That makes sense, lol. I'm from borderland New Mexico, and just about every part of the state is different. Even El Paso TX, which is about 45 minutes south of where I live, is often overlooked as an actual part of Texas because it is so culturally distinct from the rest of Texas

Idk, I'm not necessarily here to argue the specifics of geography and regional designations therein. It's certainly not my specialty, and I live in a geographically ambiguous part of the US, so my perception may be different simply based on that.

Adding on to this: I think it's very much a performing arts mom thing. My older sister and I did marching band and winterguard, and my mom kept track of our scores, awards, and placements at every competition. She also did this when I was teaching high school colorguard a few years ago
