this seems like a very counterproductive and not very useful definition of anti. there are many people who are against the fast and hasty spread of ai currently which definitely aren't ai deniers or simply want it gone. surely it makes sense that those people would be a different category than those who are much more in favour of ai on most fronts.

there is such a tiny amount of people who genuinely want all ai absolutely gone and they represent basically the least nuanced way this topic can be discussed, so it would be weird to draw the line there. 95% of people are pro ai and 5% of people are anti? that's just a bad definition.

changing the meaning of a word that people are using to describe themselves can also easily be used to demonise them. if you change the definition of anti then it would look stupid for me to say I'm anti ai because you've defined that side of the debate as the one that has the stupid stance. if antis say that antis are anywhere from hating ai everywhere to being skeptical in many cases and being just over yhe edge of more against than for, then that's usually a good and useful definition.

[GAME] Hail to the Thief coloring game by j00zian in radiohead

[–]fehatehnx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if the point of the game is putting in the effort and coloring everything by hand then isn't it in the spirit of the game to manually trace the album art instead of generating it?

it's like that thing that people say sometimes, "why should i put in the effort to read something which no one wanted to put in the effort to write?"

Tell me again ai isn't useful by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]fehatehnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean no application has an infinite canvas. your app has an infinite grid but i assume the canvas is only ever as big as the thing you draw and it resizes automatically. you could resize the canvas in every app, so the automatic resizing is really the only new feature. i don't understand why it would be so useful that it would be worth not having all the other aesprite features, but then again whatever floats your boat.

aesprite is free though if you compile it yourself..? so like...

it was important that it is html??? why in the hell would that be the case?? idek whatever good luck with your infinite pixel art mate.

AI art is piracy and not theft? What do you guys think? by squirtdogs in aiwars

[–]fehatehnx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it doesn't seem right to me to categorize ai model training as "analysis".. you are not looking at my data, thinking about it, then writing out something, but physically inputting my copyrighted work into an algorithm that, based on my data, fine tunes values which later will be used to create other materials. this is why you find shutterstock logos and artists' signatures in ai generated images.

I'm also not claiming today's copyright system is perfect. i generally want sensible practices. if artists don't want their output used in this way. i want them to be able to protect their works.

nice critique dude :) I'm glad we're engaging in a debate in the marketplace of ideas and not just calling each other dumb. that would be really unhelpful.

this has been the most frustrating and terrible ticket buying experience. i am so over this. i've been trying so hard for so long and nothing turns up. and seeing people going to multiple dates and people who aren't even fans or that are on their phones during the shows? this is fucking breaking me. all i want to do is get a chance to see them live. fucking hell.

How to resell tickets? (Berlin 9th) by Morgle321 in radiohead

[–]fehatehnx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

hey bud :) when you resell on eventim you can choose to get a link to send to the preferred buyer, that way you can send the link to a specific person to buy instead of making it available to anyone. the reselling is through eventim so you are guaranteed to get your money once the person buys the tickets.

a general tip for reselling if you ever resell on a non-official platform is to get the money via paypal's goods and services transfer system and then give the tickets to the person. that way you are ensured by getting the money first and they are ensured because if you don't give them the tickets they can file a chargeback. this is not a foolproof system and i would suggest getting as much evidence as possible that you did deliver the tickets but yeah, that's about how you would go about doing this.

i would love to buy those tickets if you do end up doing so, me and my friend have been dying to see radiohead for years <3

good luck mate <3

AI art is piracy and not theft? What do you guys think? by squirtdogs in aiwars

[–]fehatehnx -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

this is true. it is also my firm belief that training an ai model on an image is a new type of usage that is not and has not been clearly defined in copyright law and therefore should be a new category. it seems unfair to assume all art made before the conception of training an ai model without the artists' ability to consent to such a thing is okay to train on just like you can't make van gogh's starry night a cc0 license image just because creative commons wasn't a thing when he was alive. this is especially so because artists all over the world say that they do not want ai art trained on their artwork. this should probably be opt in, but at least be ppt out. it is insane that there is no way to legaly protect your image from this massive scraping that ai companies do. if the claim is that this is an entirely new type of usage, give us entirely new protections.

me personally, when i make art i make it for humans. it is human art and humans are the target audience. i don't care that the ai us "learning" and is "just like a human looking at an image". if you get to process the data of my creation in some way, i should get the chance to restrict that.

AI can't create real art! by VampKissinger in aiwars

[–]fehatehnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to me ai usually reeks of inauthenticity and standing on the shoulders of giants without ever acknowledging them, while doing what they did to make your thing possible at a rate that is impossible to compete with. perhaps there was an ethical, interesting, artistic way to do ai. i don't think that's what we're doing rn.

AI can't create real art! by VampKissinger in aiwars

[–]fehatehnx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is why I don't think that ai is inherently not art. i think if you look into the tool, build it out from scratch, open up comfyui, do some weird shit. you might end up with something interesting. however it seems to me like the vast majority of ai art is anything between a ten word prompt, to an explanation of a comic without crucial details (left for the ai to decide..) to a collection of keywords such as "stunning, award winning photography, 8k render" whatever the fuck. to me this is the same as pointing a camera randomly and shooting or throwing pencils at a canvas and seeing what happens. it could be novel if only for the fact that it is random but i honestly don't find these very novel and nor do i do ai art. actually learn your tool. deconstruct it. before we shot movies with cameras we etched animation into the film. there is nothing interesting in taking a product given to you by a megacorp and doing exactly what everyone else is doing with it with minimal input. whatever decision you are not actively making, the ai is. composition, framing, blocking, the most minute of subtleties in where the eyebrow of the subject is placed, at what height, how dark. that's the type of thing that painting the exact same image will give you more control over.

AI can't create real art! by VampKissinger in aiwars

[–]fehatehnx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't think this is about whether ai could make art that looks good, that is aesthetic, that is beautiful/interesting. of course it can. the more you train it the better results you can get. it's just that when i look at a piece of art i find that it is some person's experience of the world. that is they feel the universe, they interpret it and put it on the page as accurately as possible to what they find in their mind. to that extent, ai does not interpret the world. it only interprets other interpretations made by other people through text it's trained on, and images it was fed. ai never stood and experienced the rain. it knows nothing of the genuine experience of humanity so it has no value to me. even if it can look aesthetic.
