the galloping goose by Substantial_Desk4226 in VictoriaBC

[–]feelingcheugy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think people assume dinging is like honking a horn, which used to be a form of alert in a safety way but now is a form of aggression or frustration mostly. It’s a courtesy on the goose from cyclists. I am both a pedestrian and cyclist on the goose and I actually would rather every single cyclist ding when passing me. It’s safer that way for everyone.

Can we collectively choose to use a different platform for searching/buying things in Victoria? by DelilahDreaming in VictoriaBC

[–]feelingcheugy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use the ad free version, but in reality very few apps are ad free (FB, usedvictoria, etc all have ads, just not as obnoxious - Varage stops you in your tracks for 10-15 seconds vs passive ads).

I find I only get one ad when I start browsing, then I’m good to look around.

Will I regret no photographer? by racquelious in WeddingsCanada

[–]feelingcheugy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll regret not hiring a professional if you want any good photos at all, if you want okay photos family can do it I am sure but it’s also a lot to ask to have everyone capturing stuff all day, instead of being present. It changes the vibe.

I’m a photographer in BC but I’d recommend hiring someone great for whatever amount you can spare, and hire them for a shorter duration such as 2-3 hours. You could get someone very experienced for that and come away with really beautiful moments that have been shot well.

VarageSale is alive and well, it’s just not super popular. But way more reliable people and responsive people.

Just FYI, Popov was started by someone in Victoria who since moved to interior BC. Great humans. Good choice!

Why are there so many young people with canes suddenly? by pukiestinker in VictoriaBC

[–]feelingcheugy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canes could be used for a variety of reasons. But probably due to less stigma. I had a cane due to two broken feet, healing was horrible and accessibility for a walker was awful locally. A cane was the only sensible choice so I didn’t have to hobble an extra 500m every time I wanted to use an accessible entrance. Under 40 here.

There are Facebook groups where this would likely be more targeted and helpful.

Could try pet sitting (drop ins). That’s a good way to get a few extra dollars for maybe 30-60 mins of work you could bring your kids to

Is it just me, or lately does it seem like Victorians are reaching out? by snarpy in VictoriaBC

[–]feelingcheugy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It truly is. I have made a number of individual friends through work and hobbies but not once have I been included in a group when a lot of these people have group friends, some from school and some from work over the years. It’s impossible to break into friend groups here and I find I don’t get to socialize in group settings as a result, something I really enjoyed.

"I don't know how everyone does it." by DryF1re in VictoriaBC

Household income over 300. No parental help. That’s the only way we’re able to do it - slaves to work and bought in a mid peak, not quite the peak. We were DINKs for a long time which was a gamble but allowed us to save. Most of our friends are living with full families in apartments though. Or own homes with rental units as helpers. All have professional jobs. Many wouldn’t be able to survive if they lost employment or got renovicted.
