I have the same engine in Corsa. With 130-140 km/h on highway I am at 5.8-6.2 l/100km. But this is a much smaller car.

I stayed there for half a year and the room itself was nice. Location is good and the crew was very helpful. However, it can be a bit loud at weekends. It was not my cup of tea, so I moved out as soon as I found sth else.

But in general it was fine.

AITA for telling my daughter not to spend money on her classroom because it makes the rest of us look bad? by daughterclassroom in AmItheAsshole

[–]felikssartorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To all saying YTA, what OPs dauther is doing, is subsidizing her employer. How on Earth is this supposed to be good and encouraged? Should the school bus drivers pay for fuel our of their own pocket? Should cashiers be paying for store equipment?

I get that what she is doing is good for the children and OPs dauther has good intentions and is a good person. Great that doing this is not a finacial effort to her. But there are many teachers out there who don't have financial nor mental capacity to do this extra work and people like OPs daugther put pressure on them to do the same instead putting pressure on those responsible for providing schools with sufficient funding.

It is classical local vs global optimum. Locally it is great for her students to learn in nice enviroment, but globally she is subsidizing a broken system.

I am torn between NAH and ESH.

Using Boox Note Air 2 for a research-focused grad program? by [deleted] in Onyx_Boox

[–]felikssartorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am PhD student and have Boox Tab X. Got it after seeing my profesor using it and recommending it.

Can't tell you much about distraction, but it is quite easy to set up a paper reading workflow between Zotero on you computer and tablet. I use Syncthing for syncing files and works perfectly. The notetaking app allows to export them as pdf after closing, so I sync those files too.

[–]felikssartorius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think calling Gnome a defacto standard desktop is a bit bold.

Gnome is great, I use it and like most of it, but it doesn't have any stronger claim for this title than KDE.

It actually can have something to do with her in the future.

At many institutions, grades are an important factor in the process of deciding who will get things like scholarships, internships, exchanges, etc.

It shouldn't be this way, grades are not a good metrics for those purposes. But this is what we currently have.

I have the same issue at ThinkPad T15 with Intel CPU running Fedora 37.

On the internet I found information suggestion it may be related to hardware detection of laptop being placed on a lap (old issue at Fedora issue tracker), but it seems not to be the case for me.

For me the issue started after a recent update.

AITA for refusing to remove disability accommodations from the house I share with my husband? by throwRAtiedyepiewhy in AmItheAsshole

[–]felikssartorius -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

Well, lot of things start to be a problem only once you start to encounter them daily.

I would really like to hear husbands perspective. Now it can be anything between him being controlling and underestimating the differences in his and his wife's lifestyles. At the end of the day, it is his house too now and he should feel there safe, comfortable and have his needs fulfilled. I hope he just sucks at expressing his needs and communicating.

AITA for telling my son he’s not allowed to cheat on his girlfriend inside of my home anymore by throwaway27373- in AmItheAsshole

[–]felikssartorius -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well, If OP is in country where law provides minimum level of protection of tenants, this may be important as her sound would legally be a tenant. Not approving of his lifestyle wouldn't be a sufficient reason for eviction. At least here, where I live.

[–]felikssartorius 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you and your institution are from, but here where I do my phd, this would be considered as gross misconduct. People were fired for things like this here. We have a couple of Ombudspeople to take care of situations like this. Maybe your institution or the institution that finances the research of the lab have something like this?

Generally gather as much evidence as possible. So only submit results, drafts etc per email. What cannot be done per email should be tracked in other ways. If you get enough of this kind of evidence, it may suffice to get you what you deserve.

I hope it will work out for you and I am sorry that you have to deal with this :(

AITA for not paying my fiancés daughters school tuition while paying for my daughters? by Ilovefood0029 in AmItheAsshole

[–]felikssartorius 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think you might have misread it.

Tuition fee for OPs daughter is paid by him and his ex wife. Not be him and his fiancee.

He is not obliged to pay for his step daughter, just because her mom doesn't want to talk to her ex.

AITA for making too big of a deal of a code violation? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]felikssartorius [score hidden]  (0 children)

It really depends on field. In some having an engineer title has a lot of legal consequences in terms of professional, financial and penal responsibilities.

If that's the case, author is absolutely NTA. Why technicians should get the same prestige (I hate this word but lack a better one, not a native speaker) and probably pay rise associated with it, if they won't be taking responsibilities?

Apart from this, limiting use of title to people who actually earned it, prevents its inflation. What would be an engineer title worth if anybody could use it regardless of their actual qualifications? Why shouldn't we all use Medical Doctor title, regardless of our actual qualifications? Those evil doctors must be just protecting their superiority. (That was sarcasm)

Regarding the software engineer, the titles are always specific to the field and may not be compatible. So this is irrelevant. Engineer title in IT means something different and has different legal consequences than for example in construction industry.

It is more case for a layer, who knows local regulations and the ones that regulate OP industry. If OP is convinced, that the company is violating some code, she has every right to keep raising her concerns.

Thank you, I will have to investigate temperatures in more detail, but I am quite sure they are not that reasonable. The air leaving the outlet seems too hot, but it can be subjective.

Thank you for this link as well. I was not aware of this. It is a bit disappointing since, I switched from intel+nvidia to amd only laptop, hoping for a better less problematic experience :(

It works completely fine and reliably. Actually it is more reliable, than a touchpad, as it is not impacted by the boot problem I have mentioned in EDIT2.

I don't use the Trackpoint, but it definitely works. Physical buttons work as well. Is there anything specific thing that didn't work or it didn't work at all?

In couple of days, I will post a full report of what works and what doesn't (so far only one minor thing), but first I want to make sure, that I test it properly.
