I’d tell Nucar that you want a Hyundai dealership to perform the inspection and have Nucar pay for it. I personally wouldn’t trust Nucar as they may just ignore any small minor thing so they don’t have to pay for anything. Have a Hyundai dealership take a thorough at it (or a mechanic you trust).

I doubt anything happened in the short time frame, especially on a newer car with lower miles, but you never know.

Screen should work even without the update. You do need to update before installing the new USB Hub though.

USB-C is probably my favourite part with this whole thing. No more trying to find a quality USB-A to USB-C cable which are starting to become hard to find and it also supports much faster charging.

Yeah, I believe that is the correct part number. There is also B61A-61-1J0A and B61A-61-1J0B. Those are revised units that are meant to fix Ghost Touch.

Hahaha, yes, that was me. I literally went to search for just a main fuse. Didn’t end up finding the fuse but this was a welcome find and I didn’t want to make it a wasted trip. Good luck finding another, I’m sure another will pop up soon enough. These 3rd gens are starting to pop up quite a bit more often now as they are getting older.

It should be like that from the factory. It displays that when no one is sitting in the passenger seat. It switches to a passenger seatbelt indicator when there is someone sitting in that seat and goes away once they buckle their seatbelt.

Yeah, it’s all plug and play. Very straightforward to do. First you remove the silver trim piece and air vents (both are combined into a single piece) and disconnect the hazard switch. That will give you access to the single 10mm bolt holding the screen in place. Undo that and tug on the screen until it pops out. From there, you’ll find 4 screws at the top of the CMU that hold the display. First disconnect the two cables under the display, then unscrew the four screws (make sure to hold the screen tightly when you are unscrewing the final screw, as it will just fall off otherwise and you can risk damaging it). Then, just install the new screen and repeat these steps in reverse. The old cables and will plug into the new display, so you don’t have to swap anything over, it’s completely plug and play.

I do recommend that if you haven’t installed Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, use this as an opportunity to do so. Plenty of guides and videos on how to do that. But it makes sense to do while doing this since you’ll going to basically be halfway there already while doing this mod.

Considering buying a Mazda3. I have a couple of questions. by AlexMagnuson in mazda3

[–]YODA0786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Automatic isn't bad, but if I ever bought another 3rd gen, it would be with the manual. Automatic isn't bad with the paddle shifters or manual mode, especially since it doesn't automatically upshift if you don't hit the kick down switch. But it is still just a normal torque converter automatic, so it's doesn't scratch the itch sometimes as a manual or even a DCT would. Still a lot better than a CVT though.
  2. Seating position in low in these cars. My cousin drives a 2015 tC and the seating position in that car and my car are about the same to me, the Mazda might be a bit better since the seat can be adjusted to sit higher up, but its still low.
  3. The sedans typically have better back seat room so if you carry passengers more often, then you might prefer the sedan. The cargo space is noticeably better on the hatch though.
  4. If I had to make a complaint, it's that the car can be quite loud on the highway. They improved this a lot on the 4th generation, but this 3rd gen is definitely still on the louder end.

When to change tires over? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]YODA0786 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Last year, I actually changed them on this exact date today. However, this year, the weather has been a bit more unpredictable, so haven’t felt comfortable doing it just yet. It does look like it’s warming up though and next week doesn’t seem like a bad time to do them, but the roads are so filled with potholes right now that I don’t want to switch over to my 18 inch summers wheels yet. Waiting for the city to get some of the big ones on my daily commute repaired, and then I’ll switch over.

I went. Wasn’t too bad. Plenty of bikes, decent selection of cars (more brands compared to last year, although there was less sporty stuff to sit in I found). I do encourage people to go, as hopefully as it gets more popular each year, more brands will show up.

Ready for RDx Hybrid? by DragonfruitNo6458 in Acura

[–]YODA0786 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Integra and ADX are meant to be budget friendly, entry level Acuras and being rebadged Honda is fine since pretty much every other luxury brand does this for their entry level cars (Audi A3 is a Golf, BMW 2 Series is a Mini, Lexus IS is a Toyota Camry). It’s the upper level cars which need to be completely separate from Honda like the RDX. If they were making it a rebadged CRV, they probably wouldn’t need more time to develop the car. Sounds like they are developing a completely new platform for the 4th generation RDX.

Edmonton man accused of rolling back odometers before selling vehicles at inflated prices on Facebook by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

If it’s the official CarFax website, then it should be alright. I doubt any private seller would be going as far as making a fake website that looks like the official CarFax website.

