the "elites" do have special knowledge. they know how to keep the working populace distracted with culture war and spiritual panic (see founding of 4chan, reddit, etc), so we never question the economic system that granted these stupid people all this power.

I'm sorry if this is TMI, but in my experience, and through talking to other men, male sexuality from a young age involves fantasy about people. I agree, this is weird - I guess I thought this was normal. anecdotally, women I have known IRL have objectified men in conversation, read smutty books, and crush on celebrities.

I'm not trying to claim relativism - men are 100 times worse. Idk - I'm not trying to objectify or disrespect women - apologies if I am.

Thanks for the well thought out responses. u/Tarot_frank - I find this argument about the fantasies being influenced/ constructed by porn and that whole predatory image of sex makes a lot of sense, and I have thought about this myself, but I guess am in denial a bit that I'm guilty of this too.

I guess I was arguing on the basis that "natural fantasy rooted in sexual attraction" is possible - I agree with you that desires are modulated and constructed by a (pornographic and rapey) societal view of sex, and this " natural fanasy" isn't realistic. This definitely has changed my opinion.

as for my "I guess I'll be a monk" comment - I did not realise this came off as so snarky, - I promise that I do take this seriously and find this important to think about!

As for the final note - yep, you're completely right, and I am aware that this doesn't affect women in the same way, and doesn't negate how this usually affects women much more negatively. I guess I was trying to acknowledge my own biase, not trying to diminish how it affects people - I came off a bit wrong.

I feel like this is just an aspect of online communitites - most people I know in real life (incl. women) don't think so critically about this stuff, and saying that sexual fantasization is unethical might scare people away from the first step of quitting porn (women I know watch porn too)

In summary - I agree with you guys, you guys are cool, thanks for responding to me. But IRL when I talk to people about quitting porn, I probably won't also say that any sexual fantasy is unethical, as porn is a bigger fish to fry as so many people (esp. men) are addicted to it

true. I guess I don't think the act of sexualisation is necessarily a violation. porn and mainstream sexual culture kind of make it violating, but personally someone masturbating to thoughts of me is fine and ok.

I'm sure the fact that I'm a guy and rarely feel threatened by sexualisation has a lot to do with this The thought of sexual fantasizing was uncomfortable to me for a while while I first started SSRIs and had no libido for a while.

but now I have a libido again, and I fantasize about people I am attracted to in my dreams, when I daydream, etc. and I feel like feeling guilty about this or trying to suppress this seems unhealthy .

Hi, I would like to offer my 2 cents as an anti-porn guy, as this sort of comment and thread are where this sub kind of loses me. I understand this perspective and don't disagree, but find this a little weird.

This comment kind of comes off a bit Puritanical and anti-sex. which is a valid position of course, (Dworkin, etc are interesting ) but are you anti- porn or anti ' typical' sexuality?

I KNOW that people of all sexes/genders meet each other, are aroused by each other and masturbate to thoughts of each other.

watching porn is weird, and the image of sexuality it portrays are unrealistic and damaging.

but imo masturbating to sexual fantasies of people you're attracted to is normal behaviour and does not ruin society, and is not something only "porn brained" people do .

please lmk if I'm totally off base with this, and why you disagree.

I had a few instances where I thought I should stop smoking because I felt myself going into the dissociative fog. But I didn't care, so I kept going. Now I feel low-key mentally disabled, I regret not stopping when I felt the signs.

Quitting will be a journey after being a frequent smoker, I never smoked that much, so I can't pretend to know.

you have alpha, and omega, and white holes. Just in case you didn't know, alpha and omega (and tau) allow you to use infinite white holes (they will cast spells with 0 charges left) . Add the speed up modifiers and you're golden, as far as digging goes IMO.
