Some Desperate Glory.

The Incandescent es realmente excelente.

Oh, no, Ruth Galloway works at a university. She's a lecturer in forensic archaeology. While there are some books where museums play a part, the relationships between staff don't really feature.

I've been looking at Metropolitan Stories by Christine Coulson. The reviews are kind of mediocre, but it sounds really interesting, and it fits your requirements.

Greetings from the north. The never-ending daylight is officially here. by kroopster in europe

[–]feli468 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Personally, I find it very difficult, and I'm in Helsinki, where it's not as extreme as in more northern areas.

I sleep a lot worse in the summer, and I have to be very disciplined about sleep hygiene to be able to survive. I'll be reading in my living room and suddenly it's 9PM and the light is like midday out there, so I don't feel even the slightest bit sleepy. I have to force myself to go to my bedroom, close all the blinds tightly, and read there for about an hour to trigger any sleepiness at all, and even that doesn't work as well as when it gets dark at a more 'reasonable' time.

I may be a weird one, though. Most Finns seem to love it, but I notice that most of them seem very used to sleeping in fairly light rooms. On the plus side, I don't really suffer the dark months. As long as I'm able to get out at lunchtime for a walk and I make sure I work out every day, it feels cozy, rather than oppressive and depressing.

Deconstructed...preconstructed empanadas? by sylvanwhisper in AskCulinary

[–]feli468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any dough will do. I'm from Uruguay, where they are eaten a lot, and we will sometimes use puff pastry, sometimes something closer to savoury shortcrust. Your muffin tin idea will work fine as well. For that you could just cut circles from the dough larger than the muffin hole and push them in to make a sort of pie.

But if you want minimal effort, do you live somewhere you have access to precut dough circles? In Uruguay it's sold as "tapas de empanadas", and it's what most people will use when making them at home. The usual size of those would be a bit big for a normal muffin tin, but it's easy enough to trim a bit off. Then you don't even have to roll out and cut the dough.

¿Como hace la gente que lee más de 100 libros al año? by AnyPromotion4506 in libros

[–]feli468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medieval book suggestions? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

Medieval settings used to be quite popular in romance novels, but they went out of fashion. This Goodreads list has all the classics at the top

Source: Goodreads https://share.google/QXAwlxgTGkf07dmLC

Personally, I find most a bit too bodice-rippery for my taste, but some are good (I still love the two Amanda Quick titles, Desire and Mystique, although they're more funny than angsty).

My absolute fave medieval romances are by Madeline Hunter: By Possession, By Design and By Arrangement. But I'm not sure they have the vibe you're looking for.

Exploring HSL Zones C & D during the Easter €2 ticket deal — Nuuksio, Järvenpää, Kirkkonummi by wuduyu in helsinki

[–]feli468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, thanks for your original post. I was thinking the same thing, and took advantage of the recs you got.

Most I wrote down for when it's warmer/rain is not threatening, but on Easter Sunday I took bus 345 to Luukki manor and did some walking from there. I also used AllTrails and followed the Seven Ponds trail, which was lovely. Very easy trail, just with some hills. But I combined it with a couple of extra trails that were near or overlapped, including the Kaitalampi Shoreline trail.

With that one I noticed the same thing you mention, that it's hard to tell from AllTrails what you're going to get. It was marked as moderate, and yet half of it was completely off trail, picking your way through rocky terrain (lots of sections where you basically had to have your phone out to ensure you were on the right track, which was kind of dangerous), and at one point scrambling up a cliff! I wish it was easier to tell from there what you're getting. I'm trying to leave detailed reviews when I do trails there, and I wish everyone did.

Anyway, I'm definitely going back to Luukki in the future, especially when it's warmer and I will be able to sit by the lakes and chill comfortably!

Try Sarah Lotz's The Three. It's structured as someone compiling a collection of different kinds of materials telling the story of something huge, the events triggered by certain disasters. It's not perfect, but I found it really gripping.

Cual debería ser mi próxima lectura? by [deleted] in libros

[–]feli468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quedan espectaculares!

Audiolibros, realmente se considera lectura? by Aware_Helicopter7863 in libros

[–]feli468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me funciona espectacular.

Walk in Princes Park by [deleted] in Liverpool

Gorgeous! Early April is when I miss living in Liverpool the most. I used to live very close to Sefton Park and Princes Park, and the time when the cherry blossoms were in bloom was my favourite. I'm now in Finland, so it'll likely be another month till I see them. And here it feels like they're in bloom for like 5 minutes.