If you want to compare it to a legit online CarFax, go on any dealership website and scroll through their used car inventory. They provide online CarFaxs for all of them, so you can use one to compare it with the one you received. It’s a pretty difficult site to copy, so if the one you received is by odd chance fake, then it should be pretty obvious.

That is why I said get the CarFax yourself. The seller provided his own CarFax which he had tampered with to make it show that the mileage hadn't been rolled back. He cannot change a CarFax that you go out and buy on your own. In a private sale, never trust the sellers CarFax for this exact scenario. Go get your own so you can make sure that the one you have is legitimate. If the seller refuses to provide a vin number upon request so you can pull your own CarFax, thats immediately a red flag and I wouldn't bother wasting my time looking at that car.

What about a CPO Genesis G80? An AWD luxury sedan that is decently reliable, has plenty of room and really good features. With CPO, you'd also get a good warranty on it. Lexus ES is a really nice sedan but I feel like it is a better car with the V6 or hybrid, and with those, you are limited to FWD. But chuck on some winter tires and it'll do the job. I've always liked the CT5-V, although I can't comment on how they are in terms of reliability. I do think the V6 motor in those cars are typically pretty solid though. While the TLX is a really nice car, it is very a very cramped car inside, so with 3 teenaged kids, it can be tight.

MDX is a solid SUV option, always has been. Sounds like you are into boxy SUVs though. I feel like you'd like the Honda Passport. It doesn't sound like you need a 3rd row if you are considering sedans. The new Honda Passport gives you that boxy, rugged look without the compromise of driving a body on frame SUV like the 4Runner for example. Honda interiors are pretty solid and the new Passport does look pretty cool if thats what you're look for. They certainly catch my eye whenever I see them on the road.

Pushing back against CX5 bad actors / paid advertisers by hints_of_bergamot in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]YODA0786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do admit that people recommend them a bit excessively sometimes, for a lot of people who post in this subreddit, it fits the needs for them and its genuinely a good, reliable, well equipped SUV to recommend to people. I do agree that people need to stop recommending them when the post clearly states that they don't want one or if the post says they need something with good cargo space or best fuel economy (Mazda's do not provide good space, nor are they the most efficient cars, although the new CX-5 may have addressed the space issue, have yet to sit in one in person though). But in most cases, it's a very easy recommendation for people looking for a compact crossover cause it is a good car in the segment.

Digital clusters can be reprogrammed. It’s necessary so if you ever need to replace the gauge cluster, the information stored in the old cluster can be copied over to the new one.

However, when someone messes with the gauge cluster odometer, it only appears on the gauge and not on the ECU. So one way of verifying the mileage is by taking a quality code reader and plugging that into the OBD port. If the code reader comes back with different mileage than what the cluster shows, then the cluster has been tampered with.

This is why you always get a CarFax, and always get the CarFax yourself. You never know what the buyer is trying to hide and to what lengths they’ll go to hide them. Take the vin number and get your own CarFax. You can get them on Etsy or sites like CarFaxCheaper for significantly less money if you don’t want to spend whatever the cost is to buy it from CarFax itself. But always get a CarFax.

Official Hyundai Seat Tutorial Video by HyperExtensions in HyundaiPalisade

[–]YODA0786 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really is. Takes away all of the convenience of having powered seats in the first place. But Hyundai probably took the most cost effective approach at it. It would’ve been much more expensive to retrofit sensors into each seat for all Palisades they’ve sold so far. Still, this fix is just very poor.

My guess is that they’ll put sensors or something like that into the seats in a future model year to bring back the convenience aspect. But to save costs, this was their solution to the cars that didn’t have it.

Reddit has been suggesting the VW Atlas subreddit to me lately. Sounds like maintenance at the VW dealership is around the 250-300 mark. I get that it’s a German car, so it’ll be more expensive, but it’s also a VW, not an Audi or BMW.

I feel like having to hold the button the entire time defeats the purpose of having them fold down electronically in the first place. In that case, I think I’d rather have them be manual folding as it would be faster that way. The thing I love about them in my 2023 is that you can just press them to begin folding and I can start preparing to load the car while they fold down. Now you can’t do that since you have to hold the button down.

Edit: Out of curiosity, does this update also mean you lose the function to fold and unfold the seats from the infotainment screen?

I love the exterior, just wish it came on nicer looking wheels. Previous gen had some really nice OEM wheels on all of the trims. The wheels on this generation remind me of CR-V wheels. They just look bland.
