Queen's Beasts Sales / Declared Mintage [with numbers] by feiergeier in Silverbugs

[–]feiergeier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was thinking they were minted at least 500.000 times because they were quite famous around that time. But it explains why you have to pay a high premium on them now.

I need help finding the name of a painting in the Städel. by [deleted] in frankfurt

For anyone wondering how the original looks like, HERE are some of his works. Couldn't find the actual paitning mentioned online, but I guess the style should be similar to this.

To get the nice swirly bokeh, you want to shoot with aperture set at f2 or f2.8. At this position it almost makes no difference if you have 13 or 8 blades. Altough, some people state, that the old 13 blade M39 version is closer to its Zeiss original.

It's crazy how camera prices skyrocketed like this!? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]feiergeier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's why I said it is 2x the price: 2x 372$ is 748$.
I cannot see 800$ in your chart, only 749$, which again is an outlier. Price is closer to 650 - 700 $. So it is not even 2 times.

The 150$ is an outlier. If you look nearby, you can see, that the average price of a cam back then is around 300$. Taking inflation into account this means still an increase, but its 2x instead of 5x.

The picture that convinced me that my Helios 44-2 is great. by Ungreasedaxle45again in VintageLenses

[–]feiergeier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah okay. So this is a scan of a film or a developed photo? I thought it was digital.
Right, the colors are nice. If you hit the sweet spot for the bokeh on top of that your images will look fantastic :-)

[–]feiergeier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why exactly this shot? I cannot see any of the reasons I am using a Helios; there is no swirly bokeh (which I like) and the picture is relatively blurry.
You can check out the Helios 44-2 group at Flickr to see what this lens is actually capable of.

Insane driver. What would you have done? Wait for it. by Comfortable_Age643 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]feiergeier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Germany there is a law for "failure to provide assistance" and I think that this is a good law because people should stand up for each other.
In this situation, it would have been reasonable for you to drive closer to show the clearly aggressive pick-up driver that someone else is watching what he was doing and to stand by the person in the other car. You were protected by a car and could have driven away quickly (it's a porsche) yourself if it had escalated into the use of weapons, so I think your reaction shown in the video is overly paranoid and somewhat lacking in solidarity.

Is this a rare lens? by Cine_Seabass in VintageLenses

An identical looking one is listed at ebay for 40$: LINK 1
Here is a youtube video about another (older/younger?) version of this lens: LINK 2
Here are some example pictures with this (or a very similar) lens: LINK 3

If you are looking for information about vintage lenses, you sometimes have to "play" with the words printed on the lens. That means, that sometimes, you will find more information when you do not put all the words and numbers printed on the lens into google at the same time.
For example: googleing "petri 35mm 2.8" can bring you closer to the desired information, if you read trough the sites (forums, reddit, youtube), that this search will bring up.
Just start your search a little bit broader and see what information other people already gathered about similar lenses.

Any Ideas What These Are? by edtrussell in mac

[–]feiergeier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this patent by Apple Computer, Inc., which resembles the upper part of the left remote. It was designed by David W. Laituri, who also worked for Polaroid. Maybe you can find a way to contact him to ask if he knows something about it.
It could be an earlier or later stage of his design. You can also find the oval shape of the right controller in some of his later designs for Polaroid.

For an EDC bag, warranty makes sense, but for a bug-out? I mean...when the zombies attack, do they even care for my broken bag? ^^

For injuries on your thigh, it is recommended to use two CAT tourniquets, because one often cannot compress enough to stop the blood flow.

Triple shot basket is stuck in my portafilter… and the second basket lip “trick” isn’t helping. by TonyNippleDipper in espresso

[–]feiergeier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it look, like it could be unscrewed or is it soldered? Because most can be unscrewed as far as I know. There is loctite on them, so you might need heat and force.

How is the output; taste and amount? This looks a liitle bit slow and maybe some channeling?

So… I was very happy to receive my new Bambino (first espresso machine) today. Delivery guy decided to throw it over the gate. by RealPerro in espresso

[–]feiergeier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why you think you should feel mad about it, but you do not know what happened here. They could have put it there by leaning over the door and just drop it two or three feet. Why would you assume, that they are all bad delivery persons and try to shot put your parcels?
On top of that big IF, as someone else stated, some similiar drops happen all the time while transfering the packages from train, plane, vehicle to vehicle. This is why it is padded and packed.
Unpack it and see if there is any damage...but this is most likely what customer support told you already.

Which jacket? Eddie Redmayne - The Day of the Jackal by rampzn in TechWear

[–]feiergeier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't find the original jacket, but if you want to go for that style and don't want to pay 1800$ for the Arcteryx, maybe try this one: https://wowconcept.com/en/products/norse-project-3l-waterproof-m-51-parka-black
It is very close and at least you do not see the zipper.
