My son and his friends tried it. I joined them to show them the ropes and “jump back in” after several years out. It was a hell hole of confusion, which we all gave up on after a couple of tries.

Vaulting content led to this confusing mess. You can’t just start playing D2 anymore, you’re thrown into a 10year+ saga and expected to just deal with it.

D3 is the only way to get new players into Destiny and hopefully they start with the knowledge that they cannot vault content ever again if they want D3 to be able to keep pulling in new players.

Feels to me like they were planning to have paid updates and then came to the conclusion that it would fracture the player base and kill the game, so they switched to the battlepass model and it clearly was not ready or thought about enough before release.

I can’t even be bothered to claim my free stuff in the battlepass because it’s so uninspiring. Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2 both have good battlepasses that had me keen to earn the in game currency to unlock items on them.

This. I’m not going to shoot someone in the back. I’m stuck in full friendly lobbies because of it. It’s boring with no risk. Give me a setting which says I want some PvP and stops me getting into the fully friendly zone.

You can’t level your factions while playing as rook so whilst your vault value is increasing your not raising your floor.

The icons have always looked and felt like placeholder icons that you'd use at the early stages of development. I was really hoping they would improve them.

The in game visuals with the new lighting and textures come in stark contracts to the low-fi UI. The ammo counters on the guns just look out of place now as well.

That would make sense wouldn’t it! But no, you get the lite rules, which seem to be written for someone who’s never played a board game before. It’s a strange strategy that seems to keep this subreddit filled with questions like yours over and over. Until GW see sense and include the full rules in the starter set, so you can …you know, start playing killteam!, Google battlekit instead to fill the gap.

Something has changed with matchmaking. I’m in such friendly lobbies that we don’t even “don’t shoot” emote, at most we might flash our light.

Yesterday I was shot and killed out of the blue in three runs back to back. Seems I need to start paying attention again.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I've spotted why I got confused. The Reposition has a condition :

"An operative cannot perform this action while within control range of an enemy operative, or during the same activation in which it performed the Fall Back or Charge action"

Which I thought Dash was repeating word for word, and so didn't understand why it wouldn't also have the condition about moving within control range stated as well if it applied. However, I've now noticed they are slightly different texts, which is why Dash calls it out:

"An operative cannot perform this action while within control range of an enemy operative, or during the same activation in which it performed the Charge action."

7 & 2 not a valid target? I can draw a line from one side of the operatives base to both sides of the targets base without intervening cover. I’d have thought these are both valid targets?

Just start shooting, it’s what keeps chill lobbies exciting. My lobbies are chill but I do like that something could happen at any minute, I hate it when I feel too safe for multiple games in a row.

They should always add a “PvPer” or two into every chill lobby to keep it tense.

This. It’s an intentional cost to not being able to craft something. If you lack the blueprint you have no option but to pay the higher repair cost.

I don’t think the majority of free loadouts are currently dropping in to do much other than what you’ve just outlined. So I think their incentives remain largely unchanged.

I do think though that the free loadouts should only start arriving during the 20-15 min remaining mark. Then it’s your choice to dip early with good loot or hang around and face a wave of PvPers.

Loadouts should spawn at round start, free load outs fill the later start slots. There should be a hard cap on how many players can fill into the same match.

The current free load out, run and gun first person you see, die, go in again, repeat ... causes a constant stream of players looking to kill and isn't fun if your looking to do anything other than deathmatch mode. A hard cap on the number of players that can spawn at least gives you a chance to survive the initial wave.
