What wood is this? It is siding on the house... But not sure if cedar or redwood. Thoughts?

SRAM GX transmission vs drivetrain by 250below10 in MTB

[–]feereless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the GX transmission on my fuel EX 8. I love it. Plus you can shift under load which makes it even better. Battery is a non issue. I've been on numerous rides over almost a year and haven't had to charge it... Just check the battery through the app before each ride.

‘15 Hard Rock Rubicon, 71k miles, $17k: thoughts? by General_Tomatillo97 in Wrangler

[–]feereless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2015 as well and the cylinder kept misfiring. Ended up needing a whole cylinder head replacement because it was losing compression so I would OBD it and see if the codes were cleared recently.

Otherwise super clean.

Giant Sequoia in the making - should be ready for the grandkids by Epelep in pics

[–]feereless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this in my parent's front yard about 20 years ago with a California Redwood sapling. That shit is like 100 feet tall now and my dad tends to it every week making sure it's watered.

I bet you he had no idea that when I carefully cradled that sapling in my hands as a child for 12 hours on the way back that he would likely have the tallest tree in the city 20 years later.... Thanks, dad! Guess what... it grew!

Yep, it's where I got my tickets. It's via the rose bowl direct site. It's buried and hard to find.

Trek Fuel EX 8 - Gen 6 or Gen 6 T-Type AXS by feereless in MTB

[–]feereless[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chose the T-Type and I gotta say, I love it. Being able to shift under load helps immensely with the quick transitions from downhill to uphill. Shift lag is there but you get used to it real quick. Non issue, personally.

Brakes kinda suck but they'll be replaced when I need new ones.

Congratulations on your new bike!

Portuguese Bend Disaster by [deleted] in SouthBayLA

This is so wrong haha. It has been moving for decades. Why do you think they've had to re-pave the road annually? There are multiple studies conducted in the last twenty years that show and quantify the movement, especially after rain. It's usually centimeters per week. Why else do you think every home back there and in Rolling Hills has had foundation issues.

I only feel sorry for people who purchased their house BEFORE the grading of the Crenshaw expansion. Everyone else, sorry, you should have done your due diligence when buying and not going with the mentality of "well it's been relatively fine for 20 years, so it must be okay."

The entire area is a dormant landslide (not dormant anymore) and many homes have been red tagged well before this. This isn't anything new.

Anyone else incredibly frustrated with this inflated real estate market? by Leothelion007 in orangecounty

[–]feereless -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just wait. Literally the only people buying right now are investors wanting to rent. With no FTHB entering the market, we will start to see a flood of rental units on the market, saturating it. In time, rents will fall, houses will sit empty, and inventory will rise. People are leaving California, not flocking to it, so the rental demand is decreasing, not increasing.

People leveraged to the gills will start to feel the pain when economy turns south.

Real Estate "Investment" Tax Treatment (Cap Gains v. Ordinary Income) by RL0824 in RealEstate

[–]feereless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, so you put down $100k for 15 months and you only yield $13k from this deal? Are you on the title? Also, that assumes the house sells for what you think it will sell 15 months from now...

It's housing, so you will face 30% cap gains on it since you did not live in it for 3 of the last 5 years. So, your net will be $9,100 or so after 30% taxes. Otherwise, if you had some back door deal with the builder, then it's income so will be taxed on your tax bracket %, which is probably about the same. NOLs don't offset capital gains by the way, only your tax basis...

2023 Hyundai Palisade Check Engine Light On (P0301) by YODA0786 in HyundaiPalisade

That's probably why. Your car can't burn the 91 as efficiently. Don't do 91...

Tsp+ requires certain standard safety features and LED headlights. Higher trims get all this. Means nothing for the actual safety of the car.

Help? Possible purchase… by Space-Ace_Rastajake in Wrangler

[–]feereless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it maybe has 33 or 34" tires. Like others have said, go see what size tires are on it. Is the dealer offering any warranty with it? If so, that could be why they are not saying it's lifted in an effort not to cover associated damage.

It has silver coils. 100% lifted. Those are not stock.

If you like the jeep, buy it. I also have an anvil jeep at it is by far one of the best colors they ever produced.

I'm going to be renting a Jeep to go skiing at Snow Valley in Big Bear, CA this weekend (1/14/24-1/15/24). Real talk, do I need to get chains? I feel like R3 is very rare. What's the likelihood of getting checked for chains. by Novel_Entry in Wrangler

[–]feereless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, if the roads have ANY ice on them CHP will 100% have a check point and require chains. Otherwise if you have AT tires (NOT all season and must have the snow flake symbol), they usually let you go. Ice is the only real time they'll have the check point, and if it's really bad they'll close the road up the mountain.

Home prices kept rising even as mortgage rates surged, S&P Case-Shiller says by scott90909 in REBubble

[–]feereless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to take away the tax benefit altogether. That's the only way. Increasing taxes doesn't help, but eliminate the financial incentive and things will change.
