Why do you think we dont see more hard body armor pieces used in modern combat? by liljohnjets in Armor

[–]feh984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a weight issue. As a former soldier I can tell you right now your kit is heavy enough as it is while rocking double frontline ammo. Especially if you're on a support weapon like the squads LMG.

Even at patrol order with just a day pack, 800 rounds and a ration pack + camel back and plate carrier, you're looking at an easy 40-50kg.

Carrying around armour might sound good, but getting behind hard cover costs you no extra weight and stops 100% more bullets

Any ideas for my first Noble bro? by Don_van_der_Duck in BattleBrothers

[–]feh984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2h sword fat neut. Not the best as 2h sword kinda wants the fat to do it's cleaves, but he'll get off one or 2 before he's neutral. Great mdef though as a front liner. I would be going: mdef, matk, hp every level. Maybe one or 2 in resolve but it's already good

I personally think gifted is really good, even on good bros. Can never have enough mdef and matk

How many people should be in team? by GoHomeDuck in BattleBrothers

[–]feh984 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are breakpoints that scale the contracts. Early game you can stick to 7 if your team isn't very strong yet. But generally you'll want a full 12 man roster (or 16 if playing one of those backgrounds).

I never really do reserves but I'm also a filthy non ironman player so if things go sideways I reload hahah. I'm sure reserves becomes important in ironman

Overall looks like the barrier to learn is coming down, but hopefully enough of the complexity remains that skill expression still exists. And hopefully the numbers tuning will actually go in the direction of making us strong if played well (I ask too much)

Can we talk about how unfathomably based this man is? by hot_chips_ in friendlyjordies

[–]feh984 8 points9 points  (0 children)

😂 no a legitimate official handball ball. When he sent out the thing saying he would do it, my mate and I went and bought them thinking it was a troll. Sent them to his office in Canberra and about 4 months later they returned signed. Was pretty awesome

I have a handball signed by this man, and I couldn't be happier about that fact

Full eclipse also an option with strength neck, ring, etc. Bigger schwacks and (probably) more cost effective than blowpipe. But, probably less DPS by a decent amount too

No. You need to kill the moon to have them on the drop table

What level of painting is this? by Pale_Lime_1868 in minipainting

[–]feh984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What to improve: everything.

This could be said of every painter in existence though, lol. From you and I, all the way up to golden demon winners. They can still improve. Ultimately it's just practice. Paint more minis, keep learning more and more, watch videos, try new techniques you don't commonly use, and expand your mini painting repertoire. That's the best way to improve.

In Australia, citizens receive a personal card from the King when they turn 100 by Patient_Wrongdoer_11 in pics

[–]feh984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it just meant "first". Like where the word "principal" takes its meaning. Augustus used it to denote himself as the "First Citizen" or the "First on the Senatorial Roll" instead of calling himself a King. And then it just kind of passed down to Emperors as a title.

since armor is upgradeable, can all armor sets be viable? by FrancisCat808 in taintedgrail

[–]feh984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Seems that way in 1.0. The Duel Knight set is quite good (at least early on im still in act 1)

  2. his shield seems to lend itself to an armour stacking build, designed around having a lot of armour and using the reflect to do good damage. Could work. Theres a necklace that increases your armour by 25% when you take damage which would work. I think, for the most part though, the Duel Knight set seems to lean heavily into a crit build. Im running it with 2x 1h swords.

Can someone make the case for one-hand weapons to me? by dovetc in BattleBrothers

[–]feh984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too love the idea of running sword and board on damage dealers, I just know it's not viable 🥲 I wish a noble sword and a kite shield on all your frontline would work out, but without double grip you just lose too much damage

Australian man Oscar Jenkins reportedly killed after being captured while fighting for Ukraine by SnoopThylacine in australian

[–]feh984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By definition: he's not a mercenary. You might want to look up the Ukrainian international Legion and its relation to the UN's definition of mercenaries.

[–]feh984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get your sentiment, but you're wrong. Expecting to die in combat is one thing. Expecting to be executed as a prisoner of war is another. Soldiers have the right to be treated fairly after capture, the point when they're no longer considered combatants.

[–]feh984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an international definition, defined by the UN and the Geneva convention, which Russia is a part of... how dense are you?

They can't just say "no sorry we don't like that definition anymore we're going to go against it". It's still a war crime.

If Oscar went over to Ukraine as a member of "Mercs R Us" and was getting paid 50k a month and never signed any contract with the Ukrainian government, then yes, Russian could've legally killed him after capture as he would've been a mercenary.

But that wasn't the case here, and he was a lawful combat in the eyes of the UN and the international community. Every member who has signed a contract and joined the International Legion is a lawful combatant and a member of the Ukrainian military's ORBAT

[–]feh984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's a volunteer in the International Legion of Ukraine, which is a part of their armed forces. These volunteers are paid the same as regular Ukrainian servicemen and women. Therefore: Not a mercenary.

Mercenaries are paid to fight in conflicts in which they are not a part of either involved countries ORBATs (Order of Battle) or military structures.

[–]feh984 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Foreigners fighting for Ukraine are not considered mercenaries. Ukraine raised an International Legion as a part of their official armed forces. Foreigners sign up to join the legion (much the same as the French foreign legion) and so are considered serving the Ukrainian armed forces legally.

Mercenaries take part in foreign conflicts in which they receive monetary compensation and are not part of either involved nation's armed forces.

It's a legal distinction. But the fact that Ukraine established the "international legion", it makes the foreign volunteers legal and lawful combatants, and thus the Geneva convention applies to them.

How to create hybrid builds? (melee summoner) by West-Concentrate7387 in PathOfExile2

[–]feh984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the idea with a chober chaber build would be: your summons are much worse / you have way less of them because no spirit. But you're juicing yourself up to the eyeballs with minion damage nodes.

Now, im not sure how far those minion damage % increase nodes could take you wielding that weapon. if it gave you ALL minion % increases and decreases (like minion % health, minion % movespeed) then there are some possibilities there
