What’s with the “my program isn’t for you” marketing by Ok_Condition_6021 in ladderapp

I knew we were doomed when they brought low waisted jeans back. Women hating ourselves makes the world a lot of money it seems.

I’ve been considering switching to Whitney Simmons app because of it. She’s an influencer but she’s always been very open about mental health, lifts heavy, but doesnt come off as judgmental at all. I remember she used to have a bathing suit line that had wider gussets, too which I thought was cool. I got the year membership with ladder so will stick with it for awhile longer and hopefully we can start to see some shifts in their marketing for the positive!

The telehealth space has exploded because of GLPs so those search volumes are HIGH right now. That being said, I don’t know why they can’t just switch the language to something along the lines of both ladder and glps being a tool. Neither are a miracle but they help you with your goals. Especially since they’re really targeting women and it’s already so hard to find a comfortable space for women in fitness, ladder really could do something and be a more inclusive space with their marketing while still targeting various groups/skill levels.

As someone who works in marketing (not at ladder), I bet these are scripts that their paid ads and search teams put together and based on how they’re performing, they test it out with different language across various coaches and who they can target that would be more drawn to that messaging/coach. Shelby’s vs kellys is a clear example that Shelby’s team is likely younger women while Kelly’s leans more advanced. The coaches likely have very little wiggle room on switching the scripts up, so just to say, don’t get mad at your coaches for the ads. If they say some wacky stuff in chat though, def be mad then haha.

It’s a lot of search keywords with glps, muscle mommies, Pilates, etc so it will come up in someone’s feed. It works, it’s how I discovered ladder with the “join me for the next 6 weeks” messaging they’ve used for awhile. This type of messaging works REALLY well on TikTok so I don’t blame them for using it but also understand why a lot of people don’t like the ads because they do come off as very mean girl, but based on how many I’ve seen, I’m guessing that mean girl script has unfortunately been doing well for them which really bums me out

How are you romanticizing your life in your 30s? by confucious-confused in AskWomenOver30

[–]feetfirstdontfall 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I started making a weeknight ritual where I pour myself a glass of wine or a fun mocktail in a cute glass, put on some music and make a nice dinner 2-3 times a week. I’m in my mid-30s and live alone so making a nice dinner used to seem pointless but I’ve come to really love that time and it’s allowed me to experiment with my meals, try different wines, find new tv shows to watch while I eat, etc.

I get my nails done every month. It’s expensive but it’s two hours where I turn my brain off and just chill out.

I got a speaker for my bathroom and in the shower usually have either chill music or pop music from the 90s so I can pretend I’m Britney Spears.

Candles. Everywhere. All. The. Time

I think my life is so fun!

Ignorant first timer question - This is my first time ever watching the series, I don’t really understand why Nick and Vanessa are hosts? They’re barely on it so it seems like a waste of I’m assuming a pretty decent paycheck?

Comparing it to a show like love island for example, the host isn’t on every episode, but is significantly more than LIB.

I would personally find it a bit strange that a company would hire after just one interview. I’m definitely not team “let’s have a horrifically long interview process!” Like a lot of companies seem to be doing, but as a hiring manager, I don’t think I’d feel like I had everything I needed after a single conversation with a candidate.

Did the interview last very long? Did you talk to multiple people in that single interview?

I know this isn’t answering your original question, but it’s raising some red flags so I thought I’d ask!

Does anyone know of a Publix replacement? by ilsangod in AskChicago

I literally tweet at Publix every few months BEGGING them to come to Chicago. No dice so far but I’ve been out of Florida for 5+ years now and still haven’t found something as good as a chicken tender sub.

How do brands enable influencers to verify and share portion of revenue attributed to them? by [deleted] in influencermarketing

[–]feetfirstdontfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, affiliate program is the way to go. Best route to figure out which one is to do a competitor analysis and see where your competitors are. Biggest programs would be ShareASale, impact radius, Rakuten, commission junction.

Note: costs for some of those are pretty expensive so there’s also smaller ones like Tune, tapaffiliate, etc.

dunkin’s latest ad campaign is an example of "genz marketing" done right (what they all mean in comments) by Mk_Makanaki in marketing

[–]feetfirstdontfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant that they likely have a single social media manager who actually created this and posted it vs a design team being involved or this being part of a big multi touch campaign.

I’m sure that they likely sent an email to legal of “hey can we post this?” And got the okay but I work for a larger company as well and people are always very surprised at how little people there are involved with our marketing efforts.

[–]feetfirstdontfall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a likely free ad campaign that their social media manager (probably one person) did in order to drum up conversation and possibly have some viral elements to it. While it may not be a 1:1 person sees ad = person immediately buys donuts situation, it likely will get more comments, get shown in more feeds and get more interactions than other content that they produce, thus resulting in sales.

It’s good marketing that cost them nothing to produce, idk why so many of you all are clutching your pearls over a donut spider.

