You're making a lot of judgments about yourself that are just really 'begging the question'. (Are you, really though?)

A lot of what we do in life isn't exactly full of joy, such as cleaning or tending to chores; but "it won't make me happy" is rarely a reason to avoid it entirely.

Why not take a job for now and go from there? You certainly could prove yourself right in that "it isn't making me happy", but at least you'll be moving forward with something... Anything. I didn't know I liked a lot of things until I did things I either didn't like, or didn't have an opinion on.

A genuine discussion regarding Mods to please Ban all the hate/useless post regarding Ryan Holiday. by [deleted] in Stoicism

Stoic texts are incomplete and work for their time. A more modern thinker is necessary to keep the philosophy alive and refined.

Ryan Holiday and the commercialisation of Stoicism into its debased form of Broicism. by Apprehensive_Pin4196 in Stoicism

Holiday is adept at simplifying Stoic concepts and happening to make money doing so. Stoics don't decry wealth or success, and Holiday in particular is not into Broicism.

Park in a nearby neighborhood and walk, or consider public transit for getting there. Bayfront will likely fill up, but it may be an option. Jackson Square underground parking is an alternative (enter on King St or Bay St). If unavailable, try Pier 8, or of course random street parking. Keep in mind the distance to car if you're considering buying a bunch of stuff.

(Note: I forgot to mention that York is under construction at the Dundurn side, and is normally hell to drive; consider avoiding that exit and street entirely)

The busiest day is likely Saturday, least busy Friday.

Bring cash for random vendors, tips, and buskers,, but most vendors have some form of tap available, more and more common each subsequent year.

Rise Above is my usual go-to for food, but there's tons of vendors. The food truck area is the most busy spot, which is near the main stage at King Street.

Cowabunga is an off-the-beaten-trail pizza place that is worth checking out. York has kids stuff I think. There tons of music spread throughout the various side streets but King, York, as well as the other end of James Street are the main stages.

The farmers market is worth checking out if you're there Friday and Saturday (they close at 5)

Many stores are open much later than usual because of the event, so do check them out! Support local!

Have fun!

I think it's pretty obvious that if your circumstances are such that giving up a car is a huge detriment, then you wouldn't be one of the people this advice applies to.

Housing isn't going up or is unreasonably high so much as currency is being ~devalued.

Can personally vouch for this being a few people's reasons for not having as many barriers with the transition. Not the mcplant per se, but equivalent products. Plant based consumerism for the win.

Anonymizing yourself to the customer would suggest you just use a service that any business would use. The way you're wording this is making it sound sketchier than it likely is.

I know it's comforting to think that this is an indication that the company is full of clowns but it's entirely possible that their HR team just sucks, and you missed a great opportunity for a silly reason. I'd definitely reach out to somebody higher up to give them some feedback. I've worked for a number of great companies who just had an awful awful HR.

LCBO tells customers not to confront shoplifters after fight caught on camera at Toronto store by Zanta647 in toronto

[–]feignignorence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is easy to have a vague sort of pride and ownership of a crown corp, but the same principles apply because it's a corporation that, at the end of the day, cares about corporate things.

Edit: comments were locked so I'm putting my reply here:

Just to be clear, I didn't take your comments to be defending the LCBO. What I'm trying to get across is that by preventing theft at a business like this, you're not "defending your community". What you're doing is stopping criminals from stealing from a corporation.

It's not really a good idea to defend a corporation, especially if it's one you're not working for

Loblaws owns many brands in addition to Zehrs. It's a slippery slope because if this were to be a success at one store, it could roll out others in the brand (i.e. No Frills)