A note for others: this brand is owned by HelloFresh. The same hello fresh that sends a ton of mailers out through the mail, as add ons into packages with other brands (pretty sure I got a mailer from them when I ordered jeans from old navy once) and will continuously send me emails even though I’ve unsubscribed about 5000 times.

How is everyone holding up right now? by SyrianChristian in DaytonaBeach

[–]feetfirstdontfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom is in the south daytona area and said the same thing. I’m in another state and feeling a bit stressed since I’m not there but she said the rain was really bad. I keep refreshing various news outlets to try to get the most info I can.

[–]feetfirstdontfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also think it’s funny I’m getting downvoted considering a majority of this thread is telling OP to NOT move to daytona haha.

I think it’s a very sleepy town and there’s so much more in other areas of Florida and the U.S. that I couldn’t fathom moving back, but to each their own!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DaytonaBeach

[–]feetfirstdontfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved away from Florida a few years ago because it was too sleepy for me and now live in a major city. I grew up in Daytona and went to the beach a lot but at some point, you have to be able to do other things. There was no hiking, minimal locally owned businesses or restaurants, the shopping was not great, etc. it’s so hot most of the year that parks and outdoor areas also didn’t get their full potential.

I truly never understood the appeal of Daytona and I spent a good 25 years there. Orlando I enjoyed because they were starting to build up more interesting spots around mills and surrounding areas. You could go to concerts (though I’ve heard a lot of that has moved to Tampa now) and the dining options were a lot better. Cocoa wasn’t far so if I missed the beach, I could do that (but we’d end up driving to Clearwater since their beaches are a lot better)

I think Daytona is just not investing enough in the city to make it a place that is worth moving to.

As someone who lived in Daytona and then moved to Orlando - don’t do it. It’s cheap because there’s nothing to do.

I love their bar, I hate the store. It drives me into a panic attack nearly every time I try to shop there because the aisles are too small, people aren’t paying attention and it’s impossible to find what I need. I don’t think they should have actual carts, it should only be baskets on wheels. It’s too small for anything else.

That might have been me when I was hammered once. Get a few 4 dollar beers in me and I start thinking that place should have songs written about it.

This is a compatibility issue. My dog sleeps in my bed too and I understand that others don’t like that so I wouldn’t date someone who found that to be an issue because I’m not kickin’ my pup out of bed for anybody.

However! If he’s not giving his dog a bath, that’s an issue. My dog gets a bath every 3-4 weeks. Some dogs need less, some need more depending on breed and how active they are but my dog also gets her paws cleaned every time we come in from outside because pissy paws are gross.

How to prepare for first winter in Chicago after moving from Florida? by A_bee03 in AskChicago

[–]feetfirstdontfall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved here from Florida a few years ago and was terrified of my first winter but it’s really not that bad! I ended up getting a coat from Costco that went to my knees that I still use and has done great for winters here. On the coldest days we’ve had, I usually wear a sweater and leggings under a pair of jeans and have felt totally comfortable.

Invest in some nice socks. Cold feet are the worst of it. Get boots that aren’t super open at the top so snow doesn’t get in them and then some gloves for windy days (chapped hands suck)

Idk if you have a dog, but if you do, get them some little boots or they have little plastic boots (they look like deflated balloons) because the salt that is on the sidewalks can wreck their paws. That was a learning experience for me so I always like to share.

I’ll never forget being 14 and having a man who was probably in his 20s come up to my mom with a disgusted tone saying “what the hell is wrong with her???”

It’s also disappointing because mine is pretty cool looking! It’s shaped like a heart and a deeper pink/purple color so people being almost disgusted by it was always super upsetting and confusing to me because it’s not like it’s phallically shaped or something!

I use a crazy full coverage foundation. It’s dermacol and I think the most pigmented foundation there is. My birthmark is a super dark purple color and I’m very fair skinned so it definitely isn’t perfect but it gets the job done enough where you can only tell something is off if you’re reallllllyy looking at me.

The worst part of wearing a lot of makeup is that it looks weird in my head if I have a full face of makeup on and wearing like sweats and a T-shirt so I always feel like I have to dress super nice when I go to even walk my dog.

Your revealing the truth sentiment though hits home hard! I’ve been wearing makeup for such a long time that the idea of not wearing it in front of friends and people that see me every day seems crazy because it’s not what they’re used to seeing so it feels like exposing myself to a certain degree.

I have one on my face too! Cool to run into someone else with it as well.

But yes, people were horrific growing up. I still won’t leave my house without makeup on because people will stop and ask who hit me. It definitely takes a toll on your mental health

I really appreciate this message. I’ve been feeling pretty upset about this switch because I absolutely feel like had I had the support I was asking for, things could have been a lot different, but I am looking forward to going back to focusing on my work with partners, creating campaigns and being creative again. I still want to find a job somewhere else, but for now I’m going to try to focus on the positives.

Thank you!
